Amos 7

1 Följande syn lät Herren, HERREN mig se; Jag såg gräshoppor skapas, när sommargräset begynte växa upp; och det var sommargräset efter kungsslåttern.

The Lord Jehovah showed me this vision: Behold, he formed locusts In the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; Behold, it was the latter growth after the king's mowing.

2 När så dessa hade ätit upp alla markens örter, sade jag: "Herre, HERRE, förlåt. Huru skall Jakob kunna bestå, han som är så ringa?"

And when they had devoured the grass of the land, Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee! How shall Jacob stand? For he is small!

3 Då ångrade HERREN detta. "Det skall icke ske", sade HERREN.

Jehovah repented of this; It shall not be, said Jehovah.

4 Följande syn lät Herren, HERREN mig se: Jag såg Herren, HERREN nalkas för att utföra sin sak genom eld; och elden förtärde det stora djupet och höll på att förtära arvedelslandet.

The Lord Jehovah also showed me this vision: Behold, the Lord Jehovah commanded the fire to execute judgment; And it devoured the great deep, And it devoured the fields.

5 Då sade jag: "Herre, HERRE, håll upp. Huru skall Jakob kunna bestå, han som är så ringa?"

Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, desist, I beseech thee! How shall Jacob stand? For he is small!

6 Då ångrade HERREN detta. "Icke heller detta skall ske", sade Herren, HERREN.

Jehovah repented of this; This also shall not be, said the Lord Jehovah.

7 Följande syn lät han mig se: Jag såg Herren stå på en mur, uppförd efter sänklod, och i sin hand höll han ett sänklod.

He also showed me this vision: Behold, the Lord stood upon a wall, built with a plumb-line, And in his hand was a plumb-line;

8 Och HERREN sade till mig: "Vad ser du, Amos?" Jag svarade: "Ett sänklod." Då sade Herren: "Se, jag skall hänga upp ett sänklod mitt ibland mitt folk Israel; jag kan icke vidare tillgiva dem.

And Jehovah said to me, What seest thou, Amos? And I said, A plumb-line. And the Lord said, Behold I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not spare them any more.

9 Isaks offerhöjder skola bliva ödelagda och Israels helgedomar förstörda, och mot Jerobeams hus skall jag uppresa mig med svärdet."

The high places of Isaac shall be desolate, And the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste, And I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Men Amasja, prästen i Betel, sände till Jerobeam, Israels konung, och lät säga: "Amos förehar en sammansvärjning mot dig, mitt i Israels hus. Landet kan icke härda ut med allt hans ordande.

Then sent Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, To Jeroboam, the king of Israel, and said: Amos conspireth against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; The land is not able to bear all his words.

11 Ty så har Amos sagt: 'Jerobeam skall dö för svärd, och Israel skall föras bort i fångenskap ur sitt land.'"

For thus hath Amos said: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, And Israel shall surely be led captive from their own land.

12 Och Amasja sade till Amos: "Du siare, gå din väg och sök din tillflykt i Juda land; där må du äta ditt bröd, och där må du profetera.

And Amaziah said to Amos, Go, thou seer! flee into the land of Judah! There eat thy bread, and there prophesy!

13 Men i Betel får du icke vidare profetera, ty det är en konungslig helgedom och ett rikets tempel."

But prophesy no more at Bethel, For it is the king's sanctuary, And it is the king's abode.

14 Då svarade Amos och sade till Amasja: "Jag är varken en profet eller en profetlärljunge, jag är en boskapsherde, som lever av mullbärsfikon.

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah: I was no prophet, nor the son of a prophet; I was a shepherd, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit.

15 Men HERREN tog mig från hjorden; HERREN sade till mig: 'Gå åstad och profetera för mitt folk Israel.'

And Jehovah took me from the flock; And Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel!

16 Så hör nu HERRENS ord. Du säger: 'Profetera icke mot Israel och predika icke mot Isaks hus.'

Now, therefore, hear the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, And speak no word against the house of Isaac!

17 Därför säger HERREN så: Din hustru skall bliva en sköka i staden, dina söner och döttrar skola falla för svärd, ditt land skall bliva utskiftat med mätsnöre, själv skall du dö i ett orent land, och Israel skall föras bort i fångenskap ur sitt land."

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: “Thy wife shall be put to shame in the city, And thy sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Thy land shall be divided by the line, And thou shalt die in a polluted land, And Israel shall surely be led captive from his own land.”
