Domarboken 8

1 Men Efraims män sade till honom: »Huru har du kunnat handla så mot oss? Varför bådade du icke upp oss, när du drog ut till strid mot Midjan?» Och de foro häftigt ut mot honom.

And they said to him [the] man of Ephraim what? [is] the thing this [which] you have done to us to not to summon us that you went to fight against Midian and they quarreled! with him with force.

2 Han svarade dem: »Vad har jag då uträttat i jämförelse med eder? Är icke Efraims efterskörd bättre än Abiesers vinbärgning?

And he said to them what? have I done now like you ¿ not good [are] [the] gleanings of Ephraim more than [the] grape harvest of Abiezer.

3 I eder hand var det som Gud gav de midjanitiska hövdingarna Oreb och Seeb. Vad har jag kunnat uträtta i jämförelse med eder?» Då han så talade, stillades deras vrede mot honom.

In hand your he has given God [the] commanders of Midian Oreb and Zeeb and what? have I been able to do like you then it relaxed spirit their from on him when said he the word this.

4 När sedan Gideon kom till Jordan, gick han över jämte de tre hundra män som han hade med sig; och de voro trötta av förföljandet.

And he came Gideon the Jordan towards [was] passing over he and three hundred the man who [were] with him [were] exhausted and pursuing.

5 Han sade därför till männen i Suckot: »Given några kakor bröd åt folket som följer mig, ty de äro trötta; se, jag är nu i färd med att förfölja Seba och Salmunna, de midjanitiska konungarna.»

And he said to [the] people of Succoth give please round loaves of bread to the people which [is] at feet my for [are] exhausted they and I [am] pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna [the] kings of Midian.

6 Men de överste i Suckot svarade: »Har du då redan Seba och Salmunna i ditt våld, eftersom du fordrar att vi skola giva bröd åt din här?»

And he said [the] officials of Succoth ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to army your bread.

7 Gideon sade »Nåväl; när HERREN, giver Seba och Salmunna i min hand, skall jag söndertröska edert kött med ökentörnen och tistlar.»

And he said Gideon therefore when gives Yahweh Zebah and Zalmunna in hand my and I will thresh flesh your with thorns of the wilderness and with briers.

8 Så drog han vidare därifrån upp till Penuel och talade på samma sätt till dem som voro där; och männen i Penuel gåvo honom samma svar som männen i Suckot hade givit.

And he went up from there Penuel and he spoke to them like this and they answered him [the] men of Penuel just as they had answered [the] men of Succoth.

9 Då sade han ock till männen i Penuel: »När jag kommer välbehållen tillbaka, skall jag riva ned detta torn.»

And he said also to [the] men of Penuel saying when return I in peace I will tear down the tower this.

10 Men Seba och Salmunna befunno sig i Karkor och hade sin här hos sig, vid pass femton tusen man, allt som var kvar av österlänningarnas hela här; ty de stupade utgjorde ett hundra tjugu tusen svärdbeväpnade män.

And Zebah and Zalmunna [were] in Karkor and armies their [were] with them about fif-teen thousand all those [who] remained of all [the] army of [the] people of [the] east and those [who] fell [were] one hundred and twenty thousand man [who] drew [the] sword.

11 Och Gideon drog upp på karavanvägen, öster om Noba och Jogbeha, och överföll hären, där den låg sorglös i sitt läger.

And they fled Zebah and Zalmunna and he pursued after them and he captured [the] two - [the] kings of Midian Zebah and Zalmunna and all the army he routed.

13 När därefter Gideon, Joas' son, vände tillbaka från striden, ned från Hereshöjden,

And he returned Gideon [the] son of Joash from the battle from to [the] ascent of Heres.

14 fick han fatt på en ung man, en av invånarna i Suckot, och utfrågade denne, och han måste skriva upp åt honom de överste i Suckot och de äldste där, sjuttiosju män.

And he captured a young man one of [the] men of Succoth and he enquired of him and he wrote down to him [the] officials of Succoth and elders its seventy and seven man.

15 När han sedan kom till männen i Suckot, sade han: »Se här äro nu Seba och Salmunna, om vilka I hånfullt saden till mig: 'Har du redan Seba och Salmunna i ditt våld, eftersom du fordrar att vi skola giva bröd åt dina trötta män?'»

And he came to [the] men of Succoth and he said here! Zebah and Zalmunna whom you taunted me saying ¿ [is] [the] hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in hand your that we will give to men your weary bread.

16 Därefter lät han gripa de äldste i staden och tog ökentörnen och tistlar och lät männen i Suckot få känna dem.

And he took [the] elders of the city and [the] thorns of the wilderness and the briers and he taught with them [the] men of Succoth.

17 Och tornet i Penuel rev han ned och dräpte männen i staden.

And [the] tower of Penuel he tore down and he killed [the] men of the city.

18 Och till Seba och Salmunna sade han: »Hurudana voro de män som I dräpten på Tabor?» De svarade: »De voro lika dig; var och en såg ut såsom en konungason.»

And he said to Zebah and to Zalmunna where? [are] the men whom you killed at Tabor (and they said *L(abh)*) like you like them one [was] like [the] appearance of [the] sons of the king.

