Jeremia 48

1 Emot Moab. Så säger Herren Zebaoth, Israels Gud: Ve dem stadenom Nebo; ty han är förstörd, och ligger ömkeliga; Kiriathaim är vunnen, fästet står ömkeliga, och är nederrifvet.

Concerning Moab, thus saith ye Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Woe vnto Nebo: for it is wasted: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and afraide.

2 Moabs tröst är ute, den han af Hesbon hade; ty man hafver något ondt i tankanom emot honom, nämliga: Kommer, vi vilje utrota honom, att han intet folk mer vara skall; och du, Madmen, måste ock förderfvad varda, svärdet skall efter dig komma.

Moab shall boast no more of Heshbon: for they haue deuised euill against it. Come, and let vs destroy it, that it be no more a nation: also thou shalt be destroyed, O Madmen, and the sworde shall pursue thee.

3 Man hörer ett rop i Horonaim, om förderfvelse och stor jämmer.

A voyce of crying shall be from Horonaim with desolation and great destruction.

4 Moab är nederslagen; man hörer hans unga barn ropa;

Moab is destroyed: her litle ones haue caused their crie to be heard.

5 Ty de gå gråtande den vägen upp åt Luhit, och fienderna höra ett Jämmerrop på den vägen neder ifrå Horonaim;

For at the going vp of Luhith, the mourner shall goe vp with weeping: for in the going downe of Horonaim, the enemies haue heard a cry of destruction,

6 Nämliga: Skynder eder bort, och undsätter edart lif; men du skall vara såsom ljung i öknene.

Flee and saue your liues, and be like vnto the heath in the wildernesse.

7 Derföre, att du förlätst dig uppå dina byggning, och uppå dina håfvor, skall du ock vunnen varda. Och Chemos måste ut, och draga sin väg fången, samt med sina Prester och Förstar.

For because thou hast trusted in thy workes and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken, and Chemosh shall goe forth into captiuitie with his Priestes and his princes together.

8 Ty förderfvaren skall komma öfver alla städerna, att icke en stad undslippa skall; der skola både dalarna förderfvas, och slättmarken förstörd varda; ty Herren hafver det sagt.

And the destroyer shall come vpon all cities, and no citie shall escape: the valley also shall perish and the plaine shalbe destroyed as the Lord hath spoken.

9 Käre, låter Moab blomstras; han skall utblomstrat hafva, och hans städer skola öde ligga, att der ingen uti bo skall.

Giue wings vnto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shalbe desolate, without any to dwell therein.

10 Förbannad vare den som Herrans verk gör försummeliga; förbannad vare den som sitt svärd upphåller, att det intet blod utgjuter.

Cursed be he that doeth the worke of the Lord negligently, and cursed be he that keepeth backe his sword from blood.

11 Moab hafver af sinom ungdom varit säker, och hafver på sine drägg stilla legat, och hafver icke någon tid varit ugjuten af det ena fatet uti det andra, och icke någon tid bortfarit uti fängelse; derföre är honom hans smak qvarblifven, och hans lukt hafver intet förvandlat sig.

Moab hath bene at rest from his youth, and he hath setled on his lees, and hath not bene powred from vessell to vessell, neither hath he gone into captiuitie: therefore his taste remained in him and his sent is not changed.

12 Derföre, si, säger Herren, den tiden kommer, att jag skall sända honom uttappare, som honom uttappa skola, och göra hans fat tom, och sönderslå, hans läglar.

Therefore beholde, the dayes come, saith the Lord, that I will send vnto him such as shall carie him away, and shall emptie his vessels, and breake their bottels.

13 Och Moab skall öfver Chemos till skam varda, lika som Israels hus öfver BethEl till skam vordet är, der de dock förläto sig uppå.

And Moab shalbe ashamed of Chemosh as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.

14 Huru djerfvens I säga: Vi äre hjeltar och de rätte krigsmän;

Howe thinke you thus, We are mightie and strong men of warre?

15 Ändock Moab måste förstörd varda, och hans städer bestegne, och hans bäste män måste nedergå till att dräpas? säger Konungen, som heter Herren Zebaoth.

Moab is destroyed, and his cities burnt vp, and his chose yong men are gone downe to slaughter, saith ye King, whose name is ye Lord of hostes.

