1 Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:
And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
2 "Kräv ut hämnd för Israels barn midjaniterna; sedan skall du samlas till dina fäder.
'Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites — afterwards thou art gathered unto thy people.'
3 Då talade Mose till folket och sade: "Låten en del av edra män väpna sig till strid; dessa skola tåga mot Midjan och utföra HERRENS hämnd på Midjan.
And Moses speaketh unto the people, saying, 'Be ye armed some of you for the host, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of Jehovah on Midian;
4 Tusen man ur var och en särskild av Israels alla stammar skolen I sända ut i striden."
a thousand for a tribe — a thousand for a tribe, to all the tribes of Israel — ye do send to the host.'
5 Så avlämnades då ur Israels ätter tusen man av var stam: tolv tusen man, väpnade till strid.
And there are given out of the thousands of Israel a thousand for a tribe, twelve thousand armed ones of the host;
6 Och Mose sände dessa, tusen man av var stam, ut i striden; han sände med dem Pinehas, prästen Eleasars son, ut i striden, och denne tog med sig de heliga redskapen och larmtrumpeterna.
and Moses sendeth them, a thousand for a tribe, to the host, them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, to the host; and the holy vessels, and the trumpets of the shouting, in his hand.
7 Och de gingo till strids emot Midjan, såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose, och dräpte allt mankön.
And they war against Midian, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses, and slay every male;
8 Och jämte andra som då blevo slagna av dem dräptes ock de midjanitiska konungarna Evi, Rekem, Sur, Hur och Reba, fem midjanitiska konungar; Bileam, Beors son, dräpte de ock med svärd.
and the kings of Midian they have slain, besides their pierced ones, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor, they have slain with the sword.
9 Och Israels barn förde Midjans kvinnor och barn bort såsom fångar; och alla deras dragare och all deras boskap och allt deras övriga gods togo de såsom byte.
And the sons of Israel take captive the women of Midian, and their infants; and all their cattle, and all their substance, and all their wealth they have plundered;
10 Och alla deras städer, i de trakter där de bodde, och alla deras tältläger brände de upp i eld.
and all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, they have burnt with fire.
11 Och de togo med sig allt bytet, och allt vad de hade rövat, både människor och boskap.
And they take all the spoil, and all the prey, among man and among beast;
12 Och de förde fångarna och det rövade och bytet fram till Mose och prästen Eleasar och Israels barns menighet i lägret på Moabs hedar, som ligga vid Jordan mitt emot Jeriko.
and they bring in, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the company of the sons of Israel, the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which [are] by Jordan, [near] Jericho.
13 Och Mose och prästen Eleasar och alla menighetens hövdingar gingo dem till mötes utanför lägret.
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the company, go out to meet them, unto the outside of the camp,
14 Men Mose förtörnades på krigsbefälet, över- och underhövitsmännen, när de kommo tillbaka från sitt krigståg.
and Moses is wroth against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the host of the battle.
15 Mose sade till dem: "Haven I då låtit alla kvinnorna leva?
And Moses saith unto them, 'Have ye kept alive every female?
16 Det var ju de som, på Bileams inrådan, förledde Israels barn till att begå otrohet mot HERREN i saken med Peor, och som därigenom vållade att en hemsökelse kom över HERRENS menighet.
lo, they — they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah.
17 Så dräpen nu alla gossebarn, och dräpen alla kvinnor som hava haft med män, med mankön, att skaffa.
'And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain;
18 Men alla flickebarn som icke hava haft med mankön att skaffa, dem mån I låta leva för eder räkning.
and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves.
19 Själva skolen I nu lägra eder utanför lägret, i sju dagar. Var och en av eder som har dräpt någon människa, och var och en som har kommit vid någon slagen skall rena sig på tredje dagen och på sjunde dagen -- såväl I själva som edra fångar.
'And ye, encamp ye at the outside of the camp seven days — any who hath slain a person, and any who hath come against a pierced one, ye cleanse yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day — ye and your captives;
20 Alla kläder och allt som är förfärdigat av skinn och allt som är gjort av gethår och alla redskap av trä skolen I ock rena åt eder."
and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats' [hair], and every wooden vessel, ye yourselves cleanse.'
21 Och prästen Eleasar sade till stridsmännen som hade deltagit i kriget: Detta är den lagstadga som HERREN har givit Mose:
And Eleazar the priest saith unto the men of the host who go in to battle, 'This [is] the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:
22 Guld och silver, koppar, järn, tenn och bly,
only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 allt sådant som tål eld, skolen I låta gå genom eld, så bliver det rent; dock bör det tillika renas med stänkelsevatten. Men allt som icke tål eld skolen I låta gå genom vatten.
every thing which may go into fire, ye cause to pass over through fire, and it hath been clean; only, with the water of separation it is cleansed, and all that may not go into fire, ye cause to pass over through water;
24 Och I skolen två edra kläder på sjunde dagen, så bliven I rena; därefter fån I gå in i lägret.
and ye have washed your garments on the seventh day, and have been clean, and afterwards ye come in unto the camp.'
