1 சாமுவேல் 15
1 சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “தம் மக்களான இஸ்ரயேலர்மேல் உன்னை அரசனாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணும்படி யெகோவாவினால் அனுப்பப்பட்டவன் நானே. எனவே இப்பொழுது யெகோவாவிடமிருந்து வந்த செய்தியைக் கேள்.
And Samuel said to Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint you king over Israel: and now hear the voice of the Lord.
2 சேனைகளின் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: இஸ்ரயேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தபோது, அவர்களை அமலேக்கியர் வழிமறித்த செயலுக்காக நான் அவர்களைத் தண்டிக்கப் போகிறேன்.
Thus said the Lord of hosts, Now will I take vengeance for what Amalec did to Israel, when he met him in the way as he came up out of Egypt.
3 இப்பொழுது நீ போய் அமலேக்கியரைத் தாக்கி அவர்களின் உடைமைகள் அனைத்தையும் முழுவதும் அழித்துவிடு. அவர்களைத் தப்பவிடாதே. ஆண்கள், பெண்கள், பிள்ளைகள், குழந்தைகள், மாடுகள், செம்மறியாடுகள், ஒட்டகங்கள், கழுதைகள் அனைத்தையும் கொன்றுவிடு” என்று சொன்னான்.
And now go, and you shall strike Amalec and Hierim and all that belongs to him, and you shall not save anything of him alive, but you shall utterly destroy him: and you shall devote him and all his to [destruction], and you shall spare nothing belonging to him; and you shall kill both man and woman, and infant and suckling, and calf and sheep, and camel and ass.
4 சவுல் மனிதர்களை அழைப்பித்து தெலாயிமிலே அவர்களைக் கணக்கெடுத்தான். அப்பொழுது இரண்டு இலட்சம் காலாட்படையினரும், யூதாவிலிருந்து பத்தாயிரம் மனிதரும் இருந்தார்கள்.
And Saul summoned the people, and he numbered them in Galgala, four hundred thousand regular troops, and Juda thirty thousand regular troops.
5 சவுல் அமலேக்கியருடைய பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து, அவர்களைத் தாக்குவதற்காகக் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே பதுங்கியிருந்தான்.
And Saul came to the cities of Amalec, and laid wait in the valley.
6 அப்பொழுது சவுல் கேனியரிடம், “நான் அமலேக்கியருடன் உங்களையும் அழிக்காதபடி, நீங்கள் அவர்களைவிட்டுப் போய்விடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் இஸ்ரயேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தபோது நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டினீர்கள்” என்றான். அதைக் கேட்டவுடன் கேனியர் அமலேக்கியரை விட்டு அப்பால் போய்விட்டார்கள்.
And Saul said to the Kinite, Go, and depart out of the midst of the Amalekites, lest I put you with them; for you dealt mercifully with the children of Israel when they went up out of Egypt. So the Kinite departed from the midst of Amalec.
7 பின்பு சவுல் ஆவிலா தொடங்கி எகிப்திற்குக் கிழக்கேயுள்ள சூர் வரைக்கும் இருந்த அமலேக்கியரைத் தாக்கினான்.
And Saul struck Amalec from Evilat to Sur fronting Egypt.
8 அத்துடன் அமலேக்கியரின் அரசனான ஆகாகை உயிரோடே பிடித்தான். அங்குள்ள மக்கள் அனைவரையும் வாளால் அழித்தான்.
And he took Agag the king of Amalec alive, and he killed all the people and Hierim with the edge of the sword.
9 ஆனால் சவுலும், இராணுவப் படையினரும் ஆகாக் அரசனையும், முதற்தரமான செம்மறியாடுகள், ஆடுமாடுகள், கொழுத்த கன்றுக்குட்டிகள், ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகள் ஆகிய தரமான எல்லாவற்றையும் தப்பவிட்டார்கள். அவற்றை முழுவதும் அழிக்க அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை. ஆனால் தரமற்றதும், பலவீனமுமானவற்றை முழுவதும் அழித்தார்கள்.
And Saul and all the people saved Agag alive, and the best of the flocks, and of the herds, and of the fruits, of the vineyards, and of all the good things; and they would not destroy them: but every worthless and refuse thing they destroyed.
10 அதன்பின் யெகோவாவினுடைய வார்த்தை சாமுயேலுக்கு வந்தது.
And the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying,
11 “சவுலை அரசனாக்கியதை முன்னிட்டு நான் மனம் வருந்துகிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவன் என்னைப் பின்பற்றாமல் என்னைவிட்டு விலகிவிட்டான். என் அறிவுறுத்தல்களை நிறைவேற்றவுமில்லை” என்றார். இது சாமுயேலுக்கு மனவேதனையைக் கொடுத்தது. இதனால் சாமுயேல் அன்றிரவு முழுவதும் யெகோவாவிடம் அழுதான்.
I have repented that I have made Saul to be king: for he has turned back from following me, and has not kept my word. And Samuel was grieved, and cried to the Lord all night.