16 Ty Moabs ofärd varder snart kommandes, och hans olycka skall väl hasta sig.

The destruction of Moab is ready to come, and his plague hasteth fast.

17 Käre, hafver dock medlidande med honom, I som omkring honom bon, och hans namn kännen, och sägen: Huru är det starka riset och den härlige stafven så sönderbruten?

All ye that are about him, mourne for him, and all ye that knowe his name, say, Howe is the strong staffe broken, and the beautifull rod!

18 Stig neder af härlighetene, du dotter som i Dibon bor, och sätt dig på det torra; ty Moabs föfderfvare skall komma upp till dig, och sönderbryta din fäste.

Thou daughter that doest inhabite Dibon, come downe from thy glory, and sit in thirst: for the destroyer of Moab shall come vpon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holdes.

19 Gack in på vägen, och se till, du inbyggerska i Aroer; fråga dem som flydde och undsluppne äro, och säg: Huru går det?

Thou that dwellest in Aroer, stand by the way, and beholde: aske him that fleeth and that escapeth, and say, What is done?

20 Ack! Moab är förödd och förderfvad; jämrer eder, och roper, förkunner det i Arnon, att Moab förderfvad är.

Moab is cofouded: for it is destroied: howle, and cry, tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is made waste,

21 Straffet är gånget öfver slättmarkena, nämliga öfver Holon, Jahza, Mephaath,

And iudgement is come vpon the plaine countrey, vpon Holon and vpon Iahazah, and vpon Mephaath,

22 Dibon, Nebo, BethDiblathaim,

And vpon Dibon, and vpon Nebo, and vpon the house of Diblathaim,

23 Kiriathaim, BethGamul, BethMeon,

And vpon Kiriathaim, and vpon Beth-gamul, and vpon Beth-meon,

24 Kirioth, Bozra, och öfver alla de städer i Moabs land, ehvad de ligga fjerran eller när.

And vpon Kerioth, and vpon Bozrah, and vpon all the cities of ye land of Moab farre or neere.

25 Moabs horn är afhugget, och hans arm är sönderbruten, säger Herren.

The horne of Moab is cut off, and his arme is broken, saith the Lord.

26 Gör honom drucknan, ty han hafver upphäfvit sig emot Herran, att han må spy sig, och vrida händerna, på det han ock må till spott varda.

Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himselfe against the Lord: Moab shall wallowe in his vomite, and he also shalbe in derision.

27 Ty Israel hafver varit ditt gabberi, lika som han hade varit funnen ibland tjufvar; och efter du sådant emot honom talat hafver, måste du ock bortföras.

For diddest not thou deride Israel, as though he had bene found among theeues? for when thou speakest of him, thou art moued.

28 O! I Moabs inbyggare, öfvergifver städerna, och bor uti bergklippomen, och görer likasom dufvorna, som bo högt upp i hålen.

O ye that dwell in Moab, leaue the cities, and dwell in the rockes, and be like the doue, that maketh her nest in the sides of the holes mouth.

29 Man hafver ju alltid sagt om den stolta Moab, att han fast stolt är, högfärdig, högmodig, trotsig och storsinnad.

We haue heard the pride of Moab (hee is exceeding proude) his stoutnesse, and his arrogancie, and his pride, and the hautinesse of his heart.

30 Men Herren säger: Jag känner väl hans vrede, att han icke så mycket förmår, och tager sig före att göra mer än i hans magt är.

I know his wrath, saith ye Lord, but it shall not be so: and his dissimulatios, for they do not right.

31 Derföre måste jag jämra mig öfver Moab, och ropa öfver hela Moab, och sörja öfver det folk i Kirheres.

Therefore will I howle for Moab, and I will crie out for all Moab: mine heart shall mourne for the men of Kir-heres.

32 Jag måste gråta öfver dig, Jaeser, du vingård i Sibma; ty dine vinqvistar äro farne öfver hafvet, och komne intill Jaesers haf; förderfvaren är fallen in uti dina säd och vinhemtning.

O vine of Sibmah, I will weepe for thee, as I wept for Iazer: thy plants are gone ouer the sea, they are come to the sea of Iazer: ye destroyer is fallen vpon thy somer fruites, and vpon thy vintage,

33 Fröjd och glädje är borto af markene, och af Moabs land, och man skall intet vin mer pressa der, vintramparen skall intet; mer sjunga sina viso,

And ioye, and gladnesse is taken from the plentifull fielde, and from the land of Moab: and I haue caused wine to faile from the winepresse: none shall treade with shouting: their shouting shall be no shouting.

