Psaltaren 82

1 En psalm av Asaf. Gud står i gudaförsamlingen, mitt ibland gudarna håller han dom:

A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the midst of his great assembly to judge among the gods.

2 »Huru länge skolen I döma orätt och vara partiska för de ogudaktiga? (Sela)

How long will you make unfair judgments and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah)

3 Skaffen den arme och faderlöse rätt, given den betryckte och torftige rättvisa.

Defend the poor and orphans; support the rights of those who are oppressed and suffering.

4 Befrien den arme och fattige, rädden honom från de ogudaktigas hand.

Rescue the poor and those unable to help themselves; save them from the clutches of evil people.

5 Men de veta intet och hava intet förstånd, de vandra i mörker; jordens alla grundvalar vackla.

They don't have any wisdom; they live in the dark; the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 Jag har väl sagt att I ären gudar och allasammans den Högstes söner;

I say, “You are gods; all of you are children of the Most High.

7 men I måsten dock dö, såsom människor dö, och falla, likaväl som var furste faller.»

But you will die like any human being, you will fall like any other leader.”

8 Ja, stå upp, o Gud; håll dom över jorden, ty med arvsrätt råder du över alla folk. Se Änglar i Ordförkl.

Stand up, Lord, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.
