Psaltaren 58
1 För sångmästaren; "Fördärva icke"; av David; en sång. Talen I väl i eder stumhet vad rättfärdigt är? Dömen I såsom rätt är, I människors barn?
“To the chief musician Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham.” Do you indeed, who are dumb, speak righteously? do ye judge in uprightness, O ye sons of men?
2 Nej, i hjärtat uppgören I onda anslag; I vägen ut i landet edra händers våld.
Even in [your] heart ye work injustice: on the earth do ye weigh out the violence of your hands.
3 De ogudaktiga äro avfälliga allt ifrån modersskötet; de lögnaktiga fara vilse ända från sin moders liv.
The wicked are estranged [from goodness] from the womb: those who speak lies go astray from their very birth.
4 Gift är i dem, likt ormens gift; en döv huggorm likna de, en som tillstoppar sitt öra,
They have poison like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
5 så att han icke hör tjusarnas röst, icke den förfarne besvärjarens.
Which will not hearken to the voice of conjurers, yea, that of the wisest of all charmers.
6 Gud, krossa tänderna i deras mun; bryt ut, o HERRE, de unga lejonens kindtänder.
O God, break out their teeth in their mouth: the jaw-teeth of the young lions tear thou out, O Lord.
7 Låt dem bliva till intet, likasom vatten som förrinner. När någon skjuter sina pilar, blive de såsom utan udd.
Let them melt away as water [which] runneth off: when each one bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as if cut in pieces.
8 Må han vara lik snigeln, som upplöses och förgås, lik en kvinnas foster, som ej fick skåda solen.
As a snail which melteth, let him pass away; like the untimely birth of a woman which hath not seen the sun.
9 Förrän edra grytor hava hunnit märka bränslet, och medan köttet ännu är rått, skall en glödvind rycka bort det.
Before your pots can feel the thorns, will he take them away with a whirlwind, both the green and the burning.
10 Den rättfärdige skall glädja sig, när han skådar hämnden, han skall två sina fötter i den ogudaktiges blod.
The righteous will rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he will bathe his steps in the blood of the wicked.
11 Och människorna skola säga: "Ja, den rättfärdige får sin lön; ja, det finnes en Gud som dömer på jorden."
So that a man shall say, Verily fruit will come for the righteous: verily there is a God that judgeth on the earth.
