1 För sångmästaren, med strängaspel; en psalm, en sång av Asaf. Gud är känd i Juda, i Israel är hans namn stort;
For the chief musician, on stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph, a song. God has made himself known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
2 i Salem vart hans hydda rest och hans boning på Sion.
His tent is in Salem; his dwelling place is in Zion.
3 Där bröt han sönder bågens ljungeldar, sköld och svärd och vad till kriget hör. (Sela)
There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, the sword, and the other weapons of war. (Selah)
4 Full av ljus och härlighet går du fram ifrån segerbytenas berg.
You shine brightly and reveal your glory, as you descend from the mountains, where you killed your victims.
5 De stormodiga äro avväpnade, de hava slumrat in och sova; alla stridsmännen hava måst låta händerna falla.
The bravehearted were plundered; they fell asleep. All the warriors were helpless.
6 För din näpst, du Jakobs Gud, ligga domnade både man och häst.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both rider and horse fell asleep.
7 Du, du är fruktansvärd; vem kan bestå inför dig, när du vredgas?
You, yes you, are to be feared; who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
8 Från himmelen lät du höra din dom; då förskräcktes jorden och vart stilla,
From heaven you made your judgment heard; the earth was afraid and silent
9 då när Gud stod upp till dom, till att frälsa alla ödmjuka på jorden. (Sela)
when you, God, arose to execute judgment and to save all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)
10 Ty människors vrede varder dig till pris; du har vrede till övers att omgjorda dit med.
Surely your angry judgment against humanity will bring you praise; you gird yourself with what is left of your anger.
11 Gören löften och infrien dem åt HERREN, eder Gud; alla de som äro omkring honom bäre fram skänker åt den Fruktansvärde.
Make vows to Yahweh your God and keep them. May all who surround him bring gifts to him who is to be feared.
12 Ty han stäcker furstarnas övermod; fruktansvärd är han för konungarna på jorden.
He cuts off the spirit of the princes; he is feared by the kings of the earth.
