Jeremias 29
1 Ito nga ang mga salita ng sulat na ipinadala ni Jeremias na propeta mula sa Jerusalem sa nalabi sa mga matanda sa pagkabihag, at sa mga saserdote, at sa mga propeta, at sa buong bayan, na dinalang bihag ni Nabucodonosor sa Babilonia mula sa Jerusalem:
After King Jehoiachin, his mother, his palace officials, other officials in Judah, and all the various kinds of craftsmen [DOU] had been exiled to Babylon, I wrote a letter to the elders, the priests, the prophets and all the other people who had been taken from Jerusalem to Babylon by [soldiers of] Nebuchadnezzar.
2 (Pagkatapos na makaalis sa Jerusalem si Jechonias na hari, at ang ina ng hari, at ang mga bating, at ang mga prinsipe sa Juda at sa Jerusalem, at ang mga manggagawa at ang mga mangbabakal; )
3 Sa pamamagitan ng kamay ni Elasa na anak ni Saphan, at ni Gemarias na anak ni Hilcias, (na siyang sinugo sa Babilonia ni Sedechias na hari sa Juda kay Nabucodonosor na hari sa Babilonia, ) na nagsasabi,
[I gave] the letter to Elasah the son of Shaphan, and to Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, when they were about to go to Babylon to be ambassadors from King Zedekiah to King Nebuchadnezzar. This is what I wrote in the letter:
4 Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, ng Dios ng Israel, sa lahat ng bihag na aking ipinadalang bihag sa Babilonia mula sa Jerusalem,
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says to all you people who were captured [here] in Jerusalem and taken [there] to Babylon:
5 Kayo'y mangagtayo ng mga bahay, at inyong tahanan; at kayo'y maghalamanan, at kanin ninyo ang bunga ng mga yaon.
“Build houses [there], and plan to stay there [because you will be there for many years]. Plant gardens, and eat the food that is produced in the gardens.
6 Magsipagasawa kayo, at kayo'y mangagkaanak ng mga lalake at mga babae; at ikuha ninyo ng mga asawa ang inyong mga anak na lalake, at inyong ibigay na asawa ang inyong mga anak na babae, upang sila'y mangagkaanak ng mga lalake at mga babae: at kayo'y magsidami roon, at huwag kayong magpakaunti.
Get married and have children. Then [when they grow up], choose wives for your sons, and husbands for your daughters, in order that they [also] may have children. [In that way], the number of you people will increase, not decrease.
7 At inyong hanapin ang kapayapaan sa bayan na aking pinagdalhan sa inyong bihag, at inyong idalangin sa Panginoon: sapagka't sa kapayapaan niyaon ay magkakaroon naman kayo ng kapayapaan.
Also, do things that will cause things to go well [for the other people there] in the city where I sent you. Pray that things will go well for [the people in] that city, because if things go well for them, things will go well for you, [also].”
8 Sapagka't ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, ng Dios ng Israel, Huwag kayong dayain ng mga propeta na nangasa gitna ninyo, at ng inyong mga manghuhula, o mangakinig man kayo sa inyong mga panaginip na inyong napapanaginip.
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israeli people [worship], says: “There are [false] prophets and fortune-tellers among you. Do not allow them to deceive you. Do not pay attention to [them when they tell you] their dreams,
9 Sapagka't sila'y nanganghuhulang may kasinungalingan sa inyo sa aking pangalan: hindi ko sinugo sila, sabi ng Panginoon.
because they are telling you lies, saying that [MTY] [I have given them the messages that they are telling you]. But, I have not appointed them.”
10 Sapagka't ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon, Pagkatapos na maganap ang pitong pung taon sa Babilonia, aking dadalawin kayo, at aking tutuparin ang aking mabuting salita sa inyo, sa pagpapabalik sa inyo sa dakong ito.
This is [also] what Yahweh says: “After you [and your children] have been in Babylon for seventy years, I will help you, and do for you the things that I promised, and I will enable you to return here [to Jerusalem].
11 Sapagka't nalalaman ko ang mga pagiisip na aking iniisip sa inyo, sabi ng Panginoon, mga pagiisip tungkol sa kapayapaan, at hindi tungkol sa kasamaan, upang bigyan kayo ng pagasa sa inyong huling wakas.
