Ordspråksboken 4
1 Hörer, min barn, edars faders tuktan, och akter uppå, att I mågen lära och kloke varda;
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, And attend, that ye may learn understanding!
2 Ty jag gifver eder en god lärdom; öfvergifver icke min lag.
For I give you good instruction; Forsake ye not my commandments.
3 Ty jag var mins faders son, späd, och den endaste for mine moder.
For I was my father's son, A tender and only child in the sight of my mother.
4 Och han lärde mig, och sade: Låt ditt hjerta anamma min ord; håll min bud, så får du lefva.
He taught me, and said to me, Let thy heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments, and live.
5 Anamma vishet, anamma förstånd; förgät icke, och vik icke ifrå mins muns tal.
Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, and depart not from, the words of my mouth.
6 Öfvergif henne icke, så skall hon behålla dig; älska henne, så skall hon bevara dig;
Forsake her not, and she will guard thee: Love her, and she will preserve thee.
7 Ty vishetenes begynnelse är, när man gerna hörer henne, och hafver klokhetena kärare, än alla ägodelar.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore gain wisdom, And with all thy gain, gain understanding.
8 Akta henne högt, så skall hon upphöja dig, och skall komma dig till äro, om du hafver henne kär.
Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her;
9 Hon skall ditt hufvud härliga pryda, och hedra dig med en dägelig krono.
She will give to thy head a graceful wreath, A beautiful crown will she bestow upon thee.
10 Så hör, min son, och tag vid mitt tal, så skola din år mång varda.
Hear, O my son! and receive my sayings! So shall the years of thy life be many.
11 Jag vill föra dig på vishetenes väg; jag vill leda dig på rätta stigen;
I have taught thee the way of wisdom, I have guided thee in the right path.
12 Så att, när du går, skall din gång icke varda dig tung, och när du löper, skall du icke stöta dig.
When thou goest, thy steps shall not be confined; And, when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Anamma tuktan, öfvergif henne icke; bevara henne, ty hon är ditt lif.
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; Keep her, for she is thy life.
14 Kom icke uppå de ogudaktigas stig, och träd icke uppå de ondas väg.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, And go not in the way of evil men;
15 Låt fara honom, och gack icke på honom; vik ifrå honom, och gack framom.
Avoid it, pass not upon it, Turn from it, and go away.
16 Ty de sofva icke, utan de hafva gjort illa, och gifva sig icke ro, utan de hafva gjort skada.
For they sleep not, unless they have done mischief; Yea, their sleep is taken away, unless they have caused some to fall.
17 Ty de föda sig af ogudaktigt bröd; och dricka af vrånghetenes vin.
For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
18 Men de rättfärdigas stig skin såsom ett ljus, hvilket framgår, och lyser allt intill fullan dag.
But the path of the righteous is as the light of dawn, Which groweth brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.
19 Men de ogudaktigas väg är såsom mörker, och de veta icke, hvar de fallande varda.
The way of the wicked is as thick darkness; They know not at what they stumble.
20 Min son, akta uppå min ord, och böj din öron till mitt tal.
My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear to my sayings;
21 Låt dem icke komma ifrå din ögon; behåll dem i ditt hjerta.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart!
22 Ty de äro lif dem som finna dem, och helsosam deras hela kroppe.
For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
23 Bevara ditt hjerta med all flit; ty derutaf går lifvet.
More than any thing which thou watchest, watch thy heart; For from it goeth forth life.
24 Låt bort ifrå dig en ond mun, och vrånga läppar låt långt vara ifrå dig.
Put away from thee a deceitful mouth, And remove far from thee perverse lips.
25 Låt din ögon se rätt fram för sig, och din ögnalock se rätt fram för dig.
Let thine eyes look straight forward, And thine eyelids be directed before thee.
26 Låt din fot gå lika, så går du visst.
Give heed to the path of thy foot, And let all thy ways be steadfast.
27 Vik hvarken på högra eller på venstra sidona; vänd din fot ifrå det ondt är.
Turn not to the right hand or to the left; Remove thy foot from evil.
