Efesierbrevet 6

1 I barn, varer hörige edra föräldrar i Herranom; ty det är rättvist.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this is right.

2 Hedra din fader och moder; hvilket är det första bud, som löfte med sig hafver:

“Honor thy father and mother;” which is the first commandment with a promise;

3 På det dig skall väl gå, och du må blifva långlifvad på jordene.

“that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live long on the earth.”

4 I fäder, reter icke edor barn till vrede; utan uppföder dem i tukt och Herrans förmaning.

And, ye fathers, stir not up the anger of your children, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

5 I tjenare, varer hörige edrom lekamligom herrom med räddhåga och bäfvan, i edor hjertas enfaldighet, såsom Christo;

Bond-servants, obey your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as serving Christ;

6 Icke tjenande allena för ögonen, såsom menniskom till vilja; utan såsom Christi tjenare, görande det Gud vill utaf hjertat.

not with eye-service as men-pleasers, but as bond-servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

7 Med välviljoghet låter eder tycka, att I tjenen Herranom, och icke menniskom;

doing service with good will, as to the Lord, and not to men;

8 Vetande, att hvad godt hvar och en gör, det skall han igenfå af Herranom, ehvad han är tjenare eller fri.

knowing that whatever good each one shall have done, that shall he receive from the Lord, whether he be bondman or free.

9 Och I herrar, görer ock detsamma emot dem, och öfvergifver trug; vetande, att ock edar Herre är i himmelen, och för honom är intet anseende till personen.

And, ye masters, do the same things to them, forbearing threatening; knowing that both they and you have a Master in heaven, and that there is no respect of persons with him.

10 På det sista, käre bröder, varer starke i Herranom, och i hans starkhets magt.

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Ikläder eder allt Guds harnesk, på det I mågen stå emot djefvulens listiga anlopp.

Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil;

12 Ty vi hafvom icke strid emot kött och blod; utan emot Förstar och väldiga, nämliga emot verldenes herrar, de som regera i denna verldenes mörker, emot de onda andar under himmelen. (aiōn g165)

for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly regions. (aiōn g165)

13 Derföre, tager på eder allt Guds harnesk, att I mågen emotstå i den onda dagen, och all ting väl uträtta, och beståndande blifva.

Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Så står nu omgjordade kringom edra länder med sanningene, och iklädde rättfärdighetenes kräfveto;

Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast-plate of righteousness,

15 Och fötterna skodde, att I mågen redo vara till fridsens Evangelium.

and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Men öfver all ting tager trones sköld, med hvilkom I kunnen utsläcka all hins ondas glödande skott.

taking up, in addition to all, the shield of faith, by which ye will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the Evil One;

17 Och tager på eder salighetenes hjelm, och Andans svärd, som är Guds ord;

and receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

18 I all bön och åkallan, alltid bedjande i Andanom; och vaker dertill, med all idkelighet, och bön för all helgon;

praying with all prayer and entreaty at all times in the Spirit; and watching to this end with all perseverance and entreaty for all the saints,

19 Och för mig, att mig måtte gifvet varda tala dristeliga med öppen mun, att jag måtte kunniga göra Evangelii hemlighet;

and for me, that utterance may be given me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

20 Hvilkets bådskap jag är i denna kedjon; på det jag deruti må fri tala, som mig bör tala.

in behalf of which I am an ambassador in chains; that I may proclaim it boldly, as I ought to speak.

21 Men på det I mågen ock veta, huru med oss tillstår, och hvad jag gör, skall Tychicus, min älskelige broder och trogne tjenare i Herranom, eder undervisa;

But that ye also may know about me, how I am faring, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will inform you of everything;

22 Hvilken jag derföre sände till eder, att I skolen få veta, huru med mig tillstår; och att han skulle trösta edor hjerta.

whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that ye may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts.

23 Frid vare bröderna, och kärlek med trone, af Gud Fader och Herranom Jesu Christo.

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

24 Nåd vare med allom, som vår Herra Jesum Christum rättsinneliga kär hafva. Amen.
