Job 18
1 Då svarade Bildad af Suah, och sade:
Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
2 När viljen I göra en ända på att tala? Akter dock till; sedan vilje vi tala.
When will ye at length put an end to words? Come to an understanding, and afterward let us speak.
3 Hvi varde vi aktade ( för dig ) såsom oskälig djur, och äre så orene för edor ögon?
For what cause are we counted as beasts, reputed stupid your eyes?
4 Vill du brista för hätskhets skull? Menar du, att för dina skull skall jorden öfvergifven varda, och hälleberget utaf sitt rum försatt varda?
Thou, the one that teareth himself to pieces in his anger— shall for thy sake the earth be forsaken, and the rock be moved away out of its place?
5 Och skall dens ogudaktigas ljus utslockna, och gnistan af hans eld skall intet lysa.
Ah, truly the light of the wicked will be quenched, and the spark of his fire shall not give light.
6 Ljuset i hans hyddo skall varda till mörker, och hans lykta öfver honom skall utsläckt varda.
The light becometh dark in his tent, and his lamp will be quenched above him.
7 Hans håfvors tillgångar skola varda trånga, och hans anslag skall fela honom;
His powerful steps will be narrowed, and his own counsel will cast him down.
8 Ty han är med sina fötter förd i snarona, och vandrar i nätet.
For he is driven into the net by his own feet, and he taketh his walk upon a snare.
9 En snara skall hålla hans häl, och de törstige skola få fatt på honom.
The trap will seize him by the heel, and the robber will prevail over him.
10 Hans snara är lagd på jordene, och hans gildre på hans stig.
The cord is hidden for him in the ground, and a trap is set for him on the pathway.
11 På alla sidor skola hastig förfärelse förskräcka honom, så att han icke skall veta hvartut han skall.
All around do terrors scare him, and chase him as he walketh along.
12 Hunger skall blifva hans håfvor, och uselhet skall blifva honom tillredd, och hänga vid honom.
His first-born will suffer hunger, and calamity will be ready for his wife.
13 Hans huds starkhet skall förtärd varda, och hans starkhet skall dödsens Förste förtära.
It will devour the limbs of his body: yea, the first-born of death will devour his limbs.
14 Hans tröst skall utrotas utu hans hyddo, och de skola drifva honom till förskräckelsens Konung.
Then will be plucked up out of his tent his confidence, and [the evil] will urge him forward to the king of terrors.
15 Uti hans hyddo skall intet blifva; öfver hans palats skall svafvel strödt varda.
It will dwell in his tent, because it is no more his: there will be strewed sulphur on his habitation.
16 Nedantill skola hans rötter förtorkas, och ofvanuppå afskäras hans säd.
Beneath, his roots will be dried up, and above will his boughs he cut away.
17 Hans åminnelse skall förgås i landena, och skall intet namn hafva på gatone.
His resemblance vanisheth from the earth, and no name remaineth for him in the streets.
18 Han skall fördrifven varda ifrå ljusena i mörkret, och af jordene bortkastad varda.
Men will thrust him out from light into darkness, and out of the world will they drive him.
19 Han skall ingen barn hafva, och ingen barnabarn i sin folk; honom skall ingen qvar blifva i hans slägt.
He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any that escapeth in the places of his sojourning.
20 De som efter honom komma, skola gifva sig öfver hans dag; och dem, som för honom äro, skall fruktan uppå komma.
Because of his [calamitous] day are they that come after him astonished, and they that went before are seized with shuddering.
21 Detta är dens orättfärdigas boning; och detta är rummet till honom, som intet vet af Gudi.
Yea, such are the dwellings of the unjust, and this is the place of one that knew not God.
