Jeremia 19

1 Så sade Herren: Gack bort, och köp dig ena lerkruko af krukomakarenom, samt med några af de äldsta i folket, och de äldsta för Presterna;

Thus saith Jehovah: Go and buy an earthen bottle of the potter, And take with thee the elders of the people, And the elders of the priests,

2 Och gack bort uti Hinnoms sons dal, som ligger för tegelportenom, och predika der de ord, som jag säger dig;

And go forth to the valley of the son of Hinnom, At the entrance of the pottery-gate, And proclaim there the words Which I shall speak to thee.

3 Och säg: Hörer Herrans ord, I Juda Konungar, och Jerusalems inbyggare: Så säger Herren Zebaoth, Israels Gud: Si, jag vill låta en sådana olycko komma öfver detta rummet, att den det hörer, honom skall gälla i öronen;

Say, Hear the word of Jehovah, Ye kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am about to bring such an evil upon this place, That whoever heareth of it, his ears shall tingle.

4 Derföre, att de hafva öfvergifvit mig, och gifvit detta rummet enom främmande gud, och rökt deruti androm gudom, hvilka hvarken de, eller deras fäder, eller Juda Konungar känt hafva, och hafva gjort detta rummet fullt med oskyldigt blod.

For they have forsaken me, And have alienated this place, And have burned incense in it to strange gods, Which neither they, nor their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known, And have filled this place with the blood of innocent children,

5 Ty de hafva byggt höjder till Baal, till att uppbränna sin barn Baal, till bränneoffer, hvilket jag dem hvarken budit eller derom talat hafver, och ej heller någon tid uti mitt hjerta kommet är.

And have built high places to Baal, To burn their sons in the fire for burnt-offerings to Baal; Which I ordained not, and commanded not, And which never came into my mind.

6 Derföre si, den tid varder kommandes, säger Herren, att man detta rummet inte mer kalla skall Thopheth, eller Hinnoms sons dal, utan dråpodal.

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, saith Jehovah, When this place shall no more be called Tophet, Nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, But the valley of Slaughter.

7 Ty jag skall förstöra Juda och Jerusalems Gudstjenst i desso rummena, och skall låta dem falla genom svärd för deras fiendar, och deras hand, som efter deras lif stå; och skall gifva deras kroppar foglarna under himmelen, och djuren på markene till mat;

For I will in this place bring to naught the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, And I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, And by the hands of them that seek their lives; And their dead bodies will I give for food To the birds of heaven and the beasts of the earth.

8 Och skall göra denna staden öde, och till spott, så att alle de, som gå der fram, skola förundra uppå alla hans plågor, och bespotta honom.

And I will make this city a wonder and a hissing; Every one that passeth by it shall wonder and hiss, On account of all its plagues.

9 Jag skall låta dem äta sina söners och döttrars kött, och en skall äta dens andras kött, uti den nöd och ångest, dermed deras fiender, och de, som efter deras lif stå, dem tränga skola.

For I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and of their daughters, Yea, the flesh of each other shall they eat, In the straitness and the distress With which their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall press them.

10 Och du skall sönderslå krukona för de män, som med dig gångne äro.

Then break thou the bottle Before the eyes of the men that go with thee.

11 Och säg till dem: Detta säger Herren Zebaoth: Rätt så som man sönderslår en krukomakares käril, så att det icke kan igen helt varda, så skall jag ock sönderkrossa detta folk och denna stad, och skola i Thopheth begrafne varda, derföre, att der skall eljest intet rum vara till begrafning.

And say to them: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, As one breaks a potter's vessel which cannot be made whole again; And they shall be buried in Tophet, till there is no room to bury.

12 Så vill jag göra med desso rummena, och dess inbyggare, säger Herren, att denne staden skall varda lika som Thopheth.

Thus will I do to this place and to its inhabitants, saith Jehovah, And I will make this city itself like Tophet;

13 Dertill skola de hus i Jerusalem, och Juda Konungars hus, ju så oren varda, som det rummet Thopheth, ja, all hus, der de på, taken allom himmelens här rökt hafva, och androm gudom drickoffer offrat hafva.

And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be unclean, like the place of Tophet, All the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, And poured out drink-offerings to strange gods.

14 Och då Jeremia, igenkom ifrå Thopheth, dit Herren honom sändt hade, till att prophetera, gick han in i gården åt Herrans hus, och sade till allt folket:

Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, Whither Jehovah had sent him to prophesy, And stood in the court of the house of Jehovah, And said to all the people:

15 Detta säger Herren Zebaoth, Israels Gud: Si, jag skall låta komma öfver denna staden, och öfver alla hans städer, all den olycko, som jag emot dem talat hafver; derföre, att de äro halsstyfve, och min ord intet höra vilja.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am about to bring upon this city, and upon all the cities belonging to it, All the evil which I have pronounced against it; For they have made their necks stiff, And refused to hearken to my words.
