1 கொரிந்தியர் 14

1 அன்பின் வழியைப் பின்பற்றி, ஆவிக்குரிய வரங்களைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதில் வாஞ்சையுடையவர்களாய் இருங்கள். விசேஷமாக இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கும் வரத்தை விரும்புங்கள்.

Strive to possess love; and desire earnestly the spiritual gifts, but especially that of prophesying.

2 ஏனெனில், ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழியைப் பேசுகிறவன் மற்ற மனிதருடன் அதைப் பேசுவதில்லை, அவன் இறைவனுடனேயே பேசுகிறான். அவன் பேசுவது மற்றவர்களுக்கு விளங்குவதில்லை; அவன் ஆவியானவரின் ஆற்றலைப் பெற்று, இரகசியங்களைப் பேசுகிறான்.

For he that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue speaketh not to men, but to God; for no one heareth; but in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries;

3 ஆனால் இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கும் ஒவ்வொருவனும், மனிதருக்கு தைரியத்தையும், உற்சாகத்தையும், ஆறுதலையும் ஏற்படுத்தும்படி பேசுகிறான்.

but he that prophesieth speaketh to men edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழியைப் பேசுகிறவன், தனது சொந்த வளர்ச்சிக்காகவே அதைப் பேசுகிறான். ஆனால் இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கிறவனோ, திருச்சபையின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவியாயிருக்கிறான்.

He that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

5 நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும், ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழிகளில் பேசவேண்டும் என்று நான் விரும்புகிறேன். ஆனால், நீங்கள் இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கிறவர்களாய் இருப்பதையே, நான் இன்னும் அதிகமாய் விரும்புகிறேன். இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கிறவன், ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசுகிறவனைவிட, மதிப்புமிக்க ஒரு பணியைச் செய்கிறான். ஆனால், ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழி ஒருவன் விளங்கத்தக்க விதத்தில் எடுத்துச் சொல்லப்பட்டால், அதுவும் திருச்சபையின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவியாய் இருக்கும்.

I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied; for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, unless he interpret, that the church may receive edification.

6 பிரியமானவர்களே, இப்பொழுது நான் உங்களிடம் வந்து, வேற்று மொழிகளில் பேசினால், என்னால் நீங்கள் அடையும் நன்மையென்ன. இறைவனிடமிருந்து ஒரு வெளிப்பாட்டையோ, அறிவையோ, இறைவாக்கையோ அல்லது ஒரு அறிவுறுத்தும் வார்த்தையையோ உங்களுக்கு வழங்கினால் மட்டுமே, அது நன்மையளிக்கும்.

But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by teaching?

7 ஒலிகளை எழுப்பும் புல்லாங்குழல், வீணை போன்ற உயிரற்ற வாத்தியக் கருவிகளைப் பாருங்கள். அவற்றிலிருந்து வரும் இசை, வித்தியாசமான சுரங்களைக் காண்பிக்காவிட்டால், அவற்றில் எழுப்பும் இராகத்தை யார் அறிந்துகொள்வான்?

And even things without life that give sound, whether pipe or harp, if they make no distinction in the sounds, how shall that be known which is piped or harped?

8 எக்காளம் யுத்த அழைப்பிற்கான தெளிவான ஒலியை எழுப்பாவிடில், யுத்தத்திற்கு யார் ஆயத்தமாவான்?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

9 அதேபோலவே நீங்களும், மற்றவர்களால் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளக்கூடிய வார்த்தைகளை உங்கள் நாவினால் பேசாவிட்டால், நீங்கள் என்ன சொல்கிறீர்கள் என்பது யாருக்காவது விளங்குமா? உங்கள் பேச்சு காற்றோடு காற்றாய்ப் போய்விடுமே.

So also ye, unless ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall that be known which is spoken? For ye will be speaking into the air.

10 நிச்சயமாக உலகத்தில் பலவித மொழிகள் இருக்கின்றன. ஆனால், அவற்றில் எதுவும் அர்த்தமற்ற மொழியல்ல.

There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and not one is without meaning.

11 எனவே, ஒருவன் பேசுகின்ற மொழியின் அர்த்தத்தை நான் அறிந்துகொள்ளாவிட்டால், அதைப் பேசுகிறவனுக்கு நான் ஒரு அந்நியனாயிருப்பேன். அவனும் எனக்கு அந்நியனாயிருப்பான்.

If then I know not the meaning of the language, I shall be to him that speaketh a foreigner, and he that speaketh a foreigner to me.

12 உங்களுக்கும் அப்படியே. நீங்கள் ஆவிக்குரிய வரங்களின்மேல் வாஞ்சையுள்ளவர்களாய் இருப்பதனால், திருச்சபையைக் கட்டியெழுப்பும் வரங்களில் வளர்ச்சியடைய முயலுங்கள்.

So also ye, since ye are eager to possess spiritual gifts, be earnest to abound in them to the edification of the church.

