1 சாமுவேல் 14

1 ஒரு நாள் சவுலின் மகன் யோனத்தான் தன் ஆயுதங்களைச் சுமக்கும் வாலிபனிடம், “எதிர்ப்பக்கமாக இருக்கும் பெலிஸ்தியரின் தடைமுகாமுக்குப் போவோம் வா” என்றான். அதை அவன் தன் தகப்பனுக்குத் தெரிவிக்கவில்லை.

Now it came to pass one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man that bore his armour, Come and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison which is on the other side. But he did not tell his father.

2 சவுல் கிபியாவின் சுற்றுப்புறத்திலே மிக்ரோனிலுள்ள ஒரு மாதுளை மரத்தின்கீழ் இருந்தான். அவனுடன் ஏறக்குறைய அறுநூறு பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.

And Saul abode at the extreme end of Gibeah under the pomegranate-tree which [was] in Migron; and the people that were with him were about six hundred men.

3 அவர்களில் ஏபோத்தை அணிந்திருந்த அகியாவும் இருந்தான். அவன் இக்கபோத்தின் சகோதரனான அகிதூபின் மகன். அகிதூப் பினெகாசின் மகன். பினெகாஸ் சீலோவிலே யெகோவாவின் ஆசாரியனாயிருந்த ஏலியின் மகன். யோனத்தான் புறப்பட்டுப் போனதை யாரும் அறியவில்லை.

(And Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, Jehovah's priest in Shiloh, wore the ephod.) And the people did not know that Jonathan was gone.

4 யோனத்தான் பெலிஸ்தியரின் தடைமுகாமுக்குப் போவதற்கு கடந்துபோக முயன்ற அந்த கணவாயின் இரு பக்கங்களிலும், செங்குத்தான கற்பாறைகள் இருந்தன. அதில் ஒன்று போசேஸ் என்றும், மற்றது சேனே என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

Now between the passes by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines' garrison there was a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side; and the name of the one [was] Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.

5 அந்த கற்பாறையிலொன்று மிக்மாசை நோக்கி வடக்கு பக்கமாகவும், மற்றது கிபியாவை நோக்கி தெற்கு பக்கமாகவும் இருந்தது.

The one crag [formed] a pillar on the north opposite to Michmash, and the other on the south opposite to Geba.

6 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தன் ஆயுதம் சுமக்கும் வாலிபனிடம், “விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யாதவர்களின் தடைமுகாமுக்குப் போவோம் வா, ஒருவேளை யெகோவா, நம் சார்பாகச் செயலாற்றுவார். சிலர் மூலமோ, பலர் மூலமோ மீட்க, யெகோவாவிற்கு யாதொன்றும் தடையாயிராது” என்றான்.

And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armour, Come, and let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised: perhaps Jehovah will work for us; for there is no restraint to Jehovah to save by many or by few.

7 அதற்கு ஆயுதம் சுமப்போன், “உம்முடைய மனவிருப்பப்படியே செய்யும். முன்செல்லும் நீர் செய்வது எல்லாவற்றிலும் நானும் உம்மோடுகூட மனப்பூர்வமாய் இருப்பேன்” என்றான்.

And his armour-bearer said to him, Do all that is in thy heart; turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.

8 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் அவனிடம், “அப்படியானால் வா. நாம் கடந்து அந்த மனிதரை நோக்கிப் போவோம். அவர்கள் நம்மைக் காணட்டும்.

Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will shew ourselves to them.

9 அப்பொழுது அவர்கள், ‘நாங்கள் உங்களிடம் வரும்வரையும் அங்கேயே நில்லுங்கள்’ என்று சொல்வார்களேயானால் நாங்கள் அவர்களிடம் போகாமல் நின்ற இடத்திலேயே நிற்போம்.

If they say thus to us, Stand still until we come to you, then we will stay in our place, and will not go up to them.

10 ஆனால், ‘எங்களிடம் ஏறி வாருங்கள்’ என்று சொல்வார்களேயானால், நாங்கள் அவர்களிடம் ஏறிப்போவோம். யெகோவா அவர்களை எங்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்பதற்கு அதுவே நமக்கு அடையாளம்” என்றான்.

And if they say thus, Come up to us, then we will go up; for Jehovah has given them into our hand; and this shall be the sign to us.

