Jesaja 10

1 Ve eder som stadgen orättfärdiga stadgar! I skriven, men våldslagar skriven I

Woe vnto them that decree wicked decrees, and write grieuous things,

2 för att vränga de ringas sak och beröva de fattiga i mitt folk deras rätt, för att göra änkor till edert byte och plundra de faderlösa.

To keepe backe ye poore from iudgement, and to take away the iudgement of the poore of my people, that widowes may be their pray, and that they may spoyle the fatherlesse.

3 Vad viljen I göra på hemsökelsens dag, när ovädret kommer fjärran ifrån? Till vem viljen I fly för att få hjälp, och var viljen I lämna edra skatter i förvar?

What will ye doe nowe in the day of visitation, and of destruction, which shall come from farre? to whom will ye flee for helpe? and where will ye leaue your glorie?

4 Om man ej böjer knä såsom fånge, så måste man falla bland de dräpta. Vid allt detta vänder hans vrede icke åter, hans hand är ännu uträckt.

Without me euery one shall fall among them that are bound, and they shall fall downe among the slayne: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

5 Ve över Assur, min vredes ris, som bär min ogunst såsom en stav i sin hand!

O Asshur, the rodde of my wrath: and the staffe in their hands is mine indignation.

6 Mot ett gudlöst folk sänder jag honom, och mot min förgrymmelses folk bjuder jag honom gå, för att taga rov och göra byte, och för att nedtrampa det såsom orenlighet på gatorna.

I will sende him to a dissembling nation, and I will giue him a charge against the people of my wrath to take the spoyle and to take the pray, and to treade them vnder feete like the mire in the streete.

7 Men så menar icke han, och i sitt hjärta tänker han ej så, utan hans hjärta står efter att förgöra och efter att utrota folk i mängd.

But he thinketh not so, neither doeth his heart esteeme it so: but he imagineth to destroy and to cut off not a fewe nations.

8 Han säger: "Äro mina hövdingar ej allasammans konungar?

For he sayeth, Are not my princes altogether Kings?

9 Har det icke gått Kalno såsom Karkemis, och Hamat såsom Arpad, och Samaria såsom Damaskus?

Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?

10 Då min hand har träffat de andra gudarnas riken, vilkas beläten voro förmer än Jerusalems och Samarias,

Like as mine hand hath founde the kingdomes of the idoles, seeing their idoles were aboue Ierusalem, and aboue Samaria:

11 skulle jag då ej kunna göra med Jerusalem och dess gudabilder vad jag har gjort med Samaria och dess gudar?"

Shall not I, as I haue done to Samaria, and to the idoles thereof, so doe to Ierusalem and to the idoles thereof?

12 Men när Herren har fullbordat allt sitt verk på Sions berg och i Jerusalem, då skall jag hemsöka den assyriske konungens hjärtas högmodsfrukt och hans stolta ögons förhävelse.

But when the Lord hath accomplished all his worke vpon mount Zion and Ierusalem, I will visite the fruite of the proude heart of the King of Asshur, and his glorious and proud lookes,

13 Ty han säger: "Med min hands kraft har jag utfört detta och genom min vishet, ty jag har förstånd. Jag flyttade folkens gränser, deras förråd utplundrade jag, och i min väldighet stötte jag härskarna från tronen.

Because he said, By ye power of mine owne hand haue I done it, and by my wisdome, because I am wise: therefore I haue remooued the borders of the people, and haue spoyled their treasures, and haue pulled downe the inhabitants like a valiant man.

14 Och min hand grep efter folkens skatter såsom efter fågelnästen, och såsom man samlar övergivna ägg, så samlade jag jordens alla länder; ingen fanns, som rörde vingen eller öppnade näbben till något ljud."

And mine hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people, and as one gathereth egges that are left, so haue I gathered all the earth: and there was none to mooue the wing or to open the mouth, or to whisper.

15 Skall då yxan berömma sig mot honom som hugger med den, eller sågen förhäva sig mot honom som sätter den i rörelse? Som om käppen satte i rörelse honom som lyfter den, eller staven lyfte en som dock är förmer än ett stycke trä!

Shall the axe boast it selfe against him that heweth therewith? or shall the sawe exalt it selfe against him that moueth it? as if the rod shoulde lift vp it selfe against him that taketh it vp, or the staffe should exalt it selfe, as it were no wood.

16 Så skall då Herren, HERREN Sebaot sända tärande sjukdom i hans feta kropp, och under hans härlighet skall brinna en brand likasom en brinnande eld.

Therefore shall the Lord God of hostes send amog his fat men, leannes, and vnder his glorie he shall kindle a burning, like the burning of fire.

