3 Mosebok 21

1 Och HERREN sade till Mose: Säg till prästerna, Arons söner, säg till dem så: En präst får icke ådraga sig orenhet genom någon död bland sina fränder,

And Yahweh said unto Moses, Say unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, —yea thou shalt say unto them, For a dead person, shall no one make himself unclean among his people:

2 utom genom sina närmaste blodsförvanter: sin moder, sin fader, sin dotter, sin broder; son, sin dotter, sin broder;

Saving for his kin, that are near unto him, for his mother or for his father, or for his son or for his daughter, or for his brother;

3 så ock genom sin syster, om hon var jungfru och stod honom närmare och icke tillhörde någon man, i sådant fall må han ådraga sig orenhet genom henne.

or for his sister, a virgin who is near unto him, who belongeth not unto a husband, —for her, he may make himself unclean:

4 Eftersom han är en herre bland sina fränder, får han icke ådraga sig orenhet och göra sig ohelig.

He shall not make himself unclean being a chief among his people, —by profaning himself:

5 Prästerna skola icke raka någon del av sitt huvud skallig eller avraka kanten av sitt skägg eller rista något märke på sin kropp.

They shall not make a baldness behind in their head, And the border of their beard, shall they not cut off, —And, in their flesh, shall they not make incisions.

6 De skola vara helgade åt sin Guds och må icke ohelga sin Guds namn, ty de bära fram HERRENS eldsoffer sin Guds spis; därför skola de heliga.

Holy persons, shall they be unto their God, and not profane the name of their God, —for, the altar-flames of Yahweh, the food of their God, do they bring near—Therefore shall they be holy.

7 Ingen av dem skall taga till hustru en sköka eller en vanärad kvinna, ej heller skall någon taga till hustru en kvinna som har blivit förskjuten av sin man, ty prästen är helgad åt sin Gud.

A woman that is unchaste or dishonoured, shall they not take, And a woman divorced from her husband, shall they not take, —For holy, he is unto his God.

8 Därför skall du akta honom helig, ty han bär fram din Guds spis; han skall vara dig helig, ty jag, HERREN, som helgar eder, är helig.

Therefore shalt thou hold him as holy, for the food of thy God, doth he bring near, —Holy, shall he be to thee, For, holy, am I—Yahweh, who am making you holy.

9 Om en prästs dotter ohelgar sig genom skökolevnad, så ohelgar hon sin fader; hon skall brännas upp i eld.

And, the daughter of any priest, when she profaneth herself by unchastity, Her father, she, doth profane, with fire, shall she be consumed.

10 Den som är överstepräst bland sina bröder, den på vilkens huvud smörjelseoljan har blivit utgjuten, och som har mottagit handfyllning till att ikläda sig prästkläderna, han skall icke hava sitt hår oordnat, ej heller riva sönder sina kläder;

And, as for the high priest from among his brethren upon whose head is poured the anointing oil, and who is installed, by putting on the garments, His head, shall he not bare, And, his garments, shall he not rend;

11 och han skall icke gå in till någon död; icke ens genom sin fader eller genom sin moder får han ådraga sig orenhet.

And, unto no persons of the dead, shall he go in, —For his father or for his mother, shall he not make himself unclean;

12 Och ur helgedomen skall han icke gå ut, på det att han icke må ohelga sin Guds helgedom, ty hans Guds smörjelseolja, varmed han har blivit invigd, är på honom. Jag är HERREN.

And, out of the sanctuary, shall he not go forth, so shall he not profane the sanctuary of his God, —for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him—I, am Yahweh.

13 Till hustru skall han taga en kvinna som är jungfru.

But, he, shall take a woman in her virginity:

14 En änka eller en förskjuten hustru eller en vanärad kvinna, en sköka -- en sådan får han icke taga, utan en jungfru bland sina fränder skall han taga till hustru,

A widow or a divorced woman or one dishonoured—an unchaste woman, these, shall he not take, But, a virgin from among his own kinsfolk, shall he take to wife;

15 för att han icke må ohelga sin livsfrukt bland sina fränder; ty jag är HERREN, som helgar honom.

So shall he not profane his seed, among his kinsfolk, —For I—Yahweh, do hallow him.

16 Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:

And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:

17 Tala till Aron och säg: Av dina avkomlingar i kommande släkten skall ingen som har något lyte träda fram för att frambära sin Guds spis.

Speak unto Aaron, saying, —No man of thy seed, unto their generations in whom shall be any blemish, shall come near, to present the food of his God.

18 Ingen skall träda fram, som har något lyte, varken en blind eller en halt, eller en som har lyte i ansiktet, eller som har någon lem för stor,

Surely, no man in whom is any blemish, shall come near, —No man who is blind or lame, or hath a flat nose, or is lanky;

19 ingen som har brutit arm eller ben,

nor any man who hath a broken foot, —or a broken hand;

20 ingen som är puckelryggig eller förkrympt, eller som har fel på ögat, eller som har skabb eller annat utslag, eller som är snöpt.

or is hump-backed or a dwarf, or hath defective vision, —or hath scurvy or scab, or is crushed in the stones:

21 Av prästen Arons avkomlingar skall ingen som har något lyte gå fram för att frambära HERRENS eldsoffer; han har ett lyte, han skall icke gå fram för att frambära sin Guds spis.

No, man in whom is a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest, shall approach, to bring near the altar-flames of Yahweh, —a blemish, is in him, the food of his God, shall he not approach to bring near:

22 Sin Guds spis må han äta, både det som är högheligt och det som är heligt,

Of the food of his God, both of the most holy, —and the holy, may he eat:

23 men eftersom han har ett lyte, skall han icke gå in till förlåten, ej heller skall han gå fram till altaret, på det att han icke må ohelga mina heliga ting; ty jag är HERREN, som helgar dem.

Only, unto the veil, shall he not come in and unto the altar, shall he not approach—because, a blemish, is in him, so shall he not profane my sanctuaries, For, I—Yahweh, am hallowing them.

24 Och Mose talade detta till Aron och hans söner och alla Israels barn.

And Moses spake [these things] unto Aaron, and unto his sons, —and unto all the sons of Israel.
