Psaltaren 112

1 Halleluja. Säll är den som Herran fruktar, den som stor lust hafver till hans bud.

Praise Yahweh! (Happy are/He is pleased with) those who revere him, those who happily obey his commands.

2 Hans säd skall väldig vara på jordene; de frommas slägte skall välsignadt varda.

Their children will prosper in their land; and their descendants will be blessed [by God].

3 Rikedom och ymnoghet skall vara i hans hus, och hans rättfärdighet blifver evinnerliga.

Their families [MTY] will be very wealthy [DOU], and [the results of] their righteous deeds will endure forever.

4 Dem fromma går ljus upp i mörkret, af den nådeliga, barmhertiga och rättfärdiga.

Godly/Righteous people are [like] lights [SIM] that shine in the darkness on those who are kind, merciful and righteous.

5 Säll är den som barmhertig är, och gerna lånar; och lagar så sina saker, att han ingom orätt gör.

Things [will] go well for those who generously lend money to others and who conduct their businesses honestly.

6 Ty han skall blifva evinnerliga; den rättfärdige skall aldrig förgäten varda.

Righteous people will not be overwhelmed/worried/distressed [because of their troubles], and they will never be forgotten [by other people].

7 När en plåga kommer, fruktar han sig intet; hans hjerta hoppas stadeliga uppå Herran.

They are not afraid of [receiving] bad news; they confidently/completely trust in Yahweh.

8 Hans hjerta är tröst, och fruktar sig intet, tilldess han på sina fiendar lust ser.

They are confident and not afraid, because they know that they will see [God defeat] their enemies.

9 Han utströr, och gifver dem fattigom; hans rättfärdighet blifver evinnerliga; hans horn skall upphöjdt varda med äro.

They give things generously to poor/needy [people]; [the results of] their kind deeds will endure forever, and they [will] be exalted and honored.

10 Den ogudaktige skall det se, och honom skall förtrytat; sina tänder skall han bita tillsamman, och förgås; ty hvad de ogudaktige gerna vilja, det blifver omintet.

Wicked people see those things and are angry; they gnash their teeth [angrily], but they [will] disappear [and die]. The [wicked] things that they want to do [will] never happen.
