Josua 14

1 Detta är nu det som Israels barn intogo i Canaans lande, hvilket dem emellan utskifte Presten Eleazar och Josua, Nuns son, och de öfverste fäder i Israels barnas slägter.

And these [are] they [of] the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

2 Och de skifte det emellan sig med lott, såsom Herren budit hade genom Mose, att gifva de halftionde slägter.

by lot [is] their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;

3 Ty de två slägterna, och den halfva, hade Mose gifvit arfvedel hinsidon Jordan; men Leviterna hade han ingen arfvedel gifvit ibland dem.

for Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;

4 Ty Josephs barn vordo två slägter, Manasse och Ephraim; derföre gåfvo de Leviterna ingen del i landena, utan städer, der de skulle bo uti, och förstäder för deras boskap, och håfvor.

for the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions;

5 Såsom Herren hade budit Mose, så gjorde Israels barn, och skifte landet.

as Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land.

6 Då gingo Juda barn fram till Josua i Gilgal; och Caleb, Jephunne son, den Kenisiten, sade till honom: Du vetst hvad Herren sade till den Guds mannen Mose, på mina och dina vägnar, i KadesBarnea.

And the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, 'Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:

7 Jag var fyratio åra gammal, när Mose Herrans tjenare mig utsände ifrå KadesBarnea, till att bespeja landet; och jag sade honom igen efter mitt samvet.

a son of forty years [am] I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

8 Men mine bröder, som med mig uppgångne voro, gjorde folkena ett förskräckt hjerta; men jag följde Herran min Gud troliga efter.

and my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;

9 Då svor Mose på den samma dagen, och sade: Det landet, som du på trädt hafver med din fot, skall vara din och dina barnas arfvedel till evig tid; derföre, att du Herran min Gud troliga efterföljt hafver.

and Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not — the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons — to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.

10 Och nu, si, Herren hafver låtit mig lefva, såsom han sagt hade; det är nu fem och fyratio år, sedan Herren detta sade till Mose, då Israel vandrade i öknene; och si, jag är nu på denna dag fem och åttatio åra gammal;

'And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I [am] to-day a son of five and eighty years;

11 Och är ännu i dag så stark, som jag var på den dagen, då Mose sände mig ut; såsom min magt var på den tiden, så är hon ännu, till att strida och till att gå ut och in.

yet [am] I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

12 Så gif mig nu detta berget, om hvilket Herren sade på den dagen; ty du hörde det på den tiden, att de Enakim bo deruppå, och äro store och faste städer, om Herren ville vara med mig, att jag kunde fördrifva dem, såsom Herren sagt hafver.

'And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim [are] there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah [is] with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.'

13 Då välsignade Josua honom, och gaf så Caleb, Jephunne son, Hebron till arfvedel.

And Joshua blesseth him, and giveth Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,

14 Deraf vardt Hebron Calebs, Jephunne sons, den Kenisitens arfvedel, allt intill denna dag; derföre, att han hade troliga efterföljt Herran Israels Gud.

therefore hath Hebron been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance unto this day, because that he was fully after Jehovah, God of Israel;

15 Men Hebron kallades i förtiden KiriathArba, den en stor man var ibland de Enakim. Och landet hade återvändt örliga.

and the name of Hebron formerly [is] Kirjath-Arba (he [is] the great man among the Anakim); and the land hath rest from war.
