1 Mosebok 26

1 Så kom en dyr tid i landet, efter den förra, som var i Abrahams tid: Och Isaac for till Abimelech, de Philisteers Konung, till Gerar.

And there was a famine in the lande besides the first famine that was in the dayes of Abraham. Wherefore Izhak went to Abimelech King of the Philistims vnto Gerar.

2 Då uppenbarade sig honom Herren, och sade: Far icke ned i Egypten; utan blif i det land, som jag säger dig.

For the Lord appeared vnto him, and sayde, Goe not downe into Egypt, but abide in the land which I shall shewe vnto thee.

3 Blif en främling i desso landena, och jag skall vara med dig, och välsigna dig; förty dig dine säd skall jag gifva all denna landen, och skall stadfästa min ed, som jag dinom fader Abraham svurit hafver.

Dwell in this lande, and I will be with thee, and will blesse thee: for to thee, and to thy seede I will giue all these countreys: and I will performe the othe which I sware vnto Abraham thy father.

4 Och skall föröka dina säd såsom stjernorna på himmelen, och skall gifva dine säd all denna landen; och igenom dina säd skola all folk på jordene välsignade varda.

Also I wil cause thy seede to multiply as the starres of heauen, and will giue vnto thy seede all these countreys: and in thy seede shall all the nations of the earth be blessed,

5 Derföre, att Abraham hafver varit mina röst hörig, och hafver hållit mina seder, min bud, mina stadgar och min lag.

Because that Abraham obeyed my voyce and kept mine ordinance, my commandements, my statutes, and my Lawes.

6 Så bodde Isaac i Gerar.

So Izhak dwelt in Gerar.

7 Och när folket i den landsändanom frågade honom om hans hustru, sade han: Hon är min syster; ty han fruktade att säga: Hon är min hustru; att de tilläfventyrs icke måtte slagit honom ihjäl för Rebeckas skull; ty hon var dägelig under ansigtet.

And the men of the place asked him of his wife, and he sayd, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife, least, sayde he, the men of the place shoulde kill me, because of Rebekah: for she was beautifull to the eye.

8 Då han nu hade varit der en tid lång, såg Abimelech de Philisteers Konung ut genom fenstret, och vardt varse att Isaac skämtade med sine hustru Rebecka.

So after hee had bene there long time, Abimelech King of the Philistims looked out at a windowe, and loe, he sawe Izhak sporting with Rebekah his wife.

9 Då kallade Abimelech Isaac, och sade: Si, det är din hustru; hvi hafver du sagt: Hon är min syster? Isaac svarade honom: Jag tänkte, att jag måtte tilläfventyrs varda slagen ihjäl för hennes skull.

Then Abimelech called Izhak, and sayde, Loe, shee is of a suertie thy wife, and why saydest thou, She is my sister? To whom Izhak answered, Because I thought this, It may be that I shall dye for her.

10 Abimelech sade: Hvi hafver du då gjort oss det? Måtte sakta hafva skett, att någon af folket hade lägrat sig med dine hustru, och så hade du kommit skuld uppå oss.

Then Abimelech said, Why hast thou done this vnto vs? one of the people had almost lien by thy wife, so shouldest thou haue brought sinne vpon vs.

11 Då böd Abimelech allo folkena, och sade: Hvilken som kommer vid denna mannen, eller hans hustru, han skall döden dö.

Then Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man, or his wife, shall die the death.

12 Och Isaac sådde der i landet, och fick det året hundradefaldt; ty Herren välsignade honom.

Afterwarde Izhak sowed in that lande, and founde in the same yeere an hundreth folde by estimation: and so the Lord blessed him.

13 Och han vardt en mägtig man, gick och växte till, till dess han vardt ganska stor.

And the man waxed mightie, and stil increased, till he was exceeding great,

14 Och hade mycket gods i får och fä, och mycket tjenstefolk; derföre afundades de Philisteer vid honom.

For he had flockes of sheepe, and heards of cattell, and a mightie housholde: therefore the Philistims had enuy at him.

15 Och kastade igen alla de brunnar, som hans faders tjenare grafvit hade i hans faders Abrahams tid, och fyllde dem upp med jord:

In so much that the Philistims stopped and filled vp with earth all the welles, which his fathers seruantes digged in his father Abrahams time.

16 Så att ock Abimelech sade till honom: Far ifrån oss; ty du äst vorden oss för mägtig.

Then Abimelech sayde vnto Izhak, Get thee from vs, for thou art mightier then wee a great deale.

