Daniel 3
1 Konung Nebukadnessar lät göra en gyllene bildstod, sextio alnar hög och sex alnar bred; den lät han ställa upp på Duraslätten i Babels hövdingdöme.
Nabugodonosor, the kyng, made a goldun ymage, in the heiythe of sixti cubitis, and in the breede of sixe cubitis; and he settide it in the feeld of Duram, of the prouynce of Babiloyne.
2 Och konung Nebukadnessar sände åstad och lät församla satraper, landshövdingar och ståthållare, fogdar, skattmästare, domare, lagtolkare och alla andra makthavande i hövdingdömena, för att de skulle komma till invigningen av den bildstod som konung Nebukadnessar hade låtit ställa upp.
Therfor Nabugodonosor sente to gadere togidere the wise men, magistratis, and iugis, and duykis, and tirauntis, and prefectis, and alle princes of cuntreis, that thei schulden come togidere to the halewyng of the ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde reisid.
3 Då församlade sig satraperna, landshövdingarna och ståthållarna, fogdarna, skattmästarna, domarna, lagtolkarna och alla andra makthavande i hövdingdömena till invigningen av den bildstod som konung Nebukadnessar hade låtit ställa upp och när de så stodo framför den bildstod som Nebukadnessar hade låtit ställa upp,
Thanne the wise men, magistratis, and iugis, and duykis, and tirauntis, and beste men, that weren set in poweris, and alle the princes of cuntreis, weren gaderid togidere, that thei schulden come togidere to the halewyng of the ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde reisid. Forsothe thei stoden in the siyt of the ymage, which Nabugodonosor hadde set; and a bedele criede myytili,
4 utropade en härold med hög röst: »Detta vare eder befallt, I folk och stammar och tungomål:
It is seid to you, puplis, kynredis, and langagis;
5 När I hören ljudet av horn, pipor, cittror, sambukor, psaltare, säckpipor och allahanda andra instrumenter, skolen I falla ned och tillbedja den gyllene bildstod som konung Nebukadnessar har låtit ställa upp.
in the our in which ye heren the soun of trumpe, and of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, of sawtre, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, falle ye doun, and worschipe the goldun ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor made.
6 Men den som icke faller ned och tillbeder, han skall i samma stund kastas i den brinnande ugnen.»
Sotheli if ony man fallith not doun, and worschipith not, in the same our he schal be sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
7 Så snart nu allt folket hörde ljudet av horn, pipor, cittror, sambukor, psaltare och allahanda andra instrumenter, föllo de alltså ned, alla folk och stammar och tungomål, och tillbådo den gyllene bildstod som konung Nebukadnessar hade låtit ställa upp.
Therfor aftir these thingis, anoon as alle puplis herden the sown of trumpe, of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, and of sawtre, of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, alle puplis, lynagis, and langagis fellen doun, and worschipiden the golden ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde maad.
8 Men strax därefter kommo några kaldeiska män fram och anklagade judarna.
And anoon in that tyme men of Caldee neiyiden, and accusiden the Jewis,
9 De togo till orda och sade till konung Nebukadnessar: Må du leva evinnerligen, o konung!
and seiden to the kyng Nabugodonosor, Kyng, lyue thou with outen ende.
10 Du, o konung, har givit befallning att alla människor, när de hörde ljudet av horn, pipor, cittror, sambukor, psaltare, säckpipor och allahanda andra instrumenter, skulle falla ned och tillbedja den gyllene bildstoden,
Thou, kyng, hast set a decree, that ech man that herith the sown of trumpe, of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, and of sawtree, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, bowe doun hym silf, and worschipe the goldun ymage; forsothe if ony man fallith not doun,
11 och att var och en som icke fölle ned och tillbåde skulle kastas i den brinnande ugnen.
and worschipith not, be he sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
12 Men nu äro här några judiska män, Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego, vilka du har förordnat att förvalta Babels hövdingdöme. Dessa män hava icke aktat på dig, o konung. De dyrka icke dina gudar; och den gyllene bildstod som du har låtit ställa upp tillbedja de icke.»
