Psaltaren 140

1 För sångmästaren; en psalm av David. Rädda mig, HERRE, från onda människor, bevara mig från våldets män,

To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Deliuer me, O Lord, from the euill man: preserue me from the cruel man:

2 för dem som uttänka ont i sina hjärtan och dagligen rota sig samman till strid.

Which imagine euill things in their heart, and make warre continually.

3 De vässa sina tungor likasom ormar, huggormsgift är inom deras läppar. (Sela)

They haue sharpened their tongues like a serpent: adders poyson is vnder their lips. (Selah)

4 Bevara mig, HERRE, för de ogudaktigas händer, beskydda mig för våldets män, som uttänka planer för att bringa mig på fall.

Keepe mee, O Lord, from the handes of the wicked: preserue mee from the cruell man, which purposeth to cause my steppes to slide.

5 Stolta människor lägga ut för mig snaror och garn; de breda ut nät invid vägens rand, giller sätta de för mig. (Sela)

The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. (Selah)

6 Jag säger till HERREN: "Du är min Gud." Lyssna, o HERRE, till mina böners ljud.

Therefore I saide vnto the Lord, Thou art my God: heare, O Lord, the voyce of my prayers.

7 HERRE, Herre, du min starka hjälp, du beskärmar mitt huvud, på stridens dag.

O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.

8 Tillstäd icke, HERRE; vad de ogudaktiga begära; låt deras anslag ej lyckas, de skulle eljest förhäva sig. (Sela)

Let not the wicked haue his desire, O Lord: performe not his wicked thought, least they be proude. (Selah)

9 Över de mäns huvuden, som omringa mig, må den olycka komma, som deras läppar bereda.

As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them.

10 Eldsglöd må regna över dem; må de kastas i eld, i djup som de ej komma upp ur.

Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.

11 En förtalets man skall ej bestå i landet; en ond våldsman skall jagas, med slag på slag.

For the backbiter shall not be established vpon the earth: euill shall hunt the cruell man to destruction.

12 Jag vet att HERREN skall utföra den betrycktes sak och skaffa de fattiga rätt.

I know that the Lord will auenge the afflicted, and iudge the poore.

13 Ja, de rättfärdiga skola prisa ditt namn och de redliga bo inför ditt ansikte.

Surely the righteous shall prayse thy Name, and the iust shall dwell in thy presence.