13 இதன் காரணமாகவே, ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழியைப் பேசுகிறவன், அதை விளங்கும்மொழியில் மற்றவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லும் ஆற்றலையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி மன்றாட வேண்டும்.

Wherefore let him that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue pray that he may interpret.

14 ஏனெனில், நான் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழியின் மூலமாய் மன்றாடும்போது, எனது ஆவியே மன்றாடுகிறது. எனது மனமோ பயனற்றதாயிருக்கிறது.

For if I pray in an [[unknown]] tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

15 ஆகவே நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும்? நான் எனது ஆவியினாலும் மன்றாடுவேன், எனது மனதினாலும் மன்றாடுவேன்; நான் எனது ஆவியினாலும் பாடுவேன், மனதினாலும் பாடுவேன்.

How stands it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

16 நீங்கள் உங்களுடைய ஆவியினாலே இறைவனுக்குத் துதியைச் செலுத்தும்போது, பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரின் வரங்களைப் பற்றிய கற்றுக்கொள்ளாதவன் உங்கள் மத்தியில் இருந்தால், அவன் எப்படி உங்களது நன்றி செலுத்துதலுக்கு, “ஆமென்” என்று சொல்வான். ஏனெனில், நீங்கள் என்ன சொல்கிறீர்கள் என்று அவனுக்குத் தெரியாதே.

Else, if thou bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the place of the unlearned say the Amen at thy giving of thanks, since he understandeth not what thou art saying?

17 நீங்கள் நல்லவிதமாகவே நன்றி செலுத்தலாம். அது மற்றவனுடைய வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவவில்லையே.

For thou indeed givest thanks well; but the other is not edified.

18 உங்கள் எல்லோரையும்விட அதிகமாய் நான் ஆவியானவர் கொடுக்கும் வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசுகிறேன். இதற்காக நான் இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறேன்.

I thank God, I speak in an [[unknown]] tongue more than ye all;

19 ஆனால், திருச்சபையோர் மத்தியில் வேற்று மொழியில் பத்தாயிரம் வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவதைவிட, மற்றவர்களுக்கு அறிவுரை வழங்கும்படியாக ஐந்து வார்த்தைகளை பேசுவதையே நான் அதிகம் விரும்புகிறேன்.

yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might also instruct others, than ten thousand words in an [[unknown]] tongue.

20 பிரியமானவர்களே, நீங்கள் சிறுபிள்ளைகளைப்போல் சிந்திப்பதை நிறுத்துங்கள். தீய செயல்களைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் குழந்தைகளைப்போல களங்கமற்று இருங்கள். ஆனால் உங்கள் சிந்திக்கும் ஆற்றலிலே வளர்ச்சியடைந்தவர்களாய் இருங்கள்.

Brethren, do not become children in understanding; yet in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

21 “வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசுகிறவர்களைக்கொண்டும், புரியாத உதடுகளைக்கொண்டும் இந்த மக்களுடன் நான் பேசுவேன். அப்பொழுதும் இவர்கள் நான் சொல்வதைக் கேட்கமாட்டார்கள், என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்கிறார்” என மோசேயின் சட்டத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே.

In the Law it is written: “With men of other tongues and with other lips will I speak to this people,

22 எனவே, வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசுவது, அவிசுவாசிகளுக்கு ஒரு அடையாளமாய் இருக்கிறதேயன்றி, விசுவாசிகளுக்கு அல்ல. இறைவாக்குரைப்பதோ விசுவாசிகளுக்கே அன்றி, அது அவிசுவாசிகளுக்கு அல்ல.

and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.” Wherefore the tongues are for a sign, not to believers, but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers, but for believers.

23 எனவே திருச்சபையோர் எல்லோரும் கூடிவரும்போது, எல்லோரும் வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசினால், அங்கு வருகின்ற ஆவிக்குரிய வரங்களைப் பற்றி விளக்கமில்லாதவர்களும், அவிசுவாசிகளும் உங்களைப் பார்த்து, நீங்கள் பைத்தியக்காரர் என்று சொல்லமாட்டார்களா?

If therefore the whole church be assembled in one place, and all be speaking with tongues, and there come in those who are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

24 ஆனால் எல்லோரும் இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தால், அப்பொழுது அங்கு வருகின்ற அவிசுவாசியோ, அல்லது அந்த விளக்கமில்லாதவனோ, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் சொல்லும் இறைவாக்கின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, தான் பாவி என்று எடுத்துக்காட்டும். அவன் கேட்கும் வார்த்தைகளெல்லாம், அவனை நியாயந்தீர்க்கும்.

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that is an unbeliever, or unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is searched through by all,

25 அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய இருதயத்தின் இரகசியம் எல்லாம் வெளியாகும். எனவே அவன், முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து இறைவனை வழிபட்டு, “உண்மையாகவே இறைவன் உங்கள் மத்தியில் இருக்கிறார்!” என்று அறிக்கையிடுவான்.

the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is indeed within you.

