Psaltaren 52

1 För sångmästaren; en sång av David,

For the end, [a Psalm] of instruction by David, when Doec the Idumean came and told Saul, and said to him, David is gone to the house of Abimelech. Why dost thou, O mighty man, boast of iniquity in [thy] mischief? All the day

2 när edoméen Doeg kom och berättade för Saul och sade till honom: »David har gått in i Ahimeleks hus.»

thy tongue has devised unrighteousness; like a sharpened razor thou hast wrought deceit.

3 Varför berömmer du dig av vad ont är, du våldsverkare? Guds nåd varar ju beständigt.

Thou hast loved wickedness more than goodness; unrighteousness better than to speak righteousness. (Pause)

4 Din tunga far efter fördärv, den är lik en skarp rakkniv, du arglistige.

Thou has loved all words of destruction, [and] a deceitful tongue.

5 Du älskar ont mer än gott, lögn mer än att tala vad rätt är. (Sela)

Therefore may God destroy thee for ever, may he pluck thee up and utterly remove thee from [thy] dwelling, and thy root from the land of the living. (Pause)

6 Ja, du älskar allt fördärvligt tal, du falska tunga.

And the righteous shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say,

7 Därför skall ock Gud störta dig ned för alltid, han skall gripa dig och rycka dig ut ur din hydda och utrota dig ur de levandes land. (Sela)

Behold the man who made not God his help; but trusted in the abundance of his wealth, and strengthened himself in his vanity.

8 Och de rättfärdiga skola se det och frukta, de skola le åt honom:

But I am as a fruitful olive in the house of God: I have trusted in the mercy of God for ever, even for evermore.

9 »Se där är den man som icke gjorde Gud till sitt värn, utan förlitade sig på sin stora rikedom, trotsig i sin lystnad!» Men jag skall vara såsom ett grönskande olivträd i Guds hus; jag förtröstar på Guds nåd alltid och evinnerligen. Jag skall evinnerligen tacka dig för att du har gjort det; och inför dina fromma skall jag förbida ditt namn, ty det är gott.

I will give thanks to thee for ever, for thou hast done [it]: and I will wait on thy name; for [it is] good before the saints.