12 மறுநாள் அதிகாலையில் சாமுயேல் எழுந்து சவுலைச் சந்திப்பதற்காகப் போனபோது, அங்குள்ளவர்கள் அவனிடம், “சவுல் கர்மேலுக்குப் போய்விட்டான். அங்கே அவன் தன்னைக் கனம்பண்ணும்படி ஒரு நினைவுச் சின்னத்தை நாட்டிவிட்டு பின் திரும்பி கில்காலுக்குப் போய்விட்டான்” என்றார்கள்.
And Samuel rose early and went to meet Israel in the morning, and it was told Saul, saying, Samuel has come to Carmel, and he has raised up help for himself: and he turned his chariot, and came down to Galgala to Saul; and, behold, he was offering up a whole burnt offering to the Lord, the chief of the spoils which he brought out of Amalec.
13 அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம் போனபோது, சவுல் சாமுயேலிடம், “யெகோவா உம்மை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக. நான் யெகோவாவினுடைய அறிவுறுத்தல்களை நிறைவேற்றிவிட்டேன்” என்றான்.
And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said to him, Blessed [are] you of the Lord: I have performed all that the Lord said.
14 அதற்குச் சாமுயேல் அவனிடம், “அப்படியானால் என் காதுகளில் விழுகின்ற செம்மறியாடுகள் கத்தும் சத்தம் என்ன? நான் கேட்கின்ற ஆடுமாடுகள் கதறும் சத்தம் என்ன?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And Samuel said, What then [is] the bleating of this flock in my ears, and the sound of the oxen which I hear?
15 அதற்கு சவுல், “அவற்றை அமலேக்கியரிடமிருந்து இராணுவவீரர்கள் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். உம்முடைய இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு பலி செலுத்துவதற்காக ஆடு மாடுகளில் சிறந்தவற்றைத் தப்பவிட்டார்கள். மற்றவைகளை நாங்கள் முற்றிலும் அழித்துவிட்டோம்” என்றான்.
And Saul said, I have brought them out of Amalec, that which the people preserved, even the best of the sheep, and of the cattle, that it might be sacrificed to the Lord your God, and the rest have I utterly destroyed.
16 அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல், “உன் பேச்சை நிறுத்து. நேற்றிரவு யெகோவா எனக்குச் சொன்னவற்றை நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்” என்றான். அதற்குச் சவுல், “சொல்லும்” என்றான்.
And Samuel said to Saul, Stay, and I will tell you what the Lord has said to me this night: and he said to him, Say on.
17 எனவே சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “நீ உன்னுடைய பார்வையில் சிறியவனாயிருந்தபோதும் நீ இஸ்ரயேல் கோத்திரங்களுக்குத் தலைவனாகவில்லையா? யெகோவாவே உன்னை இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு அரசனாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணினார்.
And Samuel said to Saul, Are you not little in his eyes, [though] a leader of one of the tribes of Israel? and [yet] the Lord anointed you to be king over Israel.
18 யெகோவாவே உன்னை, ‘நீ போய்க் கொடியவர்களாகிய அமலேக்கியரை முழுவதும் அழித்துவிடு. அவர்களை முழுவதும் அழிக்கும்வரை அவர்களுடன் யுத்தம் செய்’ என்று உன்னை அனுப்பினார்.
And the Lord sent you on a journey, and said to you, Go, and utterly destroy: you shall kill the sinners against me, [even] the Amalekites; and you shall war against them until you have consumed them.
19 ஆனால் நீ ஏன் யெகோவாவுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவில்லை. நீ ஏன் அந்த கொள்ளைப்பொருட்களை பாய்ந்து எடுத்து யெகோவாவினுடைய பார்வையில் தீமையானதைச் செய்தாய்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
And why did not you listen to the voice of the Lord, but did haste to fasten upon the spoils, and did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord?
20 அதற்குச் சவுல் சாமுயேலை நோக்கி, “நான் யெகோவாவுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தேன். யெகோவா செய்யச் சொன்ன பணியைச் செய்து, அமலேக்கியரை முற்றிலும் அழித்து, அவர்கள் அரசனான ஆகாகையும் சிறைபிடித்து வந்தேன்.
And Saul said to Samuel, Because I listened to the voice of the people: yet I went the way by which the Lord sent me, and I brought Agag the king of Amalec, and I destroyed Amalec.
21 இராணுவவீரர்களோ இறைவனுக்கு அழிக்கப்பட ஒப்புக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டவைகளிலிருந்து சிறந்த செம்மறியாடுகளையும், ஆடுமாடுகளையும் உம்முடைய இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு கில்காலிலே பலியிடுவதற்காகவே கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்” என்றான்.
But the people took of the spoils the best flocks and herds [out] of that which was destroyed, to sacrifice before the Lord our God in Galgal.
22 அதற்கு சாமுயேல் பதிலாகச் சொன்னதாவது: “யெகோவா தனது குரலுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவதைப் பார்க்கிலும், தகன காணிக்கைகளிலும் பலிகளிலும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைவாரோ? கீழ்ப்படிதலே, பலி செலுத்துவதிலும் மேலானது; அவருடைய சத்தத்திற்கு செவிகொடுப்பதே, ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களின் கொழுப்பிலும் மேலானது.