26 ஆகையால் பிரியமானவர்களே, நாங்கள் என்னத்தைச் சொல்வோம்? நீங்கள் ஒன்றுகூடி வரும்போது, ஒருவன் ஒரு பாட்டைப் பாடுகிறான்; மற்றொருவன், ஒரு அறிவுறுத்தும் வார்த்தையைக் கொடுக்கிறான்; இன்னொருவன் தான் பெற்ற வெளிப்பாட்டைத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறான்; வேறொருவன், வேற்று மொழியில் பேசுகிறான்; இன்னொருவன், அதை மொழிபெயர்க்கிறான். இவை எல்லாம் திருச்சபையின் வளர்ச்சிக்காகவே செய்யப்படவேண்டும்.

How is it then, brethren? When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a lesson of instruction, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation; let all things be done for edification.

27 எவராவது வேறொரு மொழியில் பேசுவதாயிருந்தால், இரண்டு பேரோ, அல்லது மூன்று பேரோ மட்டும் அப்படிப் பேசட்டும். அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவராகப் பேசவேண்டும். யாராவது ஒருவர் அதை மொழிபெயர்த்துச் சொல்லவேண்டும்.

If any one speak in an [[unknown]] tongue, let it be by two, or, at the most, by three, and in turn; and let one interpret.

28 ஆனால், அதை மொழி பெயர்க்கக்கூடிய ஒருவன் திருச்சபையில் இல்லாதிருந்தால், அப்படிப்பேசுகிறவன் திருச்சபையில் மவுனமாய் இருக்கவேண்டும். அவன் உள்ளத்தில் தனக்குள்ளேயே இறைவனிடம் பேசிக்கொள்ளட்டும்.

But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

29 இறைவாக்குரைப்போரும், இரண்டு பேரோ அல்லது மூன்று பேரோ பேசலாம். மற்றவர்களோ, சொல்லப்பட்ட செய்தியைக் கவனமாக ஆராய்ந்து பார்க்கவேண்டும்.

And of the prophets let two or three speak, and let the others judge;

30 பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறவனுக்கு அருகே உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறவன், இறைவனிடமிருந்து ஒரு வெளிப்பாட்டைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டால், பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறவன் தான் பேசுவதை நிறுத்தவேண்டும்.

if anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first speaker be silent.

31 இப்படி நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் ஒருவர் பின் ஒருவராக இறைவாக்கு உரைக்கலாம். இதனால், நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டு ஊக்கம் பெறலாம்.

For one by one ye can all prophesy, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted.

32 இறைவாக்குரைப்போரின் ஆவிகள் அவர்களின் கட்டுப்பாட்டிற்குள் அடங்கியவையாக இருக்கின்றன.

And spirits of prophets are subject to prophets;

33 ஏனெனில், இறைவன் ஒழுங்கின்மையை ஏற்படுத்தும் இறைவன் அல்ல. பரிசுத்தவான்களின் எல்லாத் திருச்சபைகளிலும் இருப்பதுபோலவே, அவர் அமைதியையே ஏற்படுத்துகிறவர்.

for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

34 திருச்சபைக் கூட்டங்களில் பெண்கள் மவுனமாக இருக்கவேண்டும். பேசுவதற்கு அவர்களுக்கு அனுமதி கொடுக்கப்படுகிறதில்லை. யூதச்சட்டத்தில் சொல்லியிருக்கிறபடி, அவர்கள் தலைமைத்துவத்தில் இருக்கக்கூடாது.

let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as also saith the Law.

35 பெண்கள் எதைப்பற்றியாவது அறிந்துகொள்ள விரும்பினால், அதை வீட்டில் தங்கள் சொந்த கணவர்களிடம் இருந்து கேட்டு அறிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும்; ஏனெனில் திருச்சபையிலே பெண்கள் பேசுவது அவர்களுக்கு அவமானமாயிருக்கும்.

And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church.

36 இறைவனுடைய வார்த்தை உங்களுடன்தான் ஆரம்பமாயிற்றோ? அல்லது உங்களிடம் மட்டும்தான் அது வந்து சேர்ந்ததோ?

What! Did the word of God come forth from you? Or did it come to you alone?

37 உங்களில் யாராவது தன்னை ஒரு இறைவாக்கினன் என்றோ, அல்லது ஆவிக்குரிய வரம் பெற்றவன் என்றோ எண்ணினால், நான் உங்களுக்கு எழுதுவது கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளைகள் என்பதை அவன் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்.

If any one thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him know surely that the directions I am writing to you are the Lord's;

38 இதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாவிட்டால், அவனையும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம்.

but if any one be ignorant, let him be ignorant!

39 ஆகவே பிரியமானவர்களே, இறைவாக்கு உரைப்பதில் ஆர்வமுள்ளவர்களாக இருங்கள். ஆனால், வேற்று மொழிகளைப் பேசுவதையோ தடுக்கவேண்டாம்.

Wherefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues;

40 எல்லாக் காரியங்களும் ஏற்றவிதத்திலும், ஒழுங்காகவும் செய்யப்படவேண்டும்.

but let all things be done becomingly, and in order.
