1 Mosebok 36
1 Detta är berättelsen om Esaus, det är Edoms, släkt.
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
2 Esau hade tagit sina hustrur bland Kanaans döttrar: Ada, hetiten Elons dotter, och Oholibama, dotter till Ana och sondotter till hivéen Sibeon,
Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;
3 så ock Basemat, Ismaels dotter, Nebajots syster.
and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Och Ada födde Elifas åt Esau, men Basemat födde Reguel.
Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
5 Och Oholibama födde Jeus, Jaelam och Kora. Dessa voro Esaus söner, vilka föddes åt honom i Kanaans land.
Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.
6 Och Esau tog sina hustrur, sina söner och döttrar och allt sitt husfolk, sin boskap och alla sina dragare och all annan egendom som han hade förvärvat i Kanaans land och drog till ett annat land och skilde sig så från sin broder Jakob.
Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.
7 Ty deras ägodelar voro så stora att de icke kunde bo tillsammans; landet där de uppehöllo sig räckte icke till åt dem, för deras boskapshjordars skull.
8 Och Esau bosatte sig i Seirs bergsbygd. Esau, det är densamme som Edom.
They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
9 Och detta är berättelsen om Esaus släkt, hans som var stamfader för edoméerna, i Seirs bergsbygd.
(Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
10 Dessa äro namnen på Esaus söner: Elifas, son till Ada, Esaus hustru, och Reguel, son till Basemat, Esaus hustru.
Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
11 Men Elifas' söner voro Teman, Omar, Sefo, Gaetam och Kenas.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 Och Timna, som var Elifas', Esaus sons, bihustru, födde Amalek åt Elifas. Dessa voro söner till Ada, Esaus hustru.
Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13 Men Reguels söner voro dessa: Nahat och Sera, Samma och Missa. Dessa voro söner till Basemat, Esaus hustru.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14 Men söner till Oholibama, Esaus hustru, dotter till Ana och sondotter till Sibeon, voro dessa, som hon födde åt Esau: Jeus, Jaelam och Kora.
Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
15 Dessa voro stamfurstarna bland Esaus söner: Elifas', Esaus förstföddes, söner voro dessa: fursten Teman, fursten Omar, fursten Sefo, fursten Kenas,
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
16 fursten Kora, fursten Gaetam, fursten Amalek. Dessa voro de furstar som härstammade från Elifas, i Edoms land; dessa voro Adas söner.
the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
17 Och dessa voro Reguels, Esaus sons, söner: fursten Nahat, fursten Sera, fursten Samma, fursten Missa. Dessa voro de furstar som härstammade från Reguel, i Edoms land; dessa voro söner till Basemat, Esaus hustru.
The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
18 Och dessa voro Oholibamas, Esaus hustrus, söner: fursten Jeus, fursten Jaelam, fursten Kora. Dessa voro de furstar som härstammade från Oholibama, Anas dotter och Esaus hustru.
The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
19 Dessa voro Esaus söner, och dessa deras stamfurstar. Han är densamme som Edom.
That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
20 Dessa voro horéen Seirs söner, landets förra inbyggare: Lotan, Sobal, Sibeon, Ana,
(This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Dison, Eser och Disan. Dessa voro horéernas, Seirs söners, stamfurstar i Edoms land.
Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
22 Men Lotans söner voro Hori och Hemam; och Lotans syster var Timna.
The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
23 Och dessa voro Sobals söner: Alvan, Manahat och Ebal, Sefo och Onam.
The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 Och dessa voro Sibeons söner: Aja och Ana; det var denne Ana som fann de varma källorna i öknen, när han vaktade sin fader Sibeons åsnor.
The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
25 Men dessa voro Anas barn: Dison och Oholibama, Anas dotter.
Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
26 Och dessa voro Disans söner: Hemdan, Esban, Jitran och Keran.
Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
27 Och dessa voro Esers söner: Bilhan, Saavan och Akan.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28 Dessa voro Disans söner: Us och Aran.
Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
29 Dessa voro horéernas stamfurstar: fursten Lotan, fursten Sobal, fursten Sibeon, fursten Ana,
The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
30 fursten Dison, fursten Eser, fursten Disan. Dessa voro horéernas stamfurstar i Seirs land, var furste för sig.
31 Och dessa voro de konungar som regerade i Edoms land, innan ännu någon israelitisk konung var konung där:
These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
32 Bela, Beors son, var konung i Edom, och hans stad hette Dinhaba.
Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
33 När Bela dog, blev Jobab, Seras son, från Bosra, konung efter honom.
When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
34 När Jobab dog, blev Husam från temanéernas land konung efter honom.
When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
35 När Husam dog, blev Hadad, Bedads son, konung efter honom, han som slog midjaniterna på Moabs mark; och hans stad hette Avit.
When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.
36 När Hadad dog, blev Samla från Masreka konung efter honom.
When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
37 När Samla dog, blev Saul från Rehobot vid floden konung efter honom.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
38 När Saul dog, blev Baal-Hanan, Akbors son, konung efter honom.
When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
39 När Baal-Hanan, Akbors son, dog, blev Hadar konung efter honom; och hans stad hette Pagu, och hans hustru hette Mehetabel, dotter till Matred, som var dotter till Me-Sahab.
When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40 Och dessa äro namnen på Esaus stamfurstar, efter deras släkter och orter, med deras namn: fursten Timna, fursten Alva, fursten Jetet,
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
41 fursten Oholibama, fursten Ela, fursten Pinon,
42 fursten Kenas, fursten Teman, fursten Mibsar,
43 fursten Magdiel, fursten Iram. Dessa voro Edoms stamfurstar, efter deras boningsorter i det land de hade tagit i besittning -- hans som ock kallas Esau, edoméernas stamfader.