11 அப்படியே அவர்கள் இருவரும் தடைமுகாமிலிருந்த பெலிஸ்தியருக்கு தங்களைக் காண்பித்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தியர், “பாருங்கள்! எபிரெயர் தாங்கள் ஒளித்திருந்த கிடங்குகளிலிருந்து தவழ்ந்து வெளியே வருகிறார்கள்” எனத் தங்களுக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டனர்.

And both of them shewed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

12 அப்பொழுது தடைமுகாமிலிருந்தவர்கள் யோனத்தானையும், அவனுடைய ஆயுதங்கள் சுமப்பவனையும் கூப்பிட்டு, “இங்கே ஏறி வாருங்கள். உங்களுக்கு ஒரு பாடம் படிப்பிப்போம்” என்றார்கள். அதைகேட்ட யோனத்தான் ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவனிடம், “யெகோவா அவர்களை இஸ்ரயேலரின் கைகளில் கொடுத்துவிட்டார். என்னைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து ஏறி வா” என்றான்.

And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armour-bearer and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you something. And Jonathan said to his armour-bearer, Come up after me; for Jehovah has delivered them into the hand of Israel.

13 யோனத்தான் கைகளாலும், கால்களாலும் ஊர்ந்து ஏறினான். அவனுடைய ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவனும் அவனுக்குப் பின்னால் ஏறினான். யோனத்தானால் தாக்கப்பட்டு பெலிஸ்தியர் விழுந்தார்கள். அவனைத் தொடர்ந்து வந்த ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவனும் அவர்களை வெட்டிக்கொன்றான்.

And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armour-bearer after him; and they fell before Jonathan; and his armour-bearer slew after him.

14 அந்த முதல் தாக்குதலின்போது யோனத்தானும், ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவனும் அரை ஏக்கர் நிலப்பகுதியில் ஏறக்குறைய இருபதுபேரைக் கொன்றார்கள்.

And that first slaughter which Jonathan and his armour-bearer wrought was about twenty men, as it were on the half-furrow of an acre of land.

15 அப்பொழுது முகாமுக்குள்ளும், வெளியிலும், தடைமுகாமிலும், திடீரெனத் தாக்கும் குழுவிலுள்ள எல்லாப் படைவீரர்களுக்குமே பீதி ஏற்பட்டது. அவ்வேளையில் நிலம் அதிர்ந்தது. இது இறைவனால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட பயங்கரம்.

And there was trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison, and the ravagers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked; for it was a trembling [from] God.

16 பெலிஸ்தியப் படை எல்லாப் பக்கங்களிலும் சிதறி ஓடிக் குறைந்து போவதை பென்யமீன் நாட்டிலுள்ள கிபியாவில் இருந்த சவுலின் காவற்காரர் கண்டனர்.

And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked, and behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on slaying one another.

17 அப்பொழுது சவுல் தன்னுடன் இருந்த வீரர்களிடம், “நம்மிடமிருந்தவர்களில் யார் எங்களைவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டார்கள் என்று கணக்கிட்டுப் பாருங்கள்” என்றான். அப்படியே அவர்கள் கணக்கிட்டுப் பார்த்தபோது, யோனத்தானும் அவனுடைய ஆயுதம் சுமப்பவனும் இல்லையென்று கண்டார்கள்.

Then said Saul to the people that were with him, Muster now, and see who is gone from us. And they mustered, and behold, Jonathan and his armour-bearer were not there.

18 எனவே சவுல் அகியாவிடம், “இறைவனுடைய பெட்டியை இங்கே கொண்டுவா” என்றான். அந்நாட்களில் அது இஸ்ரயேலரிடமே இருந்தது.

And Saul said to Ahijah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

19 இவ்வாறு சவுல் ஆசாரியனோடு பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில் பெலிஸ்தியரின் முகாமிலிருந்து வந்த அமளி சத்தம் மென்மேலும் அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டேயிருந்தது. எனவே சவுல் ஆசாரியனிடம், “உன் கையை எடுத்துவிடு” என்றான்.

And it came to pass while Saul talked to the priest, that the noise which was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased; and Saul said to the priest, Withdraw thy hand.

20 எனவே சவுலும் அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா மனிதரும் ஒன்றுகூடி யுத்தத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள். பெலிஸ்தியர் முற்றுமாய் குழப்பமடைந்து ஒருவரையொருவர் தாங்களே வாள்களினால் தாக்கிக்கொள்வதை இஸ்ரயேலர் கண்டார்கள்.

And Saul and all the people that were with him were called together, and they came to the battle; and behold, every man's sword was against his fellow, a very great confusion.