I, Yahweh, know what I have planned for you. I am planning to cause things to go well for you, not to cause you to experience disasters. I am planning to give you many things that you confidently expect to receive in the future.
12 At kayo'y magsisitawag sa akin, at kayo'y magsisiyaon at magsisidalangin sa akin, at aking didinggin kayo.
At that time, when you pray, I will heed you.
13 At inyong hahanapin ako, at masusumpungan ako, pagka inyong sisiyasatin ako ng inyong buong puso.
If you earnestly desire for me [to bless you], you will experience me [blessing you].
14 At ako'y masusumpungan sa inyo, sabi ng Panginoon, at aking ibabalik uli kayo na mula sa inyong pagkabihag, at aking pipisanin kayo mula sa lahat ng bansa, at mula sa lahat ng dako na aking pinagtabuyan sa inyo, sabi ng Panginoon; at aking ibabalik kayo uli sa dakong mula sa aking pinagdalhang bihag sa inyo.
I will make my help available to you [IDM]. I will cause you to no longer be slaves [in Babylon]. I will gather you from all the nations to which I have exiled you, and I will bring you back [here to your own land], to the place from which you were taken.”
15 Sapagka't inyong sinabi, Ang Panginoon ay nagbangon sa amin ng mga propeta sa Babilonia.
[Some of] you say that Yahweh has appointed prophets for you [there] in Babylon.
16 Sapagka't ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon tungkol sa hari na nauupo sa luklukan ni David, at tungkol sa buong bayan na tumatahan sa bayang ito, sa inyo ngang mga kapatid na hindi nagsilabas na kasama ninyo sa pagkabihag;
But this is what Yahweh says about the king who rules [here] in Jerusalem, and about all the other people who are [still] living here—your relatives who were not taken to Babylon with you.
17 Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, Narito, aking susuguin sa kanila ang tabak, ang kagutom at ang salot, at gagawin ko silang parang masamang igos, na hindi makakain, dahil sa nangapakasama.
The Commander of the armies of angels says this: “I will cause them to experience wars and famines and diseases. I will cause them to become like [SIM] bad figs that are very rotten, with the result that no one can eat them.
18 At aking hahabulin sila ng tabak, at kagutom, at ng salot, at aking ibibigay sila sa kakutyaan na paroo't parito sa gitna ng lahat na kaharian sa lupa, upang maging kasumpaan, at katigilan, at kasutsutan, at katuyaan, sa gitna ng lahat na bansa na aking pinagtabuyan sa kanila;
I will not stop causing them to experience wars and famines and diseases. And I will scatter them all around the world. In every country where I (force them to be taken/exile them), I will cause them to be people whom [others] curse and be horrified about and make fun of [DOU].
19 Sapagka't hindi sila nangakinig sa aking mga salita, sabi ng Panginoon, na aking mga ipinasugo sa aking mga propeta, na ako'y bumangong maaga at sinugo ko sila; nguni't hindi ninyo dininig sila, sabi ng Panginoon.
[That will happen] because they have refused to pay attention to my messages, messages that I gave to the prophets whom I sent to them. And you [who have been exiled to Babylon] have not paid attention to them, [either].” [That is what] Yahweh says.
20 Inyo ngang dinggin ang salita ng Panginoon, ninyong lahat na nasa pagkabihag, na aking itinaboy sa Babilonia mula sa Jerusalem.
[Therefore], you people who have been (exiled/forced to go) from Jerusalem to Babylon, listen to this message from Yahweh.
21 Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, ng Dios ng Israel, tungkol kay Achab na anak ni Colias, at tungkol kay Sedechias na anak ni Maasias na nanghuhula ng kasinungalingan sa inyo sa aking pangalan, Narito, aking ibibigay sila sa kamay ni Nabucodonosor na hari sa Babilonia; at papatayin niya sila sa harap ng inyong mga mata;
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says about Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and about Zedekiah, the son of Maaseiah, who are telling lies to you, saying that they are giving messages [MTY] from him: “They will be seized and taken to [MTY] King Nebuchadnezzar, who will cause them to be executed while you are watching.
22 At sa kanila kukuha ng kasumpaan sa lahat ng bihag sa Juda na nangasa Babilonia, na magsasabi, Gawin ka ng Panginoon na gaya ni Sedechias at gaya ni Achab, na iniihaw sa apoy ng hari sa Babilonia.