And Samuel said, Does the Lord take pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in hearing the words of the Lord? behold, obedience [is] better than a good sacrifice, and hearkening than the fat of rams.
23 கலகம் பண்ணுவது, குறிசொல்லும் பாவத்தைப் போன்றது. அகங்காரம், விக்கிரக வழிபாட்டைப்போல் தீமையானது. நீ யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைத் தள்ளிவிட்டபடியால், அவரும் நீ அரசனாய் இராதபடி உன்னைப் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டார்.”
For sin is [as] divination; idols bring on pain and grief. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord also shall reject you from being king over Israel.
24 அப்பொழுது சவுல் சாமுயேலிடம், “நான் பாவம் செய்துவிட்டேன். நான் யெகோவாவினுடைய கட்டளையையும், உம்முடைய அறிவுறுத்தல்களையும் மீறினேன். நான் மக்களுக்குப் பயந்ததினால் அவர்களின் விருப்பத்திற்கு இடங்கொடுத்தேன்.
And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, in that I have transgressed the word of the Lord and your direction; for I feared the people, and I listened to their voice.
25 எனவே இப்போது நான் யெகோவாவை வழிபடும்படி என் பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, என்னுடன் திரும்பிவரும்படி உம்மைக் கெஞ்சிக்கேட்கிறேன்” என்று கேட்டான்.
And now remove, I pray you, my sin, and turn back with me, and I will worship the Lord your God.
26 அதற்கு சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “நான் உன்னோடு திரும்பிவரமாட்டேன். நீ யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையை புறக்கணித்ததால், நீ இஸ்ரயேல்மீது அரசனாய் இராதபடி யெகோவாவும் உன்னைப் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டார்” என்றான்.
And Samuel said to Saul, I will not turn back with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord will reject you from being king over Israel.
27 பின்பு சாமுயேல் போகும்படி திரும்பவே, சவுல் அவன் மேலாடையின் ஓரத்தைப் பிடித்தபோது, அது கிழிந்து போயிற்று.
And Samuel turned his face to depart, and Saul caught hold of the skirt of his garment, and tore it.
28 அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “இன்றே யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசை உன்னிடமிருந்து கிழித்தெடுத்து, உன் அயலவர்களுக்குள் உன்னிலும் சிறந்த ஒருவனுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.
And Samuel said to him, The Lord has tore your kingdom from Israel out of your hand this day, and will give it to your neighbor who is better than you.
29 இஸ்ரயேலின் மகிமையான இறைவன் பொய் சொல்வதுமில்லை, மனம் மாறுவதுமில்லை. ஏனெனில் மனம் மாறுவதற்கு அவர் ஒரு மனிதனல்ல” என்று சொன்னான்.
And Israel shall be divided to two: and [God] will not turn nor repent, for he is not as a man to repent.
30 அதற்கு சவுல், “நான் பாவம் செய்துவிட்டேன். ஆயினும் என் மக்களின் முதியவர் முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரயேலர் முன்பாகவும் என்னைத் தயவுசெய்து கனம்பண்ணும். நான் உம்முடைய இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவை வழிபடும்படி என்னோடு திரும்பி வாரும்” என்று கேட்டான்.
And Saul said, I have sinned; yet honor me, I pray you, before the elders of Israel, and before my people; and turn back with me, and I will worship the Lord your God.
31 எனவே சாமுயேல் திரும்பிச் சவுலுடன் சென்றான். சவுல் யெகோவாவை வழிபட்டான்.
So Samuel turned back after Saul, and he worshipped the Lord.
32 அதன்பின் சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “அமலேக்கியரின் அரசனான ஆகாகை என்னிடம் கொண்டுவா” என்றான். “மரணத்தின் கசப்பு என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கி விட்டது” என்று எண்ணி தைரியத்துடன் ஆகாக் அங்கே வந்தான்.
And Samuel said, Bring me Agag the king of Amalec: and Agag came to him trembling; and Agag said Is death thus bitter?
33 ஆனால் சாமுயேல் அவனிடம், “உன் வாள் பெண்களைப் பிள்ளையற்றவர்கள் ஆக்கிற்று; அப்படியே உன் தாயும் பெண்களுக்குள் பிள்ளையற்றவளாவாள்” என்று சொல்லி சாமுயேல் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக கில்காலிலே ஆகாகைக் கொன்றான்.
And Samuel said to Agag, As your sword has bereaved women of their children, so shall your mother be made childless among women: and Samuel killed Agag before the Lord in Galgal.
34 பின்பு சாமுயேல் ராமாவுக்கு போனான். சவுல் தன் ஊரான கிபியாவிலுள்ள தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போனான்.
And Samuel departed to Armathaim, and Saul went up to his house at Gabaa.
35 சாமுயேல் சவுலுக்காகத் துக்கப்பட்டபோதிலும்கூட, தான் சாகும்வரை திரும்பவும் சவுலைச் சந்திப்பதற்கு போகவில்லை. இஸ்ரயேலருக்குமேல் அரசனாகத் தாம் சவுலை நியமித்ததின் நிமித்தம் யெகோவா மனம் வருந்தினார்.
And Samuel did not see Saul again till the day of his death, for Samuel mourned after Saul, and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
