1 சாமுவேல் 13

1 சவுல் அரசனானபோது முப்பது வயதுடையவனாயிருந்தான், அவன் இஸ்ரயேலில் நாற்பத்து இரண்டு வருடங்கள் அரசாண்டான்.

A son of a year [is] Saul in his reigning, yea, two years he hath reigned over Israel,

2 சவுல் இஸ்ரயேலிலிருந்து மூவாயிரம் பேரைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டான். அவர்களில் இரண்டாயிரம்பேர் சவுலுடன் மிக்மாசிலும், பெத்தேல் மலைநாட்டிலும் இருந்தார்கள். மற்ற ஆயிரம்பேர் யோனத்தானுடன் பென்யமீன் நாட்டிலுள்ள கிபியாவில் இருந்தார்கள். சவுல் மற்றவர்களை அவர்களுடைய வீடுகளுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

and Saul chooseth for himself three thousand [men] out of Israel; and two thousand are with Saul in Michmash, and in the hill-country of Beth-El; and a thousand have been with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin; and the remnant of the people he hath sent each to his tents.

3 யோனத்தான் கேபாவிலிருந்த பெலிஸ்தியரின் காவல் அரணைத் தாக்கினான். இதைப் பெலிஸ்தியர் கேள்விப்பட்டார்கள். பின்பு சவுல் எக்காளத்தை நாடெங்கிலும் ஊதுவித்து, “இதை எபிரெயர் கேட்கட்டும்” என்று சொன்னான்.

And Jonathan smiteth the garrison of the Philistines which [is] in Geba, and the Philistines hear, and Saul hath blown with a trumpet through all the land, saying, 'Let the Hebrews hear.'

4 “சவுல் பெலிஸ்தியரின் காவலரைத் தாக்கினதால் இஸ்ரயேலர் பெலிஸ்தியரின் வெறுப்புக்கு ஆளானார்கள் என்ற செய்தியை இஸ்ரயேலர் கேள்விப்பட்டார்கள்.” அப்பொழுது மக்கள் சவுலுடன் சேரும்படி கில்காலுக்கு வரவழைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

And all Israel have heard, saying, 'Saul hath smitten the garrison of the Philistines,' and also, 'Israel hath been abhorred by the Philistines;' and the people are called after Saul to Gilgal.

5 பெலிஸ்தியர் மூவாயிரம் இரதங்களோடும், ஆறாயிரம் குதிரைவீரர்களோடும், கடற்கரை மணல்போன்ற எண்ணற்ற படை வீரர்களோடும் இஸ்ரயேலருடன் போரிடும்படி ஒன்றுகூடினார்கள். அவர்கள் போய் பெத் ஆவெனுக்குக் கிழக்கேயுள்ள மிக்மாசிலே முகாமிட்டார்கள்.

And the Philistines have been gathered to fight with Israel; thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and a people as the sand which [is] on the sea-shore for multitude; and they come up and encamp in Michmash, east of Beth-Aven.

6 தங்களுடைய சூழ்நிலை ஆபத்தானது என்றும், தங்கள் படையினர் நெருக்கடிக்குள்ளாயிருக்கிறார்கள் என்றும் இஸ்ரயேலர் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் கலக்கமடைந்து, குகைகளிலும், அடர்ந்த காடுகளிலும், கற்பாறைகள் மத்தியிலும், குழிகளிலும், துரவுகளிலும் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And the men of Israel have seen that they are distressed, that the people hath been oppressed, and the people hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

7 எபிரெயரில் சிலர் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து காத் நாட்டுக்கும், கீலேயாத் நாட்டிற்கும்கூட போனார்கள். சவுலோ கில்காலிலே தங்கியிருந்தான். படையினர் பயத்தால் நடுங்கிக்கொண்டு அவனுடனிருந்தார்கள்.

And Hebrews have passed over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; and Saul [is] yet in Gilgal, and all the people have trembled after him.

8 சாமுயேல் குறிப்பிட்ட காலமான அந்த ஏழுநாள்வரை சாமுயேலுக்காக சவுல் காத்திருந்தான். சாமுயேலோ கில்காலுக்கு வரவில்லை, சவுலின் மனிதர் சிதறுண்டு போகத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

And he waiteth seven days, according to the appointment with Samuel, and Samuel hath not come to Gilgal, and the people are scattered from off him.

9 எனவே சவுல், “தகன காணிக்கைகளையும், சமாதான காணிக்கைகளையும் என்னிடம் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்றான். சவுல் தகன காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்தினான்.

And Saul saith, 'Bring nigh unto me the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings;' and he causeth the burnt-offering to ascend.

10 அவன் தகன காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்தி முடியும்வேளையில் சாமுயேல் அங்கே வந்துசேர்ந்தான். அப்பொழுது சவுல் அவனை வாழ்த்துவதற்காக வெளியே போனான்.

And it cometh to pass at his completing to cause the burnt-offering to ascend, that lo, Samuel hath come, and Saul goeth out to meet him, to bless him;

11 அப்பொழுது சாமுயேல் சவுலிடம், “நீ என்ன செய்துவிட்டாய்!” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு சவுல், “மனிதர் என்னை விட்டுச் சிதறிப்போனதையும், நீர் குறிப்பிட்ட நாளில் இங்கு வராததையும், பெலிஸ்தியர் மிக்மாசிலே கூடிவந்திருப்பதையும் நான் கண்டேன்.

and Samuel saith, 'What hast thou done?' And Saul saith, 'Because I saw that the people were scattered from off me, and thou hadst not come at the appointment of the days, and the Philistines are gathered to Michmash,

12 அப்போது, ‘பெலிஸ்தியர் எனக்கு எதிராகக் கில்காலுக்கு வரப்போகிறார்களே. நானோ இன்னும் யெகோவாவினுடைய தயவைத் தேடவில்லை’ என்று எண்ணியே தகன காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்தத் துணிந்தேன்” என்றான்.

and I say, Now do the Philistines come down unto me to Gilgal, and the face of Jehovah I have not appeased; and I force myself, and cause the burnt-offering to ascend.'

