1 I hans tid drog Nebukadnessar, konungen i Babel, upp, och Jojakim blev honom underdånig och förblev så i tre år; men sedan avföll han från honom.

In his days came up Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and Jehoyakim became his servant for three years: and then he returned and rebelled against him.

2 Då sände HERREN över honom kaldéernas; araméernas, moabiternas och Ammons barns härskaror; han sände dem över Juda för att förgöra det -- i enlighet med det ord som HERREN hade talat genom sina tjänare profeterna.

And the Lord sent against him predatory bands of the Chaldeans, and predatory bands of the Syrians, and predatory bands of the Moabites, and predatory bands of the children of 'Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by means of his servants the prophets.

3 Ja, det var efter HERRENS ord som detta kom över Juda, i det att han försköt det från sitt ansikte för de synder Manasse hade begått och för allt vad denne hade förövat,

But only at the order of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove the same out of his sight, for the sins of Menasseh, in accordance with all that he had done;

4 jämväl för det oskyldiga blod som han utgöt, ty han uppfyllde Jerusalem med oskyldigt blod; det ville HERREN icke förlåta.

And also for the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; wherefore the Lord would not pardon.

5 Vad nu mer är att säga om Jojakim och om allt vad han gjorde, det finnes upptecknat i Juda konungars krönika.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoyakim, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.

6 Och Jojakim gick till vila hos sina fäder. Och hans son Jojakin blev konung efter honom.

And Jehoyakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoyachin his son became king in his stead.

7 Därefter drog konungen i Egypten icke vidare ut ur sitt land, ty konungen i Babel hade intagit allt som tillhörde konungen i Egypten, från Egyptens bäck ända till floden Frat."

And the king of Egypt came no more again out of his land; for the king of Babylon had taken from the brook of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that had pertained to the king of Egypt.

8 Jojakin var aderton år gammal, när han blev konung, och han regerade tre månader i Jerusalem. Hans moder hette Nehusta, Elnatans dotter, från Jerusalem.

Eighteen years old was Jehoyachin when he became king, and three months did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Nechushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

9 Han gjorde vad ont var i HERRENS ögon, alldeles såsom hans fader hade gjort.

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, all just as that his father had done.

10 På den tiden drogo den babyloniske konungen Nebukadnessars tjänare upp till Jerusalem, och staden blev belägrad.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was put in a state of siege.

11 Och Nebukadnessar, konungen i Babel, kom till staden, medan hans tjänare belägrade den.

And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came against the city, while his servants were besieging it.

12 Då gav sig Jojakin, Juda konung, åt konungen i Babel, med sin moder och med sina tjänare, sina hövitsmän och hovmän; och konungen i Babel tog honom så till fånga i sitt åttonde regeringsår.

And Jehoyachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his court-officers: and the king of Babylon took him [captive] in the eighth year of his reign.

13 Och han förde bort därifrån alla skatter i HERRENS hus och skatterna i konungshuset, han lösbröt ock beläggningen från alla gyllene föremål som Salomo, Israels konung, hade låtit göra för HERRENS tempel, detta i enlighet med vad HERREN hade hotat.

And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon the king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had spoken.

14 Och han förde bort i fångenskap hela Jerusalem, alla hövitsmän och alla tappra stridsmän; tio tusen förde han bort, jämväl alla timmermän och smeder. Inga andra lämnades kvar än de ringaste av folket i landet.

And he led away as exiles all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand exiles, and all the craftsmen and locksmiths: there was none left, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.

15 Han förde Jojakin bort till Babel; därjämte förde han konungens moder, konungens hustrur och hans hovmän samt de mäktige i landet såsom fångar bort ifrån Jerusalem till Babel,

And he led away Jehoyachin as exile to Babylon; and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his court-officers, and the mighty men of the land, he led into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

16 så ock alla stridsmännen, sju tusen, och timmermännen och smederna, ett tusen, allasammans raska och krigsdugliga män. Dessa fördes nu av den babyloniske konungen i fångenskap till Babel.

And all the men of might, seven thousand [in number], and the craftsmen and the locksmiths a thousand [in number], all strong men, apt for war; and the king of Babylon brought them into exile to Babylon.

17 Men konungen i Babel gjorde hans farbroder Mattanja till konung i hans ställe och förändrade dennes namn till Sidkia.

And the king of Babylon made Mattanyah his uncle king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18 Sidkia var tjuguett år gammal, när han blev konung, och han regerade elva år i Jerusalem. Hans moder hette Hamital, Jeremias dotter, från Libna.

Twenty and one years old was Zedekiah when he became king, and eleven years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Chamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

19 Han gjorde vad ont var i HERRENS ögon, alldeles såsom Jojakim hade gjort.

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, all just as Jehoyakim had done.

20 Ty på grund av HERRENS vrede skedde vad som skedde med Jerusalem och Juda, till dess att han kastade dem bort ifrån sitt ansikte.

For through the anger of the Lord it occurred in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
