Klagovisorna 4
1 Huru är guldet så platt förmörkradt, och det fina guldet så platt förvandladt, och helgedomens stenar ligga förströdde på alla gator?
ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
2 De ädla Zions barn, lik räknad vid guld, huru äro de nu lik räknad vid lerkärile, de en pottomakares werk äro?
BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
3 Drakarna gifva sinom ungom spenarna, och dägga dem; men mins folks dotter måste obarmhertig vara, lika som en struts i öknene.
GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
4 Spenabarnena låder för törsts skull tungan vid dess gom; de unga barn ropa efter bröd, och ingen är som dem det utskifter.
DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
5 De som tillförene åto det aldrakräseligaste, de försmäkta nu på gatomen; de som tillförene uppfödde voro i silke, de måste nu ligga i träck.
HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
6 Mins folks dotters synd är större, än Sodoms synd, den uti ett ögnablick omstört vardt, och ingen hand kom dervid.
VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
7 Hennes Nazareer voro renare än snö, och blankare än mjölk; deras färga var rödare än korall, deras anseende var som en saphir.
ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
8 Men nu är deras ansigte så förmörkradt af svarthet, att man icke känner dem på gatomen; deras hud låder intill deras ben, och äro så torre som ett trä.
HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
9 Dem dräpnom med svärd var bättre än dem som af hunger dödde, hvilke försmäkta och förgås måste för hungers skull.
TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [lack of] the fruits of the field.
10 De aldrabarmhertigasta qvinnorna måste koka sin egen barn; på det de skulle hafva dem till mats, uti mins folks dotters jämmer.
JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 Herren hafver fullkomnat sina grymhet, han hafver utgjutit sina grymma vrede; han hafver i Zion upptändt en eld, hvilken ock hans grundval upptärt hafver.
CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
12 Konungarna på jordene hade intet trott det, eller alla menniskor på verldene, att ovännen och fienden skulle igenom Jerusalems portar kommit.
LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Men det är skedt för hans Propheters synder, och för hans Presters missgerningars skull, hvilka derinne utgöto de rättfärdigas blod.
MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
14 De gingo hit och dit på gatomen, lika som blinde, och voro besölade i blod; och kunde ock ej komma vid deras kläder;
NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
15 Utan ropade till dem: Viker undan, I orene, viker, viker, kommer vid ingen ting; ty de skydde vid dem, och flydde för dem, så att man ock sade ibland Hedningarna: De blifva der icke länge.
SAMECH. Depart you from the unclean ones: call you them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yes, they stagger: say you among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
16 Derföre hafver Herrans vrede förstrött dem, och vill icke mer se uppå dem, efter de icke ärade Presterna, och icke voro barmhertige öfver de äldsta.
AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
17 Likväl gapade vår ögon efter fåfängelig hjelp, tilldess de trötte vordo, då vi vänte efter ett folk, som oss dock intet hjelpa kunde.
PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
18 Man jagade oss, så att vi icke gå torde på vårom gatom; då kom ock vår ände, våra dagar äro ute, vår ände är kommen.
We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn near, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
19 Våre förföljare voro snarare än örnar under himmelen; på bergomen hafva de förföljt oss, och i öknene vaktat efter oss.
Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
20 Herrans smorde, som vår tröst var, är fången vorden i deras kulor, då de oss förstörde, på hvilken vi tröste, att vi under hans skugga ibland Hedningarna lefva skulle.
RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.
21 Ja, fröjda dig, och var glad, du dotter Edom, som bor i Uz lande; ty kalken skall ock komma öfver dig; du måste också drucken och blottad varda.
CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwell in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to you: you shall be drunken, and pour forth.
22 Men din ondska hafver en ända, du dotter Zion; han skall icke mer låta bortföra dig; men dina ondsko, du dotter Edom, skall han hemsöka, och upptäcka dina synder.
THAU. O daughter of Sion, your iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry you captive: he has visited your iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered your sins.