17 Och Israels ljus skall bliva en eld och hans Helige en låga, och den skall bränna upp och förtära dess törnen och dess tistlar, allt på en dag.

And the light of Israel shalbe as a fire, and the Holy one thereof as a flame, and it shall burne, and deuoure his thornes and his briers in one day:

18 Och på hans skogars och parkers härlighet skall han alldeles göra en ände; det skall vara, såsom när en sjuk täres bort.

And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitfull fieldes both soule and flesh: and he shalbe as ye fainting of a standard bearer.

19 De träd som bliva kvar i hans skog skola vara lätt räknade; ett barn skall kunna teckna upp dem.

And the rest of the trees of his forest shalbe fewe, that a childe may tell them.

20 På den tiden skall kvarlevan av Israel och den räddade skaran av Jakobs hus ej vidare stödja sig vid honom som slog dem; i trohet skola de stödja sig vid HERREN, Israels Helige.

And at that day shall the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Iaakob, stay no more vpon him that smote them, but shall stay vpon ye Lord, ye Holy one of Israel in trueth.

21 En kvarleva skall omvända sig, en kvarleva av Jakob, till Gud, den väldige.

The remnant shall returne, euen the remnant of Iaakob vnto the mightie God.

22 Ty om än ditt folk, Israel, vore såsom sanden i havet, så skall dock allenast en kvarleva där omvända sig. Förödelsen är oryggligt besluten, den kommer med rättfärdighet såsom en flod.

For though thy people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, yet shall the remnant of them returne. The consumption decreed shall ouerflow with righteousnesse.

23 Ty förstöring och oryggligt besluten straffdom skall Herren, HERREN Sebaot låta komma över hela jorden.

For the Lord God of hostes shall make the consumption, euen determined, in the middes of all the land.

24 Därför säger Herren, HERREN Sebaot så: Frukta icke, mitt folk, du som bor i Sion, för Assur, när han slår dig med riset och upplyfter sin stav mot dig, såsom man gjorde i Egypten.

Therefore thus saith ye Lord God of hostes, O my people, that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of Asshur: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift vp his staffe against thee after the maner of Egypt:

25 Ty ännu allenast en liten tid, och ogunsten skall hava en ände, och min vrede skall vända sig till deras fördärv.

But yet a very litle time, and the wrath shall be consumed, and mine anger in their destruction.

26 Och HERREN Sebaot skall svänga sitt gissel över dem, såsom när han slog Midjan vid Orebsklippan; och sin stav, som han räckte ut över havet, skall han åter upplyfta, såsom han gjorde i Egypten.

And ye Lord of hostes shall raise vp a scourge for him, according to the plague of Midian in the rocke Oreb: and as his staffe was vpon the Sea, so he will lift it vp after the maner of Egypt.

27 På den tiden skall hans börda tagas bort ifrån din skuldra och hans ok ifrån din hals, ty oket skall brista sönder för fetmas skull.

And at that day shall his burden be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy necke: and the yoke shalbe destroied because of the anoynting.

28 Han kommer över Ajat, han drager fram genom Migron; i Mikmas lämnar han sin tross.

He is come to Aiath: he is passed into Migron: at Michmash shall he lay vp his armour.

29 De draga fram över passet; i Geba taga de nattkvarter. Rama bävar; Sauls Gibea flyr.

They haue gone ouer the foorde: they lodged in the lodging at Geba: Ramah is afraide: Gibeah of Saul is fled away.

30 Ropa högt, du dotter Gallim. Giv akt, du Laisa. Arma Anatot!

Lift vp thy voyce, O daughter Gallim, cause Laish to heare, O poore Anathoth.

31 Madmena flyktar; Gebims invånare bärga sitt gods.

Madmenah is remoued: the inhabitants of Gebim haue gathered themselues together.

32 Ännu samma dag står han i Nob; han lyfter sin hand mot dottern Sions berg, mot Jerusalems höjd.

Yet there is a time that he will stay at Nob: he shall lift vp his hand towarde the mount of the daughter Zion, the hill of Ierusalem.

33 Men se, då avhugger Herren, HERREN Sebaot den lummiga kronan, med förskräckande makt; de resliga stammarna ligga fällda, de höga träden störta ned.

Beholde, the Lord God of hostes shall cut off the bough with feare, and they of high stature shalbe cut off, and the hie shalbe humbled.

34 Den tjocka skogen nedhugges med järnet; Libanons skogar falla för den väldige.

And he shall cut away the thicke places of the forest with yron, and Lebanon shall haue a mightie fall.