17 Då for Isaac dädan, och slog upp sin tjäll i Gerars dal, och bodde der.

Therefore Izhak departed thence and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

18 Och lät uppgrafva igen de vattubrunnar, som de i hans faders Abrahams tid grafvit hade, hvilka de Philisteer efter Abrahams död igenfyllt hade: Och kallade dem vid samma namnet, som hans fader dem kallat hade.

And Izhak returning, digged the welles of water, which they had digged in the dayes of Abraham his father: for the Philistims had stopped them after the death of Abraham, and hee gaue them the same names, which his father gaue them.

19 Grofvo ock Isaacs tjenare i dalenom, och funno der en brunn med lefvandes vatten.

Izhaks seruantes then digged in the valley, and found there a well of liuing water.

20 Men herdarne af Gerar trätte med Isaacs herdar, och sade: Detta vattnet är vårt. Då kallade han den brunnen Esek, derföre att de hade der gjort honom högmod.

But the herdmen of Gerar did striue with Izhaks herdmen, saying, The water is ours: therefore called he the name of the well Esek, because they were at strife with him.

21 Då grofvo de en annan brunn, der trätte de ock öfver; derföre kallade han honom Sitna.

Afterwarde they digged another well, and stroue for that also, and he called the name of it Sitnah.

22 Då skyndade han sig dädan, och grof en annan brunn; der trätte de intet om; derföre kallade han honom Rehoboth, och sade: Nu hafver Herren gifvit oss rum, och låtit oss växa till i landena.

Then he remoued thence, and digged an other well, for the which they stroue not: therefore called hee the name of it Rehoboth, and sayde, Because the Lord hath nowe made vs roome, we shall increase vpon the earth.

23 Derefter for han dädan till BerSaba.

So he went vp thence to Beer-sheba.

24 Och Herren syntes honom i den nattene, och sade: Jag är dins faders Abrahams Gud: Frukta dig intet, ty jag är med dig, och skall välsigna dig, och föröka dina säd, för mins tjenares Abrahams skull.

And the Lord appeared vnto him the same night, and sayde, I am the God of Abraham thy father: feare not, for I am with thee, and wil blesse thee, and will multiplie thy seede for my seruant Abrahams sake.

25 Då byggde han dersammastädes ett altare, och predikade om Herrans namn, och uppslog der sitt tjäll: Och hans tjenare grofvo der en brunn.

Then he builte an altar there, and called vpon the Name of the Lord, and there spred his tent: where also Izhaks seruauntes digged a well.

26 Och Abimelech gick till honom af Gerar, och Ahusath hans vän, och Phicol hans härhöfvitsman.

Then came Abimelech to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friendes, and Phichol the captaine of his armie.

27 Men Isaac sade till dem: Hvi kommen I till mig? Haten I mig dock, och hafven drifvit mig ifrån eder.

To whom Izhak sayd, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate mee and haue put mee away from you?

28 De sade: Vi se med seende ögon, att Herren är med dig, derföre sade vi: Det skall vara en ed emellan oss och dig, och viljom göra ett förbund med dig;

Who answered, Wee sawe certainely that the Lord was with thee, and wee thought thus, Let there be nowe an othe betweene vs, euen betweene vs and thee, and let vs make a couenant with thee.

29 Att du icke gör oss någon skada, lika som vi icke heller hafve något afhändt dig, och såsom vi ej heller hafve gjort dig annat än godt, och låtit dig fara med frid; men nu äst du den som Herren välsignat hafver.

If thou shalt do vs no hurt, as we haue not touched thee, and as we haue done vnto thee nothing but good, and sent thee away in peace: thou nowe, the blessed of the Lord, doe this.

30 Då gjorde han dem en måltid, och de åto och drucko.

Then hee made them a feast, and they dyd eate and drinke.

31 Och om morgonen bittida stodo de upp, och svoro den ene dem andra: Och Isaac lät dem gå. Och de foro ifrå honom med frid.

And they rose vp betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: then Izhak let them go, and they departed from him in peace.

32 Samma dagen kommo Isaacs tjenare, och sade honom om brunnen, som de grafvit hade, och sade till honom: Vi hafvom funnit vatten.

And that same day Izhaks seruantes came and tolde him of a well, which they had digged, and said vnto him, We haue found water.

33 Och han kallade honom Saba: Deraf heter den staden BerSaba än i dag.

So hee called it Shibah: therefore the name of the citie is called Beer-sheba vnto this day.

34 Då Esau var fyratio år gammal, tog han hustrur, Judith, Beeri dens Hetheens dotter, och Basmath, Elons dens Hetheens dotter.

Nowe when Esau was fourtie yeere olde, he tooke to wife Iudith, the daughter of Beeri an Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon an Hittite also.

35 De voro båda emot Isaac och Rebecka ganska bittra.

And they were a griefe of minde to Izhak and to Rebekah.