13 அதற்குச் சாமுயேல், “நீ புத்தியீனமாய் நடந்துவிட்டாயே! உன் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உனக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளையை நீ கைக்கொள்ளவில்லை. நீ அப்படிக் கைக்கொண்டிருந்தால் யெகோவா உன் அரசாட்சியை இஸ்ரயேலின்மேல் என்றென்றும் உறுதிப்படுத்தியிருப்பார்.

And Samuel saith unto Saul, 'Thou hast been foolish; thou hast not kept the command of Jehovah thy God, which He commanded thee, for now had Jehovah established thy kingdom over Israel unto the age;

14 ஆனால் இப்பொழுது உன்னுடைய அரசாட்சியோ நிலைநிற்காது. யெகோவாவினுடைய கட்டளையை நீ கைக்கொள்ளாது மீறியதால், யெகோவா தன் இருதயத்திற்கு உகந்த மனிதனைத் தெரிந்து அவனைத் தன் மக்களுக்குத் தலைவனாக நியமித்திருக்கிறார்” என்றான்.

and, now, thy kingdom doth not stand, Jehovah hath sought for Himself a man according to His own heart, and Jehovah chargeth him for leader over His people, for thou hast not kept that which Jehovah commanded thee.'

15 சாமுயேல் கில்காலிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, பென்யமீன் நாட்டிலுள்ள கிபியாவுக்குப் போனான். சவுல் தன்னோடு இருந்தவர்களைக் கணக்கிட்டுப் பார்த்தபோது கிட்டத்தட்ட அறுநூறு பேரிருந்தார்கள்.

And Samuel riseth, and goeth up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin; and Saul inspecteth the people who are found with him, about six hundred men,

16 பெலிஸ்தியர் மிக்மாசிலே முகாமிட்டிருந்தபோது சவுலும், அவன் மகன் யோனத்தானும், அவனோடிருந்த மனிதரும் பென்யமீன் நாட்டிலுள்ள கிபியாவில் தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

and Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people who are found with them, are abiding in Gibeah of Benjamin, and the Philistines have encamped in Michmash.

17 பெலிஸ்தியரின் முகாமிலிருந்து திடீர் தாக்குதல் செய்யும் குழுக்கள் மூன்று படைப் பிரிவுகளாகப் போயினர். முதற்படை சூவாவின் சுற்றுப்புறத்திலுள்ள ஒப்ராவை நோக்கிப் போனது.

And the destroyer goeth out from the camp of the Philistines — three detachments; the one detachment turneth unto the way of Ophrah, unto the land of Shual;

18 வேறோரு பிரிவு பெத் ஓரோனை நோக்கிப் போனது. மூன்றாவது பிரிவு பாலைவனப் பக்கமாய் உள்ள செபோயீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கின் மேலாக இருக்கும் எல்லை நாட்டை நோக்கிப் போனது.

and the one detachment turneth the way of Beth-Horon, and the one detachment turneth the way of the border which is looking on the valley of the Zeboim, toward the wilderness.

19 இஸ்ரயேல் நாடு முழுவதிலும் ஒரு கொல்லனும் காணப்படவில்லை. ஏனெனில் எபிரெயர் வாள்களையும், ஈட்டிகளையும் செய்யாதபடி பெலிஸ்தியர் பார்த்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And an artificer is not found in all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, 'Lest the Hebrews make sword or spear;'

20 எனவே இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அனைவரும் தங்கள் கலப்பைகளின் இரும்புகள், மண்வெட்டிகள், கோடரிகள், அரிவாள்கள் முதலியவற்றைத் தீட்டிக் கூர்மையாக்குவதற்கு பெலிஸ்தியரிடம் போகவேண்டியிருந்தது.

and all Israel go down to the Philistines, to sharpen each his ploughshare, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock;

21 கடப்பாரைகளையும், மண்வெட்டிகளையும் கூர்மையாக்குவதற்கு மூன்றில் இரண்டு சேக்கல் வெள்ளியும், முள் ஆயுதங்களையும், கோடரிகளையும் கூர்மையாக்குவதற்கும், தாற்றுக்கோல்களுக்கு முனை தீட்டுவதற்கும் மூன்றில் ஒரு சேக்கல் வெள்ளியும் கட்டணமாகக் கொடுக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது.

and there hath been the file for mattocks, and for coulters, and for three-pronged rakes, and for the axes, and to set up the goads.

22 எனவே யுத்தநாளன்று சவுலுடனும், யோனத்தானுடனும் இருந்த வீரர்களில் ஒருவரது கையிலேனும் வாளோ, ஈட்டியோ இருக்கவில்லை. சவுலும், அவன் மகன் யோனத்தானுமே ஆயுதங்களை வைத்திருந்தார்கள்.

And it hath been, in the day of battle, that there hath not been found sword and spear in the hand of any of the people who [are] with Saul and with Jonathan — and there is found to Saul and to Jonathan his son.

23 பெலிஸ்தியரின் ஒரு படைப் பிரிவு மிக்மாசிக்கு வெளியே கணவாய் மட்டும் வந்தது.

And the station of the Philistines goeth out unto the passage of Michmash.