34 För det ropets skull i Hesbon, allt in till Eleale, hvilket man hörer intill Jahza, ifrå Zoar den treggaårs kona, intill Horonaim; ty Nimrims vatten skola ock uttorkas.

From the cry of Heshbon vnto Elaleh and vnto Iahaz haue they made their noyse from Zoar vnto Horonaim, ye heiffer of three yere old shall go lowing: for ye waters also of Nimrim shalbe wasted.

35 Och jag skall, säger Herren, i Moab dermed en ända göra, att de icke mer skola offra på höjderna, och röka sinom gudom.

Moreouer, I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the Lord, him that offered in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

36 Derföre ryter mitt hjerta öfver Moab, lika som en trummete, och öfver det folk i Kirheres ryter mitt hjerta, såsom en trummete; ty de hafva fast förtagit sig, derföre måste de förgås.

Therefore mine heart shall sounde for Moab like a shaume, and mine heart shall sound like a shaume for the men of Ker-heres, because the riches that he hath gotten, is perished.

37 All hufvud skola varda kullot, och allt skägg afrakadt; alla händer skola refna varda, och hvar man skall draga säcker uppå.

For euery head shalbe balde, and euery beard plucked: vpon all the handes shall be cuttings, and vpon the loynes sackecloth.

38 På all tak och gator allestäds i Moab skall man gråta; ty Jag hafver sönderslagit Moab, likasom ett onyttigt fat, säger Herren.

And mourning shall be vpon all the house toppes of Moab and in all the streetes thereof: for I haue broken Moab like a vessell wherein is no pleasure, sayeth the Lord.

39 O! huru är han förderfvad, hum jämrar han sig, huru skamliga hänger han hufvudet; och Moab är vorden till spott och till en förskräckelse allom dem som deromkring bo.

They shall howle, saying, How is he destroyed? howe hath Moab turned the backe with shame? so shall Moab be a derision, and a feare to all them about him.

40 Ty så säger Herren: Si, han flyger bortåt, såsom en örn, och uträcker sina vingar öfver Moab.

For thus saith the Lord, Beholde, he shall flee as an eagle, and shall spread his wings ouer Moab.

41 Kiriath är vunnen, och de fasta städer äro intagne, och de hjeltars hjerta i Moab skall på den tiden vara lika som ene qvinnos hjerta i barnsnöd;

The cities are taken, and the strong holdes are wonne, and ye mightie mens hearts in Moab at that day shalbe as ye heart of a woman in trauaile.

42 Ty Moab måste förderfvad varda, så att han intet folk mer vara skall, derföre att han hafver förhäfvit sig emot Herran.

And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath set vp himselfe against the Lord.

43 Fruktan, kula och snara kommer öfver dig, du inbyggare i Moab, säger Herren.

Feare, and pit and snare shall be vpon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the Lord.

44 Den som fruktan undkommer, han skall falla uti kulona, och den utu kulone kommer, han skall varda fången i snarone; då skall jag låta komma öfver Moab hans hemsöknings år, säger Herren.

He that escapeth from the feare, shall fall in the pit, and he that getteth vp out of the pit, shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring vpon it, euen vpon Moab, the yeere of their visitation, sayeth the Lord.

45 De som undlöpa utu slagtningene, skola söka tillflykt i Hesbon; men en eld skall gå utaf Hesbon, och en låge utaf Sihon, hvilken de rum i Moab och det stridsamma folket förtära skall.

They that fled, stoode vnder the shadowe of Heshbon, because of the force: for the fire came out of Heshbon, and a flame from Sihon, and deuoured the corner of Moab, and the top of the seditious children.

46 Ve dig, Moab, förloradt är Chemos folk; ty man hafver tagit dina söner och döttrar, och fört dem bort fångna.

Wo be vnto thee, O Moab: the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sonnes are taken captiues, and thy daughters led into captiuitie.

47 Men uti tillkommande tid skall jag omvända Moabs fängelse, säger Herren. Det vare nu sagdt om straffet öfver Moab.

Yet will I bring againe the captiuitie of Moab in the latter dayes, sayeth the Lord. Thus farre of the iudgement of Moab.
