1 Och då Israels barn gjorde det ondt var för Herranom, gaf Herren dem under de Midianiters hand i sju år.
Forsothe the sones of Israel diden yuel in the `siyt of the Lord, and he bitook hem in the hond of Madian seuene yeer.
2 Och då de Midianiters hand vardt för stark öfver Israel, gjorde Israels barn sig klyfter i bergen, och kulor, och fäste.
And thei weren oppressid of hem greetly; and `thei maden dichis, and dennes to hem silf in hillis, and strongeste places to fiyte ayen.
3 Och när Israel något sådde, så kommo de Midianiter upp, och de Amalekiter, och de af österlanden;
And whanne Israel hadde sowe, Madian stiede, and Amalech, and othere of the `naciouns of the eest;
4 Och lägrade sig emot dem, och förderfvade växten på landet, allt intill Gasa, och läto ingen boskap blifva qvar i Israel, hvarken får, fä eller åsnar.
and thei settiden tentis at the sones of Israel, and wastiden alle thingis `as tho weren in eerbis, ethir grene corn, `til to the entryng of Gaza, and outirli thei leften not in Israel ony thing perteynynge to lijf, not scheep, not oxun, not assis.
5 Förty de kommo ditupp med sinom boskap och tjäll, såsom ett stort tal gräshoppor, så att hvarken de eller deras cameler stodo till att räkna; och de föllo in i landet, på det de skulle förderfva det.
For thei and alle her flockis camen with her tabernaclis, and at the licnesse of locustus thei filliden alle thingis, and a multitude of men and of camels was with out noumbre, and wastiden what euer thing thei touchiden.
6 Så vardt Israel mycket försvagad för de Midianiter. Då ropade Israels barn till Herran.
And Israel was `maad low greetli in the siyt of Madian.
7 Som de nu ropade till Herran, för de Midianiters skull,
And Israel criede to the Lord, `and axyde help ayens Madianytis; and he sente to hem a man,
8 Sände Herren till dem en Prophet; han sade till dem: Detta säger Herren Israels Gud: Jag hafver fört eder utur Egypten, och utu träldomens hus;
a profete, and he spak, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Y made you to stie fro Egipt, and Y ledde you out of the hows of seruage,
9 Och hafver frälst eder utu de Egyptiers hand, och utur alla deras hand, som eder tvingade, och hafver drifvit dem ut för eder, och gifvit eder deras land;
and Y delyueride you fro the hond of Egipcians, and of alle enemyes that turmentiden you; and Y castide hem out at youre entryng, and Y yaf to you `the lond of hem;
10 Och sade till eder: Jag är Herren edar Gud; frukter intet de Amoreers gudar, i hvilkas land I bon. Och I lydden mine röst intet.
and Y seide, Y am `youre Lord God; drede ye not the goddis of Ammorreis, in whose lond ye dwellen; and ye nolden here my vois.
11 Och en Herrans Ängel kom, och satte sig under ena ek i Ophra, hvilken Joas tillhörde, de Esriters fader; och hans son Gideon tröskade hvete i pressen, på det han skulle fly för de Midianiter.
Forsothe an aungel of the Lord cam, and sat undur an ook, that was in Effra, and perteynede to Joas, fadir of the meinee of Ezri. And whanne Gedeon, `his sone, threischide out, and purgide wheetis in a pressour,
12 Då syntes honom Herrans Ängel, och sade till honom: Herren vare med dig, du stridsamme hjelte.
that he schulde fle Madian, an aungel of the Lord apperide to hym, and seide, The Lord be with thee, thou strongeste of men.
13 Gideon sade till honom: Min Herre, är Herren med oss, hvi vederfars oss då allt detta? Och hvar äro all hans under, som våre fäder hafva förtäljt oss, och sagt: Herren hafver fört oss utur Egypten? Herren hafver nu öfvergifvit oss, och gifvit oss i de Midianiters händer.
And Gedeon seide to hym, My lord, Y biseche, if the Lord is with vs, whi therfor han alle these yuels take vs? Where ben the merueils of hym, whiche oure fadris telden, and seiden, The Lord ledde vs out of Egipt? `Now forsothe he hath forsake vs, and hath bitake vs in the hond of Madian.
14 Då vände Herren sig till honom, och sade: Gack åstad i denna dine kraft; du skall fria Israel utu de Midianiters händer; si, jag hafver sändt dig.
And the Lord bihelde to hym, and seide, Go thou in this strengthe of thee, and thou schalt delyuere Israel fro the hond of Madian; wite thou, that Y sente thee.