25 Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:
And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
26 Över det tagna rovet, både människor och boskap, skall du göra en beräkning, du tillsammans med prästen Eleasar och huvudmännen för menighetens familjer;
'Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company;
27 sedan skall du dela rovet i två delar, mellan de krigare som hava varit med i striden och hela den övriga menigheten.
and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company;
28 Och du skall låta det krigsfolk som har varit med i striden giva var femhundrade av människor, fäkreatur, åsnor och får såsom skatt åt HERREN.
and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock;
29 Så mycket skall tagas av den hälft som tillfaller dem, och du skall giva detta åt prästen Eleasar såsom en gärd åt HERREN.
from their half ye do take, and thou hast given to Eleazar the priest — the heave-offering of Jehovah.
30 Men ur den hälft som tillfaller de övriga israeliterna skall du uttaga var femtionde av människor, sammalunda av fäkreatur, åsnor och får, korteligen, av all boskap, och detta skall du giva åt leviterna, som det åligger att iakttaga vad som är att iakttaga vid HERRENS tabernakel.
'And from the sons of Israel's half thou dost take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the asses, and of the flock, of all the cattle, and thou hast given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.'
31 Och Mose och prästen Eleasar gjorde såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
And Moses doth — Eleazar the priest also — as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
32 Och rovet, nämligen återstoden av det byte som krigsfolket hade tagit utgjorde: av får sex hundra sjuttiofem tusen,
And the prey, the residue of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is of the flock six hundred thousand, and seventy thousand, and five thousand;
33 av fäkreatur sjuttiotvå tusen,
and of the herd two and seventy thousand;
34 av åsnor sextioett tusen,
and of asses one and sixty thousand;
35 och av människor, sådana kvinnor som icke hade haft med mankön att skaffa, tillsammans trettiotvå tusen personer.
and of human beings — of the women who have not known the lying of a male — all the persons [are] two and thirty thousand.
36 Och hälften därav, eller den del om tillföll dem som hade varit med striden, utgjorde: av får ett antal av tre hundra trettiosju tusen fem hundra,
And the half — the portion of those who go out into the host — the number of the flock is three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, and seven thousand and five hundred.
37 varav skatten åt HERREN utgjorde sex hundra sjuttiofem får;
And the tribute to Jehovah of the sheep is six hundred five and seventy;
38 av fäkreatur trettiosex tusen, varav skatten åt HERREN sjuttiotvå;
and the herd [is] six and thirty thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and seventy;
39 av åsnor trettio tusen fem hundra, varav skatten åt HERREN sextioen;
and the asses [are] thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] one and sixty;
40 av människor sexton tusen, varav skatten åt HERREN trettiotvå personer.
and the human beings [are] sixteen thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and thirty persons.
41 Och skatten, den för HERREN bestämda gärden, gav Mose åt prästen Eleasar, såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
And Moses giveth the tribute — Jehovah's heave-offering — to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
42 Och den hälft, som tillföll de övriga israeliterna, och som Mose hade avskilt från krigsfolkets,
And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses halved from the men who war —
43 denna hälft, den som tillföll menigheten, utgjorde: av får tre hundra trettiosju tusen fem hundra,
and the company's half is, of the flock three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred;
44 av fäkreatur trettiosex tusen,
and of the herd six and thirty thousand;
45 av åsnor trettio tusen fem hundra
and of asses thirty thousand and five hundred;
46 och av människor sexton tusen.
and of human beings sixteen thousand —
47 Och ur denna hälft, som tillföll de övriga israeliterna, uttog Mose var femtionde, både av människor och av boskap, och gav detta åt leviterna, som det ålåg att iakttaga vad som var att iakttaga vid HERRENS tabernakel, allt såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
Moses taketh from the sons of Israel's half the one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and giveth them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
48 Och befälhavarna över härens avdelningar, över- och underhövitsmännen, trädde fram till Mose.
And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host hath, (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near unto Moses,
49 Och de sade till Mose: "Dina tjänare hava räknat antalet av de krigsmän som vi hava haft under vårt befäl, och icke en enda fattas bland oss.
and they say unto Moses, 'Thy servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who [are] with us, and not a man of us hath been missed;
50 Därför hava vi nu såsom en offergåva åt HERREN burit fram var och en del som han har kommit över av gyllene klenoder, armband av olika slag, ringar, örhängen och halssmycken, detta för att bringa försoning för oss inför HERRENS ansikte."
and we bring near Jehovah's offering, each that which he hath found, vessels of gold — chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, [ear] -ring, and bead — to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.'
51 Och Mose och prästen Eleasar togo emot guldet av dem, alla slags klenoder.
And Moses receiveth — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from them, every made vessel,
52 Och guldet som gavs såsom gärd åt HERREN av över- och underhövitsmännen utgjorde sammanlagt sexton tusen sju hundra femtio siklar.
and all the gold of the heave-offering which they have lifted up to Jehovah is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands, and from heads of the hundreds;
53 Manskapet hade tagit byte var och en för sig.
(the men of the host have spoiled each for himself);
54 Och Mose och prästen Eleasar togo emot guldet av över- och underhövitsmännen och buro in det i uppenbarelsetältet, för att det skulle bringa Israels barn i åminnelse inför HERRENS ansikte.
and Moses taketh — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it in unto the tent of meeting — a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.
