Psaltaren 49
1 För sångmästaren; av Koras söner; en psalm. Hören detta, alla folk, lyssnen härtill, I alla som leven i världen,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
2 både låga och höga, rika såväl som fattiga.
As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
3 Hin mun skall tala visdom, och mitt hjärtas tanke skall vara förstånd.
My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
4 Jag vill böja mitt öra till lärorikt tal, jag vill yppa vid harpan min förborgade kunskap.
I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
5 Varför skulle jag frukta i olyckans dagar, när mina förföljares ondska omgiver mig?
Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
6 De förlita sig på sina ägodelar och berömma sig av sin stora rikedom.
They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
7 Men sin broder kan ingen förlossa eller giva Gud lösepenning för honom.
Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
8 För dyr är lösen för hans själ och kan icke betalas till evig tid,
(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
9 så att han skulle få leva för alltid och undgå att se graven.
That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
10 Nej, man skall se att visa män dö, att dårar och oförnuftiga förgås likasom de; de måste lämna sina ägodelar åt andra.
For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
11 De tänka att deras hus skola bestå evinnerligen, deras boningar från släkte till släkte; de uppkalla jordagods efter sina namn.
Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
12 Men en människa har, mitt i sin härlighet, intet bestånd, hon är lik fänaden, som förgöres.
But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
13 Den vägen gå de, dårar som de äro, och de följas av andra som finna behag i deras tal. (Sela)
This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
14 Såsom en fårhjord drivas de ned till dödsriket, där döden bliver deras herde. Så få de redliga makt över dem, när morgonen gryr, medan deras skepnader förtäras av dödsriket och ej få annan boning. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)
15 Men min själ skall Gud förlossa ifrån dödsrikets våld, ty han skall upptaga mig. (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Frukta icke, när en man bliver rik, när hans hus växer till i härlighet.
Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 Ty av allt detta får han vid sin död intet med sig, och hans härlighet följer honom icke ditned.
For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
18 Om han ock prisar sig välsignad under sitt liv, ja, om man än berömmer dig, när du gör goda dagar,
For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
19 så skall dock vars och ens själ gå till hans fäders släkte, till dem som aldrig mer se ljuset.
He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
20 En människa som, mitt i sin härlighet, är utan förstånd, hon är lik fänaden, som förgöres.
Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