15 Han sade till honom: Min Herre, hvarmed skall jag fria Israel? Si, min slägt är den minsta i Manasse, och jag är den svagaste i mins faders hus.
Which Gedeon answeride, and seide, My lord, Y biseche, in what thing schal Y delyuere Israel? Lo! my meynee is the loweste in Manasses, and Y am the leeste in the hows of my fadir.
16 Herren sade till honom: Jag vill vara med dig, så att du skall slå de Midianiter, såsom en man.
And the Lord seide to hym, Y schal be with thee, and thou schalt smyte Madian as o man.
17 Men han sade till honom: Käre, hafver jag funnit nåd för dig, så gif mig ett tecken, att det är du, som talar med mig.
And Gedeon seide, If Y haue foundun grace bifor thee, yyue to me a signe, that thou, that spekist to me, art sente of Goddis part;
18 Gack icke hädan, tilldess jag kommer till dig, och bär mitt spisoffer, och lägger det för dig. Han sade: Jag vill blifva, tilldess du kommer igen.
go thou not `awei fro hennus, til Y turne ayen to thee, and brynge sacrifice, and offre to thee. Whiche answeride, Y schal abide thi comyng.
19 Och Gideon gick, och slagtade ett kid, och tog ett epha osyradt mjöl; och lade kött uti en korg, och lät sådet uti ena kruko, och bar ut till honom under ekena, och gick fram.
And so Gedeon entride, and sethide a kide, and took therf looues of a buyschel of mell, and fleischis in a panyere; and he sente the broth of fleischis in a pot, and bar alle thingis vndur an ook, and offride to hym.
20 Men Guds Ängel sade till honom: Tag köttet, och det osyrada, och lägg det på hälleberget, som här är, och gjut sådet ut. Och han gjorde så.
To whom the aungel of the Lord seide, Take thou the fleischis, and therf looues, and putte on that stoon, and schede the broth aboue. And whanne he hadde do so,
21 Då räckte Herrans Ängel käppen ut, som han hade i handene, och kom vid köttet och det osyrada mjölet med käppsändanom; och elden kom utu hällebergena, och förtärde köttet och det osyrada mjölet. Och Herrans Ängel försvann utu hans ögon.
the aungel of the Lord helde forth the `ende of the yerde which he helde in the hond, and he touchide the fleischis, and the therf looues; and fier stiede fro the stoon, and wastide the fleischis, and therf looues. Forsothe the aungel of the Lord vanyschide fro hise iyen.
22 Då nu Gideon såg, att det var en Herrans Ängel, sade han: O! Herre, Herre, hafver jag nu sett en Herrans Ängel ansigte mot ansigte?
And Gedeon siy that he was `an aungel of the Lord, and seide, Lord God, alas to me, for Y siy the aungel of the Lord face to face.
23 Men Herren sade till honom: Frid vare med dig; frukta dig intet, du skall icke dö.
And the Lord seide to hym, Pees be with thee; drede thou not, thou schalt not die.
24 Då byggde Gideon dersammastäds Herranom ett altare, och kallade det fridsens Herre. Det står der ännu på denna dag, i Ophra, de Esriters faders.
Therfor Gedeon bildide there an auter to the Lord, and he clepide it the Pees of the Lord, `til in to present dai. And whanne he was yit in Effra, which is of the meynee of Ezri, the Lord seide to hym in that nyyt,
25 Och i den samma nattene sade Herren till honom: Tag en stut ibland oxarna, som dinom fader tillhöra, och en annan stut som sju åra gammal är, och slå sönder Baals altare, som är dins faders, och hugg bort den lunden, som der när står.
Take thou `the bole of thy fadir, and anothir bole of seuene yeer, and thou schalt distrie the auter of Baal, which is thi fadris, and kitte thou doun the wode, which is aboute the auter;
26 Och bygg Herranom dinom Gud ett altare öfverst på desso hällebergena, och red det till; och tag den andra stuten, och offra ett bränneoffer, med veden af lundenom, som du borthuggit hafver.
and thou schalt bilde an auter to thi Lord God in the hiynesse of this stoon, on which thou puttidist sacrifice bifore; and thou schalt take the secounde bole, and thou schalt offre brent sacrifice on the heep of trees, whiche thou kittidist doun of the wode.
27 Då tog Gideon tio män utaf sina tjenare, och gjorde såsom Herren honom sagt hade; men han fruktade sig göra det om dagen, för sins faders hus skull, och för folkens skull i stadenom; utan om nattena gjorde han det.
