1 Mosebok 42

1 Men då Jacob såg, att säd var fal i Egypten, sade han till sina söner: Hvi sen I icke till?

Then Iaakob saw that there was foode in Egypt, and Iaakob said vnto his sonnes, Why gaze ye one vpon an other?

2 Si, jag hörer, att uti Egypten är säd nog, farer der ned, och köper oss säd, att vi må lefva och icke dö.

And he said, Behold, I haue heard that there is foode in Egypt, Get you downe thither, and bie vs foode thence, that we may liue and not die.

3 Så foro då tio Josephs bröder ned, att de skulle köpa säd i Egypten.

So went Iosephs ten brethren downe to bye corne of the Egyptians.

4 Ty BenJamin Josephs broder lät Jacob icke fara med sina bröder, ty han sade: Honom måtte något ondt vederkomma.

But Beniamin Iosephs brother woulde not Iaakob send with his brethren: for he saide, Least death should befall him.

5 Så foro Israels barn åstad till att köpa säd med androm, som kommo med dem; ty det var ock dyr tid i Canaans lande.

And the sonnes of Israel came to bye foode among them that came: for there was famine in the land of Canaan.

6 Men Joseph var rådandes i landena, och sålde säd allo folkena i landena. Då nu hans bröder kommo till honom, föllo de ned på jordene för honom på sitt ansigte.

Now Ioseph was gouerner of the land, who solde to all the people of the lande: then Iosephs brethren came, and bowed their face to the groud before him.

7 Och han såg uppå dem, och kände dem, och låts vara främmande emot dem, och talade skarpt med dem, och sade till dem: Hvadan kommen I? De sade: Utaf Canaans land till att köpa spisning.

And when Ioseph sawe his brethren, hee knewe them, and made himselfe straunge toward them, and spake to them roughly, and saide vnto them, Whence come yee? Who answered, Out of the land of Canaan, to bye vitaile.

8 Och ändå han kände dem, så kände de dock intet honom.

(Now Ioseph knewe his brethren, but they knew not him.

9 Och Joseph tänkte på drömmen, som honom hade drömt om dem, och sade till dem: I ären spejare, och ären komne till att bese, hvarest landet är öppet.

And Ioseph remembred the dreames, which he dreamed of them) and he sayde vnto them, Ye are spies, and are come to see the weaknesse of the land.

10 De svarade honom: Nej, min herre, dine tjenare äro komne till att köpa spisning.

But they sayde vnto him, Nay, my lorde, but to bye vitayle thy seruants are come.

11 Vi äre alle ens mans söner; vi äre redelige, och dine tjenare hafva aldrig varit spejare.

Wee are all one mans sonnes: wee meane truely, and thy seruants are no spies.

12 Han sade till dem: Nej, utan I ären komne till att bese, hvarest landet är öppet.

But he saide vnto them, Nay, but yee are come to see the weakenes of the land.

13 De svarade honom: Vi dine tjenare äre tolf bröder, ens mans söner i Canaans land; och den yngste är när vår fader, men den ene är icke mer till.

And they said, We thy seruants are twelue brethren, the sonnes of one man in the lande of Canaan: and beholde, the yongest is this day with our father, and one is not.

14 Joseph sade till dem: Detta är det jag hafver sagt eder, spejare ären I.

Againe Ioseph sayde vnto them, This is it that I spake vnto you, saying, Ye are spies.

15 De uppå vill jag pröfva eder: Vid Pharaos lif, I skolen icke komma hädan, med mindre edar yngste broder kommer hit.

Hereby ye shall be proued: by the life of Pharaoh, ye shall not goe hence, except your yongest brother come hither.

16 Sänder en af eder bort, som hemtar hit edar broder: Men I skolen vara fångne. Så vill jag pröfva edart tal, om I faren med sanningene eller icke. Ty hvar så icke, så ären I, vid Pharaos lif, spejare.

Send one of you which may fet your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proued, whether there bee trueth in you: or els by the life of Pharaoh ye are but spies.

17 Och han lät dem allesamman i förvaring i tre dagar.

So he put them in warde three dayes.

18 Om tredje dagen sade han till dem: Viljen I lefva, så görer alltså; ty jag fruktar Gud.

Then Ioseph said vnto them the third day, This do, and liue: for I feare God.

19 Ären I redelige, så låter en edar broder ligga bunden i edart fängelse; men I farer bort, och förer hem hvad som I köpt hafven emot hungeren;

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bounde in your prison house, and goe ye, carie foode for the famine of your houses:

20 Och förer edar yngsta broder hit till mig, så vill jag tro edor ord, på det I icke skolen dö. Och de gjorde så.

But bring your yonger brother vnto me, that your wordes may be tried, and that ye dye not: and they did so.

21 Men de talade inbördes: Detta hafve vi förskyllat på vår broder, att vi såge hans själs ångest, då han bad oss, och vi ville intet höra honom; derföre kommer nu denna bedröfvelsen öfver oss.