Because of [what will happen to] them, all you people who have been taken from Judah to Babylon will say this when they curse someone: ‘I hope/wish that Yahweh will do to you the same thing that he did to Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the King of Babylon caused to be [killed by being] burned in a fire.’
23 Sapagka't sila'y gumawang may kamangmangan sa Israel, at nangalunya sa mga asawa ng kanilang mga kapuwa, at nangagsalita ng mga salita sa aking pangalan na may kasinungalingan, na hindi ko iniutos sa kanila; at ako ang siyang nakakakilala, at ako'y saksi, sabi ng Panginoon.
They have done terrible things to [my] Israeli people. They have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and they have spoken lies, saying that they were messages [MTY] from me. They have said things that I did not tell them to say, and I, Yahweh, have heard them [say those things].”
24 At tungkol kay Semaias na Nehelamita ay iyong sasalitain, na sasabihin,
[Yahweh told me to] send this message to Shemaiah, a man from Nehelam [town who was living in Babylon]:
25 Ganito ang sinasalita ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, ng Dios ng Israel, na sinasabi, Sapagka't ikaw ay nagpadala ng mga sulat sa iyong sariling pangalan sa buong bayan na nasa Jerusalem, at kay Sophonias na anak ni Maasias na saserdote, at sa lahat na saserdote, na iyong sinasabi,
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says: “You wrote a letter that no one told you to write. You sent it to Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, and [you sent copies] to the other priests and all the [other] people here in Jerusalem. [This is what] you wrote to him:
26 Ginawa kang saserdote ng Panginoon na kahalili ni Joiada na saserdote, upang kayo'y maging mga lingkod sa bahay ng Panginoon, sa bawa't tao na ulol, at nagpapanggap na propeta, upang iyong mailagay sa pangawan at sa mga tanikala.
[Zephaniah], Yahweh has appointed you to be the priest instead of Jehoiada, to supervise those who work in the temple. Anyone who acts like a crazy man and who claims that he is a prophet, you should put his arms and legs and head into (stocks/a wooden frame [so that he cannot move)].
27 Ngayon nga, bakit hindi mo sinaway si Jeremias na taga Anathoth, na nagpapanggap na propeta sa inyo,
So why have you not done anything to stop Jeremiah, the man from Anathoth [town], who [pretends that he] is a prophet among you?
28 Yamang siya'y nagsugo sa Babilonia, na nagsasabi, Ang pagkabihag ay malaon: kayo'y mangagtayo ng mga bahay at inyong tahanan; at kayo'y mangaghalaman, at inyong kanin ang bunga ng mga yaon?
He sent a letter to us [who are here] in Babylon, saying that [we will be here for] a long time. He said that [therefore] we should build houses and plan to stay here, and plant gardens, and eat the food that is produced in the gardens.”
29 At binasa ni Sophonia na saserdote ang sulat na ito sa mga pakinig ni Jeremias na propeta.
[But when] Zephaniah the priest [received] the letter from you, he [brought it to me and] read it to me.
30 Nang magkagayo'y dumating ang salita ng Panginoon kay Jeremias, na nagsasabi,
Then Yahweh gave me this message:
31 Ikaw ay magsugo sa kanilang lahat na nasa pagkabihag, na iyong sabihin, Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon tungkol kay Semaias na Nehelamita. Yamang nanghula si Semaias sa inyo, at hindi ko sinugo siya, at kaniyang pinatiwala kayo sa kasinungalingan.
“Send this message to all the people [from Judah] who are there [in Babylon]. Say that this is what Yahweh says about Shemaiah, the man from Nehelam: ‘I did not appoint him, but he has deceived you and caused you to believe the lies that he prophesied.
32 Kaya't ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon, Narito, aking parurusahan si Semaias na Nehelamita, at ang kaniyang binhi; siya'y hindi magkakaroon ng lalake na tatahan sa gitna ng bayang ito, o mamamasdan man niya ang mabuti na gagawin ko sa aking bayan, sabi ng Panginoon, sapagka't siya'y nagsalita ng panghihimagsik laban sa Panginoon.
So, I will punish him and his family. He has incited you to rebel against me. Because of that, all of his descendants will soon die. I will do [many] good things for [you], my people, but he and his descendants will not see those things, [because they will be dead]. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh, have said it!’”