Therfor men Jewis ben, Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, whiche thou hast ordeynede on the werkis of the cuntrei of Babiloyne. Thou kyng, these men han dispisid thi decree; thei onouren not thi goddis, and thei worshipen not the goldun ymage, which thou reisidist.
13 Då befallde Nebukadnessar i vrede och förbittring att man skulle föra fram Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego. Och när man hade fört fram männen inför konungen,
Thanne Nabugodonosor comaundide, in woodnesse and in wraththe, that Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago schulden be brouyt; whiche weren brouyt anoon in the siyt of the kyng.
14 talade Nebukadnessar till dem och sade: »Är det av förakt som I, Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego, icke dyrken mina gudar och icke tillbedjen den gyllene bildstod som jag har låtit ställa upp?
And the kyng Nabugodonosor pronounside, and seide to hem, Whether verili Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, ye onouren not my goddis, and worschipen not the golden ymage, which Y made?
15 Välan, allt må vara gott, om I ären redo, att när I hören ljudet av horn, pipor, cittror, sambukor, psaltare, säckpipor och allahanda andra instrumenter, falla ned och tillbedja den bildstod som jag har låtit göra. Men om I icke tillbedjen, då skolen I i samma stund bliva kastade i den brinnande ugnen; och vilken är väl den gud som då kan rädda eder ur min hand?»
Now therfor be ye redi, in what euer our ye heren the sown of trumpe, of pipe, of harpe, of sambuke, of sawtree, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, bowe ye doun you, and worschipe the ymage which Y made; that if ye worschipen not, in the same our ye schulen be sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge; and who is God, that schal delyuere you fro myn hond?
16 Då svarade Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego och sade till konungen: »O Nebukadnessar, vi behöva icke giva dig något svar på detta.
Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago answeriden, and seiden to the king Nabugodonosor, It nedith not, that we answere of this thing to thee.
17 Om vår Gud, den som vi dyrka, förmår rädda oss, så skall han ock rädda oss ur den brinnande ugnen och ur din hand, o konung.
For whi oure God, whom we worschipen, mai rauysche vs fro the chymenei of fier brennynge, and mai delyuere fro thin hondis, thou kyng.
18 Men om han icke vill det, så må du veta, o konung, att vi ändå icke dyrka dina gudar, och att vi icke vilja tillbedja den gyllene bildstod som du har låtit ställa upp.»
That if he nyle, be it knowun to thee, thou kyng, that we onouren not thi goddis, and we worschipen not the goldun ymage, which thou hast reisid.
19 Då uppfylldes Nebukadnessar av vrede mot Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego, så att hans ansikte förvandlades. Och han hov upp sin röst och befallde att man skulle göra ugnen sju gånger hetare, än man någonsin hade sett den vara.
Thanne Nabugodonosor was fillid of woodnesse, and the biholdyng of his face was chaungid on Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago. And he comaundide, that the furneis schulde be maad hattere seuenfold, than it was wont to be maad hoot.
20 Och några handfasta män i hans här fingo befallning att binda Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego och kasta dem i den brinnande ugnen.
And he comaundide to the strongeste men of his oost, that thei schulden bynde the feet of Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, and sende hem in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
21 Så blevo dessa med sina underkläder, livrockar, mössor och andra kläder bundna och kastade i den brinnande ugnen.
And anoon tho men weren boundun, with brechis, and cappis, and schoon, and clothis, and weren sent in to the myddis of the furneis of fier brennynge;
22 Men eftersom konungens befallning hade varit så sträng, och ugnen därför hade blivit så övermåttan starkt upphettad, blevo de män som förde Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego ditupp själva dödade av eldslågorna,
for whi comaundement of the kyng constreinede. Forsothe the furneis was maad ful hoot; certis the flawme of the fier killid tho men, that hadden sent Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago in to the furneis.
