Jesaja 9
1 Dock, natt skall icke förbliva där nu ångest råder. I den förgångna tiden har har han låtit Sebulons och Naftalis land vara ringa aktat, men i framtiden skall han låta det komma till ära, trakten utmed Havsvägen, landet på andra sidan Jordan, hedningarnas område.
Yet the darkenesse shall not be according to the affliction that it had when at the first hee touched lightly the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, nor afteward when he was more grieuous by the way of the sea beyond Iorden in Galile of the Gentiles.
2 Det folk som vandrar i mörkret skall se ett stort ljus; ja, över dem som bo i dödsskuggans land skall ett ljus skina klart.
The people that walked in darkenes haue seene a great light: they that dwelled in the land of the shadowe of death, vpon them hath the light shined.
3 Du skall göra folket talrikt, du skall göra dess glädje stor; inför dig skola de glädja sig, såsom man glädes under skördetiden, såsom man fröjdar sig, när man utskiftar byte.
Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased their ioye: they haue reioyced before thee according to the ioye in haruest, and as men reioyce when they deuide a spoyle.
4 Ty du skall bryta sönder deras bördors ok och deras skuldrors gissel och deras plågares stav, likasom i Midjans tid.
For the yoke of their burthen, and the staffe of their shoulder and the rod of their oppressour hast thou broken as in the day of Midian.
5 Och skon som krigaren bar i stridslarmet, och manteln som sölades i blod, allt sådant skall brännas upp och förtäras av eld.
Surely euery battell of the warriour is with noyse, and with tumbling of garments in blood: but this shall be with burning and deuouring of fire.
6 Ty ett barn varder oss fött, en son bliver oss given, och på hans skuldror skall herradömet vila; och hans namn skall vara: Underbar i råd, Väldig Gud, Evig fader, Fridsfurste.
For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace,
7 Så skall herradömet varda stort och friden utan ände över Davids tron och över hans rike; så skall det befästas och stödjas med rätt och rättfärdighet, från nu och till evig tid. HERREN Sebaots nitälskan skall göra detta.
The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.
8 Ett ord sänder Herren mot Jakob, och det slår ned i Israel,
The Lord hath sent a worde into Iaakob, and it hath lighted vpon Israel.
9 och allt folket får förnimma det, Efraim och Samarias invånare, de som säga i sitt övermod och i sitt hjärtas stolthet:
And all the people shall knowe, euen Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and presumption of the heart,
10 "Tegelmurar hava fallit, men med huggen sten bygga vi upp nya; mullbärsfikonträd har man huggit ned, men cederträd sätta vi i deras ställe."
The brickes are fallen, but we will build it with hewen stones: the wilde figge trees are cut downe, but we will change them into ceders.
11 Och HERREN uppreser mot dem Resins ovänner och uppeggar deras fiender,
Neuerthelesse the Lord will raise vp the aduersaries of Rezin against him, and ioyne his enemies together.
12 araméerna från den ena sidan och filistéerna från den andra, och de äta upp Israel med glupska gap. Vid allt detta vänder hans vrede icke åter, hans hand är ännu uträckt.
Aram before and the Philistims behinde, and they shall deuoure Israel with open mouth: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 Men folket vänder ej åter till honom som slår dem; Herren Sebaot söka de icke.
For the people turneth not vnto him that smiteth them, neither doe they seeke the Lord of hostes.
14 Därför avhugger HERREN på Israel både huvud och svans, han hugger av både palmtopp och sävstrå, allt på en dag --
Therefore will the Lord cut off from Israel head and taile, branche and rush in one day.
15 de äldste och högst uppsatte de äro huvudet, och profeterna, de falska vägvisarna, de äro svansen.
The ancient and the honorable man, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the taile.
16 Ty detta folks ledare föra det vilse, och de som låta leda sig gå i fördärvet.
For the leaders of the people cause them to erre: and they that are led by them are deuoured.
17 Därför kan Herren icke glädja sig över dess unga män, ej heller hava förbarmande med dess faderlösa och änkor; ty de äro allasammans gudlösa ogärningsmän, och var mun talar dårskap. Vid allt detta vänder hans vrede icke åter, hans hand är ännu uträckt.
Therefore shall the Lord haue no pleasure in their yong men, neither will he haue compassion of their fatherlesse and of their widowes: for euery one is an hypocrite and wicked, and euery mouth speaketh follie: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out stil.
18 Ty ogudaktigheten förbränner såsom en eld, den förtär tistel och törne; den tänder på den tjocka skogen, så att den går upp i höga virvlar av rök.
For wickednesse burneth as a fire: it deuoureth the briers and the thornes and will kindle in the thicke places of the forest: and they shall mount vp like the lifting vp of smoke.
19 Genom HERREN Sebaots förgrymmelse har landet råkat i brand, och folket är likasom eldsmat; den ene skonar icke den andre.
By the wrath of the Lord of hostes shall the land be darkened, and the people shall be as the meate of ye fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 Man river åt sig till höger och förbliver dock hungrig, man tager för sig till vänster och bliver dock ej mätt; envar äter köttet på sin egen arm:
And he shall snatch at the right hand, and be hungrie: and he shall eate on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied: euery one shall eate ye flesh of his owne arme.
21 Manasse äter Efraim, och Efraim Manasse, och båda tillhopa vända sig mot Juda. Vid allt detta vänder hans vrede icke åter, hans hand är ännu uträckt.
Manasseh, Ephraim: and Ephraim Manasseh, and they both shall be against Iudah yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