And they said one to another, We haue verily sinned against our brother, in that we sawe the anguish of his soule, when he besought vs, and we would not heare him: therefore is this trouble come vpon vs.

22 Ruben svarade dem, och sade: Sade jag icke eder, då jag talade: Synder icke på pilten; och I villen icke hörat? Nu varder hans blod utkrafd.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Warned I not you, saying, Sinne not against the childe, and ye would not heare? and lo, his blood is now required.

23 Men de visste icke, att Joseph förstod det; ty han talade med dem med en tolk.

(And they were not aware that Ioseph vnderstoode them: for he spake vnto them by an interpreter.)

24 Och han vände sig ifrå dem, och gret. Då han nu vände sig åter till dem, och talade med dem, tog han Simeon utaf dem, och bandt honom för deras ögon.

Then he turned from them, and wept, and turned to them againe, and communed with them, and tooke Simeon from among them, and bounde him before their eyes.

25 Och gaf befallningen, att deras säckar skulle fyllas med mälning, och gifvas deras penningar igen, hvars i hans säck; dertill ock hvarjom sina täring på resone. Och man gjorde dem så.

So Ioseph commanded that they should fill their sackes with wheate, and put euery mans money againe in his sacke, and giue them vitaile for the iourney: and thus did he vnto them.

26 Och de lade sina varor på sina åsnar, och foro dädan.

And they layed their vitaile vpon their asses, and departed thence.

27 Men då endera lät upp sin säck, att han skulle fodra sin åsna i herberget, vardt han varse sina penningar, som lågo ofvan i säckenom;

And as one of them opened his sacke for to giue his asse prouender in the ynne, he espyed his money: for lo, it was in his sackes mouth.

28 Och sade till sina bröder: Jag hafver fått mina penningar igen; si, de äro i minom säck. Då förföll dem deras hjerta och förskräcktes inbördes, och sade: Hvi hafver Gud gjort oss så?

Then he sayde vnto his brethren, My money is restored: for loe, it is euen in my sacke. And their heart fayled them, and they were astonished, and sayde one to another, What is this, that God hath done vnto vs?

29 Då de nu kommo hem till deras fader Jacob i Canaans lande, sade de honom allt det dem vederfaret var, och sade:

And they came vnto Iaakob their father vnto the lande of Canaan, and tolde him all that had befallen them, saying,

30 Den mannen, som är herre i landet, talade skarpt till oss, och höll oss för landsens spejare.

The man, who is Lord of the lande, spake roughly to vs, and put vs in prison as spyes of the countrey.

31 Och då vi svarade: Vi äre redelige, och hafve aldrig varit spejare;

And we sayd vnto him, We are true men, and are no spies.

32 Utan ärom tolf bröder, vårs faders söner; en är icke mer till, och den yngste är ännu i denna dag när vår fader i Canaans lande;

We be twelue brethren, sonnes of our father: one is not, and the yongest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

33 Sade han till oss: Deruppå vill jag märkat, att I ären redelige: En edar broder låter när mig qvar, och tager nödtorft till edor hus, och farer bort:

Then the Lord of the countrey sayde vnto vs, Hereby shall I knowe if ye be true men: Leaue one of your brethren with me, and take foode for the famine of your houses and depart,

34 Och hemter edar yngsta broder hit till mig, så kan jag märka, att I icke ären spejare, utan redelige män; så vill jag ock gifva eder edar broder igen, och så må I bruka edart bästa i landena.

And bring your yongest brother vnto me, that I may knowe that ye are no spies, but true men: so will I deliuer you your brother, and yee shall occupie in the land.

35 Och då de slogo ut af säckarna, fann hvar och en sitt penningaknyte i sinom säck: Och då de sågo, att det var deras penningaknyte, vordo de, med deras fader, förskräckte.

And as they emptied their sacks, behold, euery mans bundel of money was in his sacke: and when they and their father sawe the bundels of their money, they were afrayde.

36 Då sade Jacob deras fader: I hafven gjort mig barnlös; Joseph är icke mera till, Simeon är ock icke mera till, BenJamin viljen I taga ifrå mig: Det går allt öfver mig.

Then Iaakob their father said to them, Ye haue robbed me of my children: Ioseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Beniamin: all these things are against me.

37 Ruben svarade sinom fader, och sade: Om jag icke förer dig honom hem igen, så dräp båda mina söner: Allenast gif honom i mina hand, jag vill föra dig honom hem igen.

Then Reuben answered his father, saying, Slay my two sonnes, if I bring him not to thee againe: deliuer him to mine hand, and I will bring him to thee againe.

38 Han sade: Min son skall icke fara ned med eder; ty hans broder är död, och han är allena igenblifven: Om honom vederfores något ondt i vägen, der I resten, vorden I drifvandes min grå hår med sorg neder i grafvena. (Sheol h7585)

But he said, My sonne shall not go downe with you: for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if death come vnto him by the way which ye goe, then ye shall bring my gray head with sorow vnto the graue. (Sheol h7585)
