Jesaja 21
1 Utsaga om Öknen vid havet. Likasom en storm som far fram i Sydlandet kommer det från öknen, från det fruktansvärda landet.
The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweeping on, it cometh from the wilderness, from a dreadful land.
2 En gruvlig syn har blivit mig kungjord: »Härjare härja, rövare röva. Drag upp, du Elam! Träng på, du Mediens folk! På all suckan vill jag göra slut.»
A grievous vision is declared unto me: 'The treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam! besiege, O Media! All the sighing thereof have I made to cease.'
3 Fördenskull darra nu mina länder, ångest griper mig, lik en barnaföderskas ångest; förvirring kommer över mig, så att jag icke kan höra, förskräckelse fattar mig, så att jag icke kan se.
Therefore are my loins filled with convulsion; pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman in travail; I am bent so that I cannot hear; I am affrighted so that I cannot see.
4 Mitt hjärta är utom sig, jag kväljes av förfäran; skymningen, som jag längtade efter, vållar mig nu skräck.
My heart is bewildered, terror hath overwhelmed me; the twilight that I longed for hath been turned for me into trembling.
5 Man dukar bord, man breder ut täcken, man äter och dricker. Nej, stån upp, I furstar; smörjen edra sköldar!
They prepare the table, they light the lamps, they eat, they drink — 'Rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.'
6 Ty så har Herren sagt till mig: »Gå och ställ ut en väktare; vad han får se, det må han förkunna.
For thus hath the Lord said unto me: Go, set a watchman; let him declare what he seeth!
7 Och om han ser ett tåg, ryttare par efter par, ett tåg av åsnor, ett tåg av kameler, då må han giva akt, noga giva akt.»
And when he seeth a troop, horsemen by pairs, a troop of asses, a troop of camels, he shall hearken diligently with much heed.
8 Och denne ropade, såsom ett lejon ryter: »Herre, här står jag på vakt beständigt, dagen igenom, och jag förbliver här på min post natt efter natt.
And he cried as a lion: 'Upon the watch-tower, O Lord, I stand continually in the daytime, and I am set in my ward all the nights.'
9 Och se, nu kommer här ett tåg av män, ryttare par efter par!» Och åter talade han och sade: »Fallet, fallet är Babel! Alla dess gudabeläten äro nedbrutna till jorden.»
And, behold, there came a troop of men, horsemen by pairs. And he spoke and said: 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the graven images of her gods are broken unto the ground.'
10 O du mitt krossade, mitt söndertröskade folk, vad jag har hört av HERREN Sebaot, Israels Gud, det har jag förkunnat för eder.
O thou my threshing, and the winnowing of my floor, that which I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11 Utsaga om Duma. Man ropar till mig från Seir: »Väktare, vad lider natten? Väktare, vad lider natten?»
The burden of Dumah. One calleth unto me out of Seir: 'Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?'
12 Väktaren svarar: »Morgon har kommit, och likväl är det natt. Viljen I fråga mer, så frågen; kommen tillbaka igen.»
The watchman said: 'The morning cometh, and also the night — if ye will inquire, inquire ye; return, come.'
13 Utsaga över Arabien. Tagen natthärbärge i Arabiens vildmark, I karavaner från Dedan.
The burden upon Arabia. In the thickets in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye caravans of Dedanites.
14 Må man komma emot de törstande och giva dem vatten. Ja, inbyggarna i Temas land gå de flyktande till mötes med bröd.
Unto him that is thirsty bring ye water! The inhabitants of the land of Tema did meet the fugitive with his bread.
15 Ty de fly undan svärd, undan draget svärd, och undan spänd båge och undan krigets tunga.
For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16 Ty så har Herren sagt till mig: Om ett år, såsom dagakarlen räknar året, skall all Kedars härlighet vara förgången,
For thus hath the Lord said unto me: 'Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail;
17 och föga skall då vara kvar av Kedars hjältars bågar, så många de äro. Ty så har HERREN, Israels Gud, talat.
and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished; for the LORD, the God of Israel, hath spoken it.'