19 Han sade: »Då var det mina bröder, min moders söner. Så sant HERREN lever: om I haden låtit dem leva, skulle jag icke hava dräpt eder.»

And he said [were] brothers my [the] sons of mother my they [by] [the] life of Yahweh if you had let live them not I killed you.

20 Sedan sade han till Jeter, sin förstfödde: »Stå upp och dräp dem.» Men gossen drog icke ut sitt svärd, ty han var försagd, eftersom han ännu var allenast en gosse.

And he said to Jether firstborn his arise kill them and not he drew the young man sword his for he was afraid for still he [was] a young man.

21 Då sade Seba och Salmunna: »Stå upp, du själv, och stöt ned oss; ty sådan mannen är, sådan är ock hans styrka.» Så stod då Gideon upp och dräpte Seba och Salmunna. Och han tog för sin räkning de prydnader som sutto på deras kamelers halsar.

And he said Zebah and Zalmunna arise you and fall on us for [is] like the man strength his and he arose Gideon and he killed Zebah and Zalmunna and he took the ornaments which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.

22 Och israeliterna sade till Gideon: »Råd du över oss, och såsom du så ock sedan din son och din sonson; ty du har frälst oss ur Midjans hand.»

And they said [the] man of Israel to Gideon rule over us both you as well as son your as well as [the] son of son your for you have delivered us from [the] hand of Midian.

23 Men Gideon svarade dem: »Jag vill icke råda över eder, och min son skall icke heller råda över eder, utan HERREN skall råda över eder.»

And he said to them Gideon not I will rule I over you and not he will rule son my over you Yahweh he will rule over you.

24 Och Gideon sade ytterligare till dem: »Ett vill jag dock begära av eder: var och en av eder må giva mig den näsring han har fått såsom byte.» Ty midjaniterna buro näsringar av guld, eftersom de voro ismaeliter.

And he said to them Gideon let me ask from you a petition and give to me everyone earring of plunder his for earrings of gold [belonged] to them for [were] Ishmaelites they.

25 De svarade: »Ja, vi vilja giva dig dem.» Och de bredde ut ett kläde, och var och en kastade på detta den näsring han hade fått såsom byte.

And they said certainly we will give [them] and they spread out the garment and they threw there towards everyone earring of plunder his.

26 Och guldringarna, som han hade begärt, befunnos väga ett tusen sju hundra siklar i guld -- detta förutom de halsprydnader, de örhängen och de purpurröda kläder som de midjanitiska konungarna hade burit, och förutom de kedjor som hade suttit på deras kamelers halsar.

And it was [the] weight of [the] earrings of gold which he asked for one thousand and seven hundred gold apart from the ornaments and the pendants and [the] garments of purple that [were] on [the] kings of Midian and apart from the necklaces which [were] on [the] necks of camels their.

27 Och Gideon lät därav göra en efod och satte upp den i sin stad, Ofra; och hela Israel lopp där i trolös avfällighet efter den. Och den blev för Gideon och hans hus till en snara.

And he made it Gideon into an ephod and he placed it in city his in Ophrah and they acted as prostitutes all Israel after it there and it became for Gideon and for household his a snare.

28 Så blev nu Midjan kuvat under Israels barn och upplyfte icke mer sitt huvud. Och landet hade ro i fyrtio år, så länge Gideon levde.

And it was subdued Midian before [the] people of Israel and not they repeated to lift up head their and it was at peace the land forty year[s] in [the] days of Gideon.

29 Men Jerubbaal, Joas' son, gick hem och stannade sedan i sitt hus.

And he went Jerub-Baal [the] son of Joash and he dwelt in own house his.

30 Och Gideon hade sjuttio söner, som hade utgått från hans länd, ty han ägde många hustrur.

And to Gideon they belonged seventy sons [who] came out of thigh his for wives many they belonged to him.

31 En bihustru som han hade i Sikem födde honom ock en son; denne gav han namnet Abimelek.

And concubine his who [was] in Shechem she bore to him also she a son and he made name his Abimelech.

32 Och Gideon, Joas' son, dog i en god ålder och blev begraven i sin fader Joas' grav i det abiesritiska Ofra

And he died Gideon [the] son of Joash in old age good and he was buried in [the] tomb of Joash father his in Ophrah of [the] Abi-ezrite[s].

33 Men när Gideon var död, begynte Israels barn åter i trolös avfällighet löpa efter Baalerna; och de gjorde Baal-Berit till gud åt sig.

And it was just when he had died Gideon and they turned back [the] people of Israel and they acted as prostitutes after the Baals and they made for themselves Baal-Berith into god.

34 Israels barn tänkte icke på HERREN, sin Gud, som hade räddat dem från alla deras fienders hand runt omkring.

And not they remembered [the] people of Israel Yahweh God their who delivered them from [the] hand of all enemies their from round about.

35 Ej heller visade de Jerubbaals, Gideons, hus någon kärlek, till gengäld för allt det goda som han hade gjort mot Israel.

And not they did loyalty with [the] house of Jerub-Baal Gideon according to all the good which he had done with Israel.