21 இவ்வேளையில் முன்பு பெலிஸ்தியருடன் வாழ்ந்த எபிரெயர், அவர்களுடன் அவர்களின் முகாமுக்குச் சென்றிருந்தார்கள். ஆனால் இப்பொழுதோ எபிரெயர் மாறி சவுலோடும் யோனத்தானோடுமிருந்த இஸ்ரயேலருடன் போய் சேர்ந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

And there were Hebrews with the Philistines before that time, who had gone up with them into the camp round about; and they also [turned] to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.

22 அதோடு பெலிஸ்தியருக்குப் பயந்து எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டில் ஒளித்திருந்த இஸ்ரயேலர் யாவரும், பெலிஸ்தியர் சிதறி ஓடுகிறார்களென்று கேள்விப்பட்டதும் யுத்தத்தில் இணைந்து பெலிஸ்தியரைப் பிடிக்க பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்று அவர்களைத் தாக்கினார்கள்.

And all the men of Israel who had hid themselves in mount Ephraim heard that the Philistines fled, and they also followed hard after them in the battle.

23 இவ்விதமாய் அன்றையதினம் யெகோவா இஸ்ரயேலரை மீட்டுக்கொண்டார். இந்த யுத்தமோ பெத் ஆவெனுக்கு அப்பாலும் நகர்ந்தது.

And Jehovah saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over beyond Beth-Aven.

24 அன்றையதினம் இஸ்ரயேலரை உபவாசம் இருக்கும்படி சவுல் கட்டளையிட்டதினால், அவர்கள் கஷ்டத்துக்குள்ளானார்கள். அப்பொழுது சவுல் அவர்களிடம், “நான் என் பகைவரைப் பழிவாங்க முன்பு எவன் மாலைவரை பொறுத்திராமல் சாப்பிடுகிறானோ அவன் சபிக்கப்படுவான்” என்று ஆணையிட்டுக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான். எனவே வீரர்களில் யாரும் உணவைச் சாப்பிடவில்லை.

But the men of Israel were distressed that day. Now Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food until evening, and [until] I am avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted food.

25 போர்வீரர்கள் அனைவரும் காட்டுக்குப் போனபோது, அங்கே தரையில் தேன் இருந்ததைக் கண்டார்கள்.

And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey on the ground.

26 அவர்கள் காட்டுக்குள் வந்தபோது தேன் ஒழுகிக்கொண்டிருந்தும் சவுலின் ஆணைக்குப் பயந்ததினால் ஒருவரும் தங்கள் கைகளால் தேனைத் தொட்டு வாய்க்குள் வைக்கவில்லை.

And the people had come into the wood, and behold, the honey flowed; but no man put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.

27 யோனத்தானோ தன் தகப்பன் யுத்த வீரருக்கு ஆணையிட்டு மக்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தியிருந்ததை அறியவில்லை. அதனால் அவன் தன் கையிலிருந்த கோலை நீட்டித் தேனில் தோய்த்து அதிலிருந்து வழிந்த தேனைத் தன் கையில் எடுத்து வாய்க்குள் வைத்தான். உடனே அவன் பெலனடைந்தான்.

But Jonathan had not heard when his father adjured the people; and he put forth the end of his staff which was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes became bright.

28 அப்பொழுது போர்வீரரில் ஒருவன் அவனிடம், “இன்று உணவு சாப்பிடும் மனிதன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என உம் தகப்பன் ஒரு கடும் ஆணையிட்டு வீரர்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார். இதனால்தான் போர்வீரர் பசியினால் சோர்ந்து இருக்கிறார்கள்” என்றான்.

Then answered one of the people and said, Thy father strictly adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food this day; and the people are faint.

29 இதைக் கேட்ட யோனத்தான் அவனிடம், “என் தகப்பனார் நாட்டிற்கு எப்படிப்பட்ட கஷ்டத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார். சிறிது தேனை சாப்பிட்டதால் நான் எவ்வளவு பெலனடைந்திருக்கிறேன்.

And Jonathan said, My father has troubled the land: see, I pray you, that mine eyes are bright, because I tasted a little of this honey.

30 இன்றைய தினம் தங்களுக்கு அகப்பட்ட பகைவர்களின் கொள்ளைப்பொருட்களில் சிலவற்றைச் சாப்பிட்டிருந்தால் எவ்வளவு நலமாயிருந்திருக்கும். பெலிஸ்தியரில் கொலையுண்டோர் இன்னும் அதிகமானோராய் இருந்திருப்பார்களே” என்றான்.

