Ordspråksboken 1
1 Detta är Salomos Ordspråk, Davids sons, Israels Konungs;
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 Till att deraf lära vishet och tukt;
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 Förstånd, klokhet, rättfärdighet, dom och fromhet;
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 Att de fåkunnige måga varda vise, och de ynglingar förnuftige och försigtige.
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 Den der vis är, han hörer till, och förbättrar sig; och den der förståndig är, han tager vid råd;
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 Att han skall förstå ordspråk, och deras uttydelse; de visas läro, och deras gåtor.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Herrans fruktan är begynnelsen till att lära; de galna förakta vishet och tuktan.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Min son, hör dins faders tuktan, och förlåt icke dine moders bud;
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
9 Ty detta är dino hufvude en skön prydning, och en kedja om din hals.
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
10 Min son, om skalkar locka dig, så följ icke;
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 Om de säga: Gack med oss, vi vilje vakta efter blod, och gildra för den oskyldiga utan sak;
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
12 Vi vilje dem uppsluka lefvande, såsom helvetet; och de fromma, såsom dem der neder i grafvena fara; (Sheol h7585)
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 Vi vilje finna stora ägodelar; vi vilje fylla vår hus med rof;
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 Vågat med oss; en pung skall vara allas våras.
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 Min son, vandra intet den vägen med dem; vakta din fot för deras stig.
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 Ty deras fötter löpa till det ondt är, och skynda sig till att utgjuta blod.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Ty det är fåfängt utkasta nät för foglarnas ögon;
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Och vakta de sjelfve efter hvarsannars blod; och den ene står efter den andras lif.
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Alltså göra alle girige, att den ene tager dem andra lifvet bort.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Visheten klagar ute, och låter höra sig på gatomen.
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 Hon ropar i partomen ut för folket; hon talar sin ord i stadenom:
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 Huru länge viljen I, fåkunnige, fåkunnige vara; och de bespottare lust hafva till gabberi, och de galne hata lärdom?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Vänder eder till mitt straff; si, jag vill utsäga eder min anda, och göra eder min ord kunnig.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Efter jag nu kallar, och I neken det; jag räcker mina hand ut, och ingen aktar dertill;
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 Och I låten fara all min råd, och viljen icke mitt straff;
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 Så vill jag ock le åt edro ofärd, och begabba eder, när det kommer som I frukten;
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 När öfver eder kommer, såsom en storm, det I frukten, och edor ofärd såsom ett väder; när öfver eder kommer ångest och nöd.
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 Då skola de åkalla mig, men jag skall intet svara; de skola bittida söka mig, och intet finna;
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Derföre, att de hatade lärdom, och ville icke hafva Herrans fruktan;
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 Ville icke mitt råd, och lastade all min straff.
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 Så skola de äta af sins väsendes frukt, och af sin råd mätte varda;
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Att de fåkunnigas luste dräper dem, och de galnas lycka förgör dem.
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 Men den mig hörer, han skall säker blifva, och nog hafva, och för intet ondt frukta.
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