23 vid det att de tre männen Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego bundna kastades ned i den brinnande ugnen.
Sotheli these thre men, Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago, fellen doun boundun in the mydis of the chymenei of fier brennynge.
24 Då blev konung Nebukadnessar förskräckt och stod upp med hast och frågade sina rådsherrar och sade: »Var det icke tre män som vi läto kasta bundna i elden? De svarade och sade till konungen: »Jo förvisso, o konung.»
Thanne kyng Nabugodonosor was astonyed, and roos hastily, and seide to hise beste men, Whether we senten not thre men feterid in to the myddis of the fier? Whiche answeriden the kyng, and seiden, Verili, kyng.
25 Han fortfor och sade: »Och ändå ser jag nu fyra män, som gå lösa och lediga inne i elden, och ingen skada har skett dem; och den fjärde ser så ut, som vore han en gudason.»
The kyng answeride, and seide, Lo! Y se foure men vnboundun, and goynge in the myddis of the fier, and no thing of corrupcioun is in hem; and the licnesse of the fourthe is lijk the sone of God.
26 Därefter trädde Nebukadnessar fram till öppningen på den brinnande ugnen och hov upp sin röst och sade: »Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego, I den högste Gudens tjänare kommen hitut.» Då gingo Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego ut ur elden.
Thanne the kyng Nabugodonosor neiyide to the dore of the furneis of fier brennynge, and seide, Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, the seruauntis of hiy God lyuynge, go ye out, and come ye. And anoon Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, yeden out of the myddis of the fier.
27 Och satraperna, landshövdingarna och ståthållarna och konungens rådsherrar församlade sig där, och fingo då se att elden icke hade haft någon makt över männens kroppar, och att håret på deras huvuden icke var svett, och att deras kläder icke hade blivit skadade; ja, man kunde icke ens känna lukten av något bränt på dem.
And the wise men, and magistratis, and iugis, and miyti men of the kyng, weren gaderid togidere, and bihelden tho men, for the fier hadde had no thing of power in the bodies of hem, and an heer of her heed was not brent; also the breechis of hem weren not chaungid, and the odour of fier hadde not passid bi hem.
28 Då hov Nebukadnessar upp sin röst och sade: »Lovad vare Sadraks, Mesaks och Abed-Negos Gud, som sände sin ängel och räddade sina tjänare, vilka så förtröstade på honom, att de överträdde konungens befallning och vågade sina liv för att icke nödgas dyrka eller tillbedja någon annan gud än sin egen Gud!
And Nabugodonosor brac out, and seide, Blessid be the God of hem, that is, of Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, that sente his aungel, and delyueride hise seruauntis, that bileuyden in to hym, and chaungiden the word of the kyng, and yauen her bodies, that thei schulden not serue, and that thei schulden not worschipe ony god, outakun her God aloone.
29 Och härmed giver jag nu befallning att vilken som helst av alla folk och stammar och tungomål, som säger något otillbörligt om Sadraks, Mesaks och Abed-Negos Gud, han skall huggas i stycken, och hans hus skall göras till en plats för orenlighet; ty ingen gud finnes, som så kan hjälpa som denne.
Therfor this decree is set of me, that ech puple, and langagis, and lynagis, who euer spekith blasfemye ayen God of Sidrac, and of Mysaac, and of Abdenago, perische, and his hous be distried; for noon other is God, that mai saue so.
30 Därefter lät konungen Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego komma till stor ära och makt i Babels hövdingdöme. Konung Nebukadnessar till alla folk och stammar och tungomål som finnas på hela jorden. Mycken frid vare med eder! Jag har funnit för gott att härmed kungöra de tecken och under som den högste Guden har gjort med mig. Ty stora äro förvisso hans tecken, och mäktiga äro hans under. Hans rike är ett evigt rike, och hans välde varar från släkte till släkte.
Thanne the kyng auaunside Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, in the prouynce of Babiloyne; and sente in to al the lond a pistle, conteynynge these wordis.