How much more, if the people had eaten freely to-day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for would there not now have been a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

31 அன்று இஸ்ரயேலர் மிக்மாசிலிருந்து ஆயலோன் மட்டும் பெலிஸ்தியரை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தியபின் அவர்கள் களைப்படைந்திருந்தார்கள்.

And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Ajalon; and the people were very faint.

32 அவர்கள் கொள்ளையடித்த பொருட்களின்மேல் பாய்ந்து, செம்மறியாடுகளையும், எருதுகளையும், கன்றுக்குட்டிகளையும் தரையின்மேல் போட்டுக் கொன்று, இரத்தத்துடன் அவற்றைச் சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.

And the people fell on the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slaughtered them on the ground; and the people ate [them] with the blood.

33 அப்பொழுது, “இதோ போர்வீரர் இரத்தத்துடன் இறைச்சியைச் சாப்பிட்டு யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்கிறார்கள்” என்று ஒருவன் சவுலுக்குச் சொன்னான். அதற்கு சவுல் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு எதிராக நம்பிக்கைத் துரோகம் செய்தீர்கள். எனவே இப்பொழுதே உடனே ஒரு பெரிய கல்லை என்னிடம் உருட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்” என்றான்.

And they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against Jehovah, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have acted perversely: roll me now a great stone.

34 பின்பு சவுல், “நீங்கள் மனிதர் மத்தியில் சென்று அவர்களிடம், ‘நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் உங்கள் மாடுகளையும், செம்மறியாடுகளையும் இங்கு கொண்டுவந்து அவற்றை இங்கே கொன்று சாப்பிடவேண்டும். நீங்கள் இரத்தத்தோடு இறைச்சியைச் சாப்பிட்டு யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்யவேண்டாம் என்று சொல்லுங்கள்’” என்றான். அவ்வாறே இஸ்ரயேலர் ஒவ்வொருவரும் அன்றிரவே தங்கள் மாடுகளைக் கொண்டுவந்து அங்கே வெட்டினார்கள்.

And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say to them, Bring near to me every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slaughter them here, and eat; and sin not against Jehovah in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slaughtered [them] there.

35 அதன்பின் சவுல் யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டினான். அவன் இவ்விதம் செய்தது இதுவே முதல் முறையாகும்.

And Saul built an altar to Jehovah: this was the first altar he built to Jehovah.

36 அதன்பின் சவுல் மக்களிடம், “நாம் இன்றிரவே பெலிஸ்தியரைத் தொடர்ந்துபோய் விடியும்வரை அவர்களைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு, அவர்களில் ஒருவரையும் உயிருடன் தப்பவிடாமல் தாக்குவோம்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “உமக்கு எது நல்லதாய்த் தோன்றுகிறதோ அதன்படி செய்யும்” என்றார்கள். ஆனால் ஆசாரியனோ சவுலிடம், “நாம் இங்கே முதலில் இறைவனிடம் போய் விசாரிப்போம்” என்றான்.

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and plunder them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever is good in thy sight. Then said the priest, Let us come near hither to God.

37 அப்பொழுது சவுல் இறைவனிடம், “நான் பெலிஸ்தியரைத் தொடர்ந்து போகலாமா? அவர்களை இஸ்ரயேலரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பீரா?” என்று கேட்டான். ஆனால் இறைவன் அன்று அவனுக்கு பதிலளிக்கவில்லை.

And Saul inquired of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou give them into the hand of Israel? But he did not answer him that day.

38 அதனால் சவுல் தன் படைத் தலைவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் அனைவரும் இங்கே வாருங்கள். இன்று என்ன பாவம் இங்கு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது என்பதை கண்டுபிடிப்போம்.

And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the heads of the people; and know and see wherein this sin has been this day.

39 அந்த பாவத்தைச் செய்தவன் என் மகன் யோனத்தானாயிருந்தாலும் அவனும் சாகவேண்டும். இஸ்ரயேலரை தப்புவிக்கிற யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில், அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்பதும் நிச்சயம்” என்றான். ஆனால் மனிதரில் ஒருவனும் ஒரு வார்த்தையும் பேசவில்லை.

For, [as] Jehovah liveth, who has saved Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall certainly die. And no one answered him among all the people.

40 அப்பொழுது சவுல் இஸ்ரயேலர் எல்லோரிடமும், “நீங்கள் அங்கே நில்லுங்கள். நானும் என் மகன் யோனத்தானும் இங்கே நிற்போம்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள் சவுலிடம், “நீர் சரியென்று நினைப்பதைச் செய்யும்” என்றார்கள்.

