1 Detta är Konung Lemuels ord, den lära, som honom hans moder lärde.
The wordis of Lamuel, the king; the visioun bi which his modir tauyte hym.
2 Ack! min utkorade; ack! du mins lifs son; ack! min önskade son.
What my derlyng? what the derlyng of my wombe? what the derlyng of my desiris?
3 Låt icke qvinnor få dina förmågo, och gack icke de vägar, der Konungar förderfva sig på.
Yyue thou not thi catel to wymmen, and thi richessis to do awei kyngis.
4 O! icke Konungom, Lemuel; gif icke Konungom vin dricka, eller Förstom starka drycker;
A! Lamuel, nyle thou yiue wyn to kingis; for no pryuete is, where drunkenesse regneth.
5 Att de icke dricka, och förgäta rätthetena, och förvända de elända menniskors sak.
Lest perauenture thei drynke, and foryete domes, and chaunge the cause of the sones of a pore man.
6 Gif starka drycker dem som förgöras skola, och vin bedröfvadom själom;
Yyue ye sidur to hem that morenen, and wyn to hem that ben of bitter soule.
7 Att de måga dricka, och förgäta sina vedermödo, och icke mer ihågkomma sin jämmer.
Drinke thei, and foryete thei her nedinesse; and thenke thei no more on her sorewe.
8 Låt din mun upp för de dumbar, och för allas deras sak, som förlåtne äro.
Opene thi mouth for a doumb man,
9 Låt din mun upp, och döm rätt, och hämnas den elända och fattiga.
and opene thi mouth for the causes of alle sones that passen forth. Deme thou that that is iust, and deme thou a nedi man and a pore man.
10 Hvilkom en dygdelig qvinna beskärd är, hon är mycket ädlare, än aldrakosteligaste perlor.
Who schal fynde a stronge womman? the prijs of her is fer, and fro the laste endis.
11 Hennes mans hjerta tör förlåta sig uppå henne, och bergning skall honom icke fattas.
The herte of hir hosebond tristith in hir; and sche schal not haue nede to spuylis.
12 Hon gör honom ljuft, och icke ledt, i alla sina lifsdagar.
Sche schal yelde to hym good, and not yuel, in alle the daies of hir lijf.
13 Hon brukar sig på ull och lin, och arbetar gerna med sina händer.
Sche souyte wolle and flex; and wrouyte bi the counsel of hir hondis.
14 Hon är såsom ett köpmanskepp, som sina bergning fjerranefter hemtar.
Sche is maad as the schip of a marchaunt, that berith his breed fro fer.
15 Hon står om nattene upp, och gifver sitt husfolk mat, och sina tjenarinnor deras del.
And sche roos bi nyyt, and yaf prey to hir meyneals, and metis to hir handmaidis.
16 Hon tänker på en åker, och köper honom; och planterar en vingård af sina händers frukt.
Sche bihelde a feeld, and bouyte it; of the fruyt of hir hondis sche plauntide a vyner.
17 Hon gjordar sina länder fast, och stärker sina armar.
Sche girde hir leendis with strengthe, and made strong hir arm.
18 Hon märker, hvar hennes handel kan hafva förkofring; hennes lykta utsläckes icke om nattena.
Sche taastide, and siy, that hir marchaundie was good; hir lanterne schal not be quenchid in the niyt.
19 Hon räcker ut sina hand till rocken, och hennes finger fatta tenen.
Sche putte hir hondis to stronge thingis, and hir fyngris token the spyndil.
20 Hon utsträcker sina händer till den fattiga, och räcker sina hand dem torftiga.
Sche openyde hir hond to a nedi man, and stretchide forth hir hondis to a pore man.
21 Hon fruktar icke sino huse för snö; ty hela hennes hus hafver dubbel kläder.
Sche schal not drede for hir hous of the cooldis of snow; for alle hir meyneals ben clothid with double clothis.
22 Hon gör sig täcken; hvitt silke, och purpur är hennes kläde.
Sche made to hir a ray cloth; bijs and purpur is the cloth of hir.
23 Hennes man är prisad i portomen, när han sitter när landsens äldsta.
Hir hosebonde is noble in the yatis, whanne he sittith with the senatours of erthe.
24 Hon gör en kjortel, och säljer honom; ett bälte får hon krämarenom.
Sche made lynnun cloth, and selde; and yaf a girdil to a Chananei.
25 Hennes prydning är, att hon renlig och flitig är; och framdeles skall hon le.
Strengthe and fairnesse is the clothing of hir; and sche schal leiye in the laste dai.
26 Hon upplåter sin mun med vishet, och på hennes tungo är täckelig lära.
Sche openyde hir mouth to wisdom; and the lawe of merci is in hir tunge.
27 Hon ser till, huru det i hennes hus tillstår, och äter icke sitt bröd i lättja.
Sche bihelde the pathis of hir hous; and sche eet not breed idili.
28 Hennes söner komma upp, och prisa henne saliga; hennes man lofvar henne.
Hir sones risiden, and prechiden hir moost blessid; hir hosebonde roos, and preiside hir.
29 Många döttrar samka rikedom; men du öfvergår dem alla.
Many douytris gaderiden richessis; thou passidist alle.
30 Täckeligt och dägelig vara är intet; en qvinna, som Herran fruktar, den skall man lofva.
Fairnesse is disseiuable grace, and veyn; thilke womman, that dredith the Lord, schal be preisid.
31 Hon skall rosad varda af sina händers frukt, och hennes gerningar skola lofva henne i portomen.
Yyue ye to hir of the fruyt of hir hondis; and hir werkis preise hir in the yatis.