Therfore Gedeon took ten men of hise seruauntis, and dide as the Lord comaundide to hym. Sotheli Gedeon dredde the hows of his fadir, and the men of that citee, and nolde do bi dai, but fillide alle thingis bi nyyt.
28 Då nu folket i staden stodo upp bittida om morgonen, si, då var Baals altare sönderslaget, och lunden der när afhuggen; och den andre stuten för ett bränneoffer lagd på det altaret, som uppbygdt var.
And whanne men of that citee hadde rise eerly, thei sien the auter of Baal distried, and the wode kit doun, and the tothir bole put on the auter, that was bildid thanne.
29 Och den ene sade till den andra: Ho hafver detta gjort? Och då de sökte, och frågade derefter, vardt sagdt: Gideon, Joas son, hafver det gjort.
And thei seiden togidere, Who hath do this? And whanne thei enqueriden the doer of the deed, it was seid, Gedeon, the sone of Joas, dide alle these thingis.
30 Då talade folket i staden till Joas: Få oss hitut din son; han måste dö, derföre, att han hafver omkullslagit Baals altare, och afhuggit lunden der när.
And thei seiden to Joas, Brynge forth thi sone hidur, that he die, for he distriede the auter of Baal, and kittide doun the wode.
31 Men Joas sade till alla dem som när honom stodo: Viljen I lägga eder ut för Baal? Viljen I fria honom? Den som lägger sig ut för honom, han skall dö i denna morgon. Är han gud, så hämne sig sjelf, att hans altare omkullslaget är.
To whiche he answeride, Whether ye ben the venieris of Baal, that ye fiyte for hym? he that is aduersarie of hym, die, bifor that the `liyt of the morew dai come; if he is God, venge he hym silf of hym that castide doun his auter.
32 Ifrå den dagen kallade man honom JerubBaal, och sade: Baal hämne sig sjelf, att hans altare omkullslaget är.
Fro that dai Gedeon was clepid Gerobaal, for Joas hadde seid, Baal take veniaunce of hym that castide doun his auter.
33 Då församlade sig tillhopa de Midianiter och Amalekiter, och de österländningar, och drogo öfver, och lägrade sig i den dalen Jisreel.
Therfor al Madian, and Amalech, and the puplis of the eest weren gadirid to gidere, and passiden Jordan, and settiden tentis in the valey of Jezrael.
34 Så iklädde Herrans Ande Gideon, och han lät blåsa i basuner, och kallade AbiEser, att de skulle följa honom;
Forsothe the spirit of the Lord clothide Gedeon; `and he sownede with a clarioun, and clepide to gidere the hows of Abiezer, that it schulde sue hym.
35 Och sände bådskap i hela Manasse, och kallade dem, att de skulle ock följa honom; han sände ock bådskap till Asser, och Sebulon, och Naphthali; de kommo upp emot honom.
And he sente messangeris in to al Manasses, and he suede Gedeon; and he sente othere messangeris in to Aser, and Zabulon, and Neptalym, whiche camen to hym.
36 Och Gideon sade till Gud: Vill du frälsa Israel igenom mina hand, såsom du sagt hafver,
And Gedeon seide to the Lord, If thou makist saaf Israel bi myn hond, as thou hast spoke,
37 Så vill jag lägga ett skinn med ullone ut på logan; om daggen lägger sig allenast på skinnet, och all marken är torr, så kan jag märka, att du vill frälsa Israel igenom mina hand, såsom du sagt hafver.
Y schal putte this flees of wolle in the corn floor; if dew is in the flees aloone, and drynesse is in al the erthe, Y schal wite, that thou schalt delyuere Israel bi myn hond, as thou hast spoke.
38 Och det skedde så. Och då han den andra morgonen bittida uppstod, tryckte han daggena utu skinnet, och uppfyllde ena skål med det vattnet.
And it was don so. And he roos bi nyyt, and whanne the flees was wrongun out, he fillide a pot with deew;
39 Och Gideon sade till Gud: Din vrede förgrymme sig icke öfver mig, om jag än en tid talar; jag vill än en tid försökat med skinnet; vare nu allena torrt på skinnena, och daggen på allo markene.
and he seide eft to the Lord, Thi strong veniaunce be not wrooth ayens me, if Y asaie, `that is, axe a signe, yit onys, and seke a signe in the flees; Y preye, that the flees aloone be drie, and al the erthe be moist with deew.
40 Gud gjorde ock så i samma natt, att allena var torrt på skinnet, och dagg uppå allo markene.
And the Lord dide in that nyyt, as Gedeon axide; and drynesse was in the flees aloone, and deew was in al the erthe.