Then said he to all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said to Saul, Do what is good in thy sight.

41 எனவே சவுல் இஸ்ரயேலரின் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவிடம், “யெகோவாவே சரியான பதிலை எனக்குத் தாரும்” என்று மன்றாடினான். சீட்டு சவுலின்மேலும், யோனத்தான்மேலும் விழுந்தது. மக்கள் நீங்கலாக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

And Saul said to Jehovah the God of Israel, Give a perfect [testimony]! And Jonathan and Saul were taken, and the people escaped.

42 அப்பொழுது சவுல் மக்களிடம், “எனக்கும் என் மகன் யோனத்தானுக்குமிடையே சீட்டுப் போடுங்கள்” என்றான். யோனத்தானே குறிப்பிடப்பட்டான்.

And Saul said, Cast [lots] between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

43 எனவே சவுல் யோனத்தானிடம், “நீ என்ன குற்றம் செய்தாய்? எனக்குச் சொல்” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு யோனத்தான், “என்னுடைய கையிலிருந்த கோலின் நுனியால் கொஞ்சம் தேன் எடுத்துச் சுவைத்துப் பார்த்தேன். இப்பொழுது நான் சாகவேண்டுமோ?” என்று கேட்டான்.

And Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him and said, With the end of the staff which is in my hand I tasted a little honey, [and] behold, I must die!

44 அதற்கு சவுல், “யோனத்தானே, நீ சாகாவிட்டால் இறைவன் என்னை எவ்வளவு கடுமையாகவும் தண்டிக்கட்டும்” என்றான்.

And Saul said, God do so [to me] and more also; thou shalt certainly die, Jonathan.

45 ஆனால் மனிதர் சவுலிடம், “யோனத்தான் சாகவேண்டுமோ? அவனல்லவோ இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு இப்பெரிய விடுதலையைக் கொண்டுவந்தான். வேண்டாம்! யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில் அவன் தலையிலுள்ள ஒரு மயிரும் கீழே விழக்கூடாது. ஏனெனில் அவன் இறைவனின் உதவியுடனே இதை இன்று செய்தான்” என்றார்கள். இவ்விதம் மனிதர் யோனத்தானை விடுவித்ததினால் அவன் கொல்லப்படவில்லை.

And the people said to Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great salvation in Israel? Far be it! [as] Jehovah liveth, there shall not a hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has wrought with God this day. So the people delivered Jonathan, that he died not.

46 அதன்பின் சவுல் பெலிஸ்தியரைத் தொடராமல் திரும்பிவிட்டான். பெலிஸ்தியரும் தங்கள் சொந்த இடங்களுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போனார்கள்.

And Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.

47 சவுல் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை அரசாட்சி செய்யத் தொடங்கியபின், சுற்றிலுமுள்ள தன் பகைவரான மோவாபியர், அம்மோனியர், ஏதோமியர், சோபாவின் அரசர்கள், பெலிஸ்தியர் ஆகியோருடன் யுத்தம் செய்தான். அவன் திரும்பிய பக்கமெல்லாம் அவர்களுக்கு அவன் தண்டனையையே கொடுத்தான்.

And Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies round about, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines; and whithersoever he turned himself, he discomfited [them].

48 அவன் வீரத்துடன் போரிட்டு, அமலேக்கியரைத் தோற்கடித்து இஸ்ரயேலரைக் கொள்ளையடித்தவர்களிடமிருந்து அவர்களை விடுவித்தான்.

And the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Jishvi, and Malchi-shua. And the names of his two daughters: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.

50 சவுலின் மனைவியின் பெயர் அகினோவாம். இவள் அகிமாசின் மகள். சவுலின் படைத் தலைவனின் பெயர் அப்னேர். இவன் சவுலின் சிறிய தகப்பனான நேரின் மகன்.

And the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz; and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.

51 சவுலின் தகப்பன் கீஷ், அப்னேரின் தகப்பன் நேரும் அபியேலின் பிள்ளைகள்.

And Kish the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner were sons of Abiel.

52 சவுலின் காலம் முழுவதும் பெலிஸ்தியருடன் கடும் யுத்தம் நடந்தது. துணிவும், வீரமும் உள்ள ஒருவனைச் சவுல் கண்டால் உடனே அவனைத் தன் படையின் பணிக்குச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்வான்.
