Rut 3
1 Och hennes svärmoder Noomi sade till henne: »Min dotter, jag vill söka skaffa dig ro, för att det må gå dig väl.
But afterwards, when she returned to her mother-in-law, Naomi said to her: “My daughter, I will seek rest for you, and I will provide so that it may be well with you.
2 Så hör då: Boas, med vilkens tjänarinnor du har varit tillsammans, är ju vår frände. Och just i natt kastar han korn på sin tröskplats.
This Boaz, whose young women you joined in the field, is our near relative, and this night he will winnow the threshing floor of barley.
3 Så två dig nu och smörj dig och kläd dig, och gå ned till tröskplatsen. Men laga så, att mannen icke får se dig, förrän han har ätit och druckit.
Therefore, wash and anoint yourself, and put on your decorative garments, and go down to the threshing floor, but do not let the man see you, while he finishes eating and drinking.
4 När han då lägger sig, så se efter, var han lägger sig, och gå dit och lyft upp täcket vid hans fötter och lägg dig där; han skall då själv säga dig vad du bör göra.»
But when he goes to sleep, observe the place where he sleeps. And you will approach and lift up the covering, the part which covers near his feet, and lay yourself down, and sleep there; but he will tell you what you are obliged to do.”
5 Hon svarade: »Allt vad du säger vill jag göra.»
She answered, “I will do everything as you have instructed.”
6 Och hon gick ned till tröskplatsen och gjorde alldeles såsom hennes svärmoder hade bjudit henne.
And she went down to the threshing floor, and she did everything that her mother-in-law had commanded her.
7 Ty när Boas hade ätit och druckit, så att hans hjärta blev glatt, och sedan han hade gått åstad och lagt sig invid sädeshögen, kom hon oförmärkt och lyfte upp täcket vid hans fötter och lade sig där.
And when Boaz had finished eating and drinking, and he was merry, and he had gone to sleep by the pile of sheaves, she approached secretly, and, lifting the covering near his feet, she laid herself down.
8 Vid midnattstiden blev mannen uppskrämd och böjde sig framåt och fick då se en kvinna ligga vid hans fötter.
And behold, when it was the middle of the night, the man became frightened and confused, and he saw a woman lying near his feet.
9 Och han sade: »Vem är du?» Hon svarade: »Jag är Rut, din tjänarinna. Bred ut din mantelflik över din tjänarinna, ty du är min bördeman.»
And he said to her, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth, your handmaid. Spread your covering over your servant, for you are a near relative.”
10 Då sade han: »Välsignad vare du av HERREN, min dotter! Du har nu givit ett större bevis på din kärlek än förut, därigenom att du icke har lupit efter unga män, vare sig fattiga eller rika.
And he said, “You are blessed by the Lord, daughter, and you have excelled beyond your earlier benevolence, because you have not followed young men, whether poor or rich.
11 Så frukta nu icke, min dotter; allt vad du säger vill jag göra dig. Ty allt folket i min stad vet att du är en rättskaffens kvinna.
Therefore, do not be afraid, but whatever you decide about me, I will accomplish for you. For all the people, who dwell within the gates of my city, know that you are a virtuous woman.
12 Nu är det visserligen sant att jag är din bördeman; men en annan bördeman finnes, som är närmare än jag.
Neither do I deny myself to be a near relative, but there is another nearer than I.
13 Stanna nu kvar i natt; om han i morgon vill taga dig efter bördesrätt, gott, må han då göra det, så sant HERREN lever. Ligg nu kvar ända till morgonen.»
Be at peace for this night. And when morning arrives, if he is willing to uphold the law of kinship for you, things will turn out well; but if he is not willing, then, I will take you, without any doubt, as the Lord lives. Sleep until morning.”
14 Så låg hon vid hans fötter ända till morgonen, men hon fick stå upp, innan ännu någon kunde känna igen den andre; ty han tänkte: »Det får icke bliva känt att kvinnan har kommit hit till tröskplatsen.»
And so she slept by his feet until the night was ending. And she arose before men could inquire of one another. And Boaz said, “Be careful, lest someone know that you came here.”
15 Och han sade: »Räck hit manteln som du har på dig, och håll fram den.» Och hon höll fram den. Då mätte han upp sex mått korn och gav henne att bära; därefter gick hon in i staden.
And again he said, “Spread your mantle that covers you, and hold it with both hands.” As she extended it and held it, he measured six measures of barley and placed it upon her. Carrying it, she went into the city.
16 Och när hon kom till sin svärmoder, sade denna: »Huru har det gått för dig, min dotter?» Då berättade hon för henne allt vad mannen hade gjort mot henne;
And she came to her mother-in-law, who said to her: “What have you been doing, daughter?” And she explained to her all that the man had accomplished for her.
17 och hon sade: »Dessa sex mått korn gav han mig, i det han sade: 'Du skall icke komma tomhänt hem till din svärmoder.'»
And she said, “Behold, he gave me six measures of barley, for he said, ‘I am not willing to have you return empty to your mother-in-law.’”
18 Då svarade hon: »Bida, min dotter, till dess du får se huru saken avlöper; ty mannen skall icke giva sig till ro, med mindre han i dag för saken till sitt slut.»
And Naomi said, “Wait, daughter, until we see how things will turn out. For the man will not rest until he has accomplished what he said.”
