Job 36
1 Elihu talade ytterligare, och sade:
Elihu also proceeded, and said:
2 Töfva ännu litet, jag vill visa dig det; ty jag hafver ännu på Guds vägnar något säga.
Bear with me a little while, that I may show thee! For I have yet words in behalf of God.
3 Jag vill hemta mitt förstånd fjerranefter, och bevisa, att min skapare är rättvis.
I will bring my knowledge from afar, And assert the justice of my Maker.
4 Mitt tal skall utan tvifvel intet falskt vara; mitt förstånd skall utan fel vara för dig.
Truly my words shall not be false: A man of sound knowledge is before thee.
5 Si, Gud förkastar icke de mägtiga; ty han är ock mägtig af hjertans kraft.
Behold, God is great, but despiseth not any; Great is he in strength of understanding.
6 Den ogudaktiga bevarar han icke; utan hjelper den arma till rätta.
He suffereth not the wicked to prosper, But rendereth justice to the oppressed.
7 Han vänder icke sin ögon ifrå den rättfärdiga; och Konungarna låter han sitta på stolenom i evig tid, att de höge blifva.
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous; But establisheth them for ever with kings on the throne, That they may be exalted.
8 Och om fångar ligga i bojor, och bundne med tåg jämmerliga,
And if they be bound in fetters, And holden in the cords of affliction,
9 Så gifver han dem tillkänna hvad de gjort hafva; och deras odygd, att de hafva brukat våld;
Then showeth he them their deeds, And how they have set him at defiance by their transgressions;
10 Och öppnar dem örat till tuktan, och säger dem, att de skola omvända sig ifrå det orätt är.
He also openeth their ears to admonition, And commandeth them to return from iniquity.
11 Om de höra och tjena honom, så skola de i godom dagom gamle varda, och lefva med lust.
If they obey and serve him, They spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.
12 Höra de icke, så skola de falla för svärd, och förgås förr än de varda det varse.
But if they obey not, they perish by the sword; They die in their own folly.
13 De skrymtare, när vreden kommer uppå dem, ropa de intet, när de fångne ligga;
The corrupt in heart treasure up wrath; They cry not to God, when he bindeth them.
14 Så skall deras själ dö med qval, och deras lif ibland bolare.
They die in their youth; They close their lives with the unclean.
15 Men den arma skall han, hjelpa utu hans armod, och öppnar dem arma örat i bedröfvelsen.
But he delivereth the poor in their distress; He openeth their ears in affliction.
16 Han skall taga dig utur ångestens vida mun, den ingen botten hafver, och ditt bord skall hafva ro, uppfyldt med allt godt.
He will bring thee also from the jaws of distress To a broad place, where is no straitness; And the provision of thy table shall be full of fatness.
17 Men du gör de ogudaktigas sak godan, så att deras sak och rätt blifver behållen.
But if thou art full of the judgment of the wicked, Judgment and justice shall take hold of thee.
18 Se till, om icke otålighet hafver rört dig i qvalena; eller stora gåfvor icke hafva böjt dig.
For if wrath be with him, beware lest he take thee away by his stroke, So that a great ransom shall not save thee!
19 Menar du, att din väldighet skall bestå kunna utan bedröfvelse; eller eljest någon starkhet eller förmåga?
Will he esteem thy riches? No! neither thy gold, nor all the abundance of thy wealth.
20 Du torf icke begära nattena till att öfverfalla menniskorna i deras rum.
Long not thou for that night To which nations are taken away from their place.
21 Vakta dig, och vänd dig icke till det orätt är, såsom du för jämmers skull dig företagit hafver.
Take heed, turn not thine eyes to iniquity! For this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22 Si, Gud är för hög i sine kraft; ho är en lagförare såsom han är?
Behold, God is exalted in his power: Who is a teacher like him?
23 Ho vill hemsöka öfver honom hans väg? Och ho vill säga till honom: Du gör orätt?
Who hath prescribed to him his way? Or who can say to him, “Thou hast done wrong”?
24 Tänk uppå, att du intet vetst hans verk, såsom menniskorna sjunga.
Forget not to magnify his work, Which men celebrate with songs.
25 Ty alla menniskor se det, menniskorna se det fjerran.
All mankind gaze upon it; Mortals behold it from afar.
26 Si, Gud är stor och okänd; hans åratal kan ingen utfråga.
Behold, God is great; we cannot know him, Nor search out the number of his years.
27 Han gör vattnet till små droppar, och drifver sina skyar samman till regn;
Lo! he draweth up the drops of water, Which distil rain from his vapor;
28 Så att skyarna flyta, och drypa fast uppå menniskorna.
The clouds pour it down, And drop it upon man in abundance.
29 Då han tager sig före att skingra sina skyar, och tager sitt täckelse bort;
Who can understand the spreading of his clouds, And the rattling of his pavilion?
30 Si, så utbreder han sitt ljus öfver dem, och öfvertäcker hafvet, dädan de komma.
Behold, he spreadeth around himself his light, And he clotheth himself with the depths of the sea.
31 Ty dermed dömer han folket, och gifver dem mat tillfyllest.
By these he punisheth nations, And by these he giveth food in abundance.
32 Han håller händerna före, och betäcker ljuset, och bjuder thy, att det skall igenkomma.
His hands he covereth with lightning; He giveth it commandment against an enemy.
33 Om det samma förkunnar hans herde, och hans boskap om skyn.
His thunder maketh him known; Yea, to the herds, as he ascendeth on high.
