1 உங்கள் மத்தியில் சபைத்தலைவர்களாய் இருக்கிறவர்களிடம், உங்கள் உடன் தலைவனாகவும், கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய துன்பங்களுக்கு சாட்சியாகவும், வெளிப்படப்போகும் மகிமைக்கு பங்காளியாகவும் இருக்கிற நான் வேண்டிக்கொள்கிறதாவது:
Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed:
2 உங்களுடைய பராமரிப்பின்கீழ் இருக்கும், இறைவனுடைய மந்தைக்கு மேய்ப்பர்களாயிருங்கள். கண்காணிப்பாளர்களாகப் பணிசெய்யுங்கள். செய்யவேண்டியிருக்கிறதே என்பதற்காக செய்யாமல், நீங்கள் அப்படி இருக்கவேண்டுமென்று இறைவன் விரும்புகிறபடியால், மனவிருப்பத்துடன் அதைச் செய்யுங்கள்; பணம் சம்பாதிக்கும் பேராசையுடன் அதைச் செய்யாமல், வாஞ்சையுடன் அந்த ஊழியத்தைச் செய்யுங்கள்.
shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily; not for dishonest gain, but willingly;
3 உங்களிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்மேல் அதிகாரம் செலுத்துகிறவர்களாய் இல்லாமல், மந்தைக்கு முன்மாதிரியாய் இருங்கள்.
not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.
4 அப்படி நடப்பீர்களானால், பிரதான மேய்ப்பர் வெளிப்படும்போது, ஒருபோதும் மங்கிப்போகாத மகிமையின் கிரீடத்தை நீங்கள் பெற்றுக்கொள்வீர்கள்.
When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
5 இளைஞர்களே, அந்தப்படியே நீங்களும் சபைத்தலைவர்களுக்கு அடங்கி நடங்கள். நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் மற்றவர்களுடன் பழகும்போது, மனத்தாழ்மையை ஆடையாய் அணிந்திருங்கள். ஏனெனில், “பெருமையுள்ளவர்களை இறைவன் எதிர்க்கிறார். ஆனால், தாழ்மையுள்ளவர்களுக்கோ கிருபையைக் கொடுக்கிறார்.”
Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
6 ஆகவே, இறைவனுடைய வல்லமையான கரத்தின்கீழே உங்களைத் தாழ்த்துங்கள். அப்பொழுது ஏற்றவேளையில், அவர் உங்களை உயர்த்துவார்.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,
7 உங்கள் கவலைகளையெல்லாம் இறைவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர் உங்கள்மேல் அக்கறையுள்ளவராய் இருக்கிறார்.
casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
8 தன்னடக்கம் உள்ளவர்களாயும் விழிப்புள்ளவர்களாயும் இருங்கள். உங்கள் பகைவனான பிசாசு கர்ஜிக்கின்ற சிங்கத்தைப்போல், யாரை விழுங்கலாம் என்று அலைந்து தேடித்திரிகிறான்.
Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 விசுவாசத்தில் உறுதியாயிருந்து, பிசாசை எதிர்த்து நில்லுங்கள். ஏனெனில் உலகமெங்குமுள்ள உங்கள் சகோதர சகோதரிகளும் இதேவிதமான வேதனைகளின் வழியாக போய்க்கொண்டிருப்பதை நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
10 எல்லாக் கிருபையையும் கொடுக்கிற இறைவனே உங்களைக் கிறிஸ்துவில் தமது நித்திய மகிமைக்கு அழைத்திருக்கிறார். சிறிது காலத்திற்கு நீங்கள் துன்பத்தை அனுபவித்த பின்பு, அவரே உங்களைச் சீர்ப்படுத்தி பெலப்படுத்துவார். உங்களை உறுதியாய் நிலைப்படுத்துவார். (aiōnios g166)
But may the God of all grace, who called you to his consummate (aiōnios g166) glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
12 சில்வானின் உதவியுடனே நான் உங்களுக்குச் சுருக்கமாக எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். அவனை ஒரு உண்மையுள்ள சகோதரனாகவே நான் எண்ணுகிறேன். உங்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தவும், இதுவே இறைவனின் மெய்யான கிருபை என்று உங்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாகக் கூறவும், இதை எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். எனவே, இந்தக் கிருபையில் நீங்கள் உறுதியாய் நிலைத்து நில்லுங்கள்.
Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
13 உங்களோடேகூட தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட புதிய பாபிலோனிலுள்ள திருச்சபையும், உங்களுக்கு தங்களது வாழ்த்துதலை அனுப்புகிறது. அப்படியே என் மகன் மாற்குவும் வாழ்த்துதலை அனுப்புகிறான்.
She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you. So does Mark, my son.
14 ஒருவரையொருவர் அன்பின் முத்தத்துடன் வாழ்த்துங்கள். கிறிஸ்துவில் இருக்கின்ற உங்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் சமாதானம் உண்டாவதாக. ஆமென்.
