1 Halleluja! Säll är den man som fruktar HERREN och har sin stora lust i hans bud.

Hallelujah. Happy is the man that feareth the Lord, that greatly delighteth in his commandments.

2 Hans efterkommande skola bliva väldiga på jorden; de redligas släkte skall varda välsignat.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

3 Gods och rikedom skall finnas i hans hus, och hans rättfärdighet består evinnerligen.

Plenty and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness shall endure for ever.

4 För de redliga går han upp såsom ett ljus i mörkret, nådig och barmhärtig och rättfärdig.

There ariseth in the darkness a light to the upright: he is gracious, and merciful, and righteous.

5 Väl den som är barmhärtig och giver lån, den som stöder all sin sak på rätt!

Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice.

6 Ty han skall icke vackla till evig tid; den rättfärdige skall vara i evig åminnelse.

Surely unto eternity shall he not be moved: in everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be held.

7 För ont budskap fruktar han icke; hans hjärta är frimodigt, det förtröstar på HERREN.

Of an evil report shall he not be afraid: his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.

8 Hans hjärta är fast, det fruktar icke, till dess han får se med lust på sina ovänner.

Well supported is his heart, he shall not be afraid, until he looketh on [the punishment of] his assailants.

9 Han utströr, han giver åt de fattiga, hans rättfärdighet förbliver evinnerligen; hans horn skall varda upphöjt med ära.

He distributeth, he giveth to the needy: his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted in honor.

10 Den ogudaktige skall se det och harmas; han skall bita sina tänder samman och täras bort. Vad de ogudaktiga önska bliver till intet.

The wicked shall see it, and be vexed; he will gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the longing of the wicked shall perish.
