Daniel 2

1 Uti andro årena af NebucadNezars rike såg NebucadNezar en dröm, af hvilkom han vardt förskräckt, så att han vaknade upp.

And in the seconde yeere of the raygne of Nebuchad-nezzar, Nebuchad-nezzar dreamed dreames wherewith his spirite was troubled, and his sleepe was vpon him.

2 Då lät han tillhopakomma alla stjernokikare, och visa, och trollkarlar, och Chaldeer, att de skulle säga Konungenom sin dröm. De kommo, och trädde fram för Konungen.

Then the King commanded to call the inchanters, and the astrologians and the sorcerers, and the Caldeans for to shewe the King his dreames: so they came and stoode before the King.

3 Och Konungen sade till dem: Jag hafver haft en dröm, som mig förskräckt hafver, och jag vill gerna veta, hvad det för en dröm varit hafver.

And the King sayde vnto them, I haue dreamed a dreame, and my spirite was troubled to knowe the dreame.

4 Då sade de Chaldeer till Konungen, på Syriskt mål: Herre Konung, Gud låte dig länge lefva; säg dinom tjenarom drömmen, så vilje vi uttyda honom.

Then spake the Caldeans to the King in the Aramites language, O King, liue for euer: shewe thy seruants thy dreame, and wee shall shewe the interpretation.

5 Konungen svarade, och sade till de Chaldeer: Det är fallet mig utu minnet; om I icke låten mig få veta drömmen, och uttyden honom, så skolen I platt förgöras, och edor hus skämliga förstörd varda.

And the King answered and sayd to the Caldeans, The thing is gone from me. If ye will not make me vnderstande the dreame with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be drawen in pieces, and your houses shall be made a iakes.

6 Om I ock låten mig få drömmen veta, och uttyden honom, så skolen I få skänker, gåfvor och stora äro, af mig; derföre säger mig nu drömmen, och hans uttydning.

But if yee declare the dreame and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receyue of me gifts and rewardes, and great honour: therefore shewe me the dreame and the interpretation of it.

7 De svarade åter, och sade: Konungen säge sinom tjenarom drömmen, så vilje vi uttyda honom.

They answered againe, and sayde, Let the King shewe his seruantes the dreame, and wee will declare the interpretation thereof.

8 Konungen svarade, och sade: Sannerliga, jag förmärker att I fördröjen tiden, efter I sen dock, att det är fallet mig utu minnet.

Then the King answered, and sayd, I knowe certeinly that ye would gaine the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

9 Men om I icke sägen mig drömmen, så skall rätten gå öfver eder, lika som öfver de der taga sig före att tala lögn och drafvel för mig, så länge tiden skall förlöpa; derföre säger mig nu drömmen, så kan jag märka, att I ock finnen uppå uttydningen.

But if ye will not declare mee the dreame, there is but one iudgement for you: for ye haue prepared lying and corrupt wordes, to speake before me till the time bee changed: therefore tell me the dreame, that I may knowe, if yee can declare me the interpretation thereof.

10 Då svarade de Chaldeer för Konungenom, och sade till honom: Ingen menniska är på jordene, den, det Konungen begärar, säga kan; och är ej heller någon Konung, ehuru stor eller mägtig han är, som sådant af någrom stjernokikare, visom eller Chaldee äskar.

Then the Caldeans answered before the King, and sayde, There is no man vpon earth that can declare the Kings matter: yea, there is neither king nor prince nor lorde that asked such things at an inchanter or astrologian or Caldean.

11 Ty det Konungen uppå äskar, är för högt, och är ej heller någon, som detta för Konungenom säga kan, undantagna gudarna, hvilke icke bo när menniskomen.

For it is a rare thing that the King requireth, and there is none other that can declare it before the King, except the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh.

12 Då vardt Konungen ganska vred, och böd förgöra alla de visa i Babel.

For this cause the king was angrie and in great furie, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel.

13 Och domen gick ut, att man skulle dräpa de visa; vardt också Daniel med sina stallbröder sökt, att man dem dräpa skulle.

And when sentence was giuen, the wise men were slayne: and they sought Daniel and his fellowes to be put to death.

14 Då förnam Daniel sådana dom och befallning, af Arioch, Konungens öfversta domare, hvilken utfor till att döda de visa i Babel.

Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisedome to Arioch the Kings chiefe stewarde, which was gone foorth to put to death the wise men of Babel.

15 Och han hof upp, och sade till Konungens befallningsman Arioch: Hvarföre är denne stränge domen utgången ifrå Konungenom? Och Arioch lät Daniel det förstå.

Yea, he answered and sayde vnto Arioch the kings captaine, Why is the sentence so hastie from the king? Then Arioch declared the thing to Daniel.

16 Så gick Daniel upp, och bad Konungen, att han skulle gifva honom tid till, att han måtte säga Konungenom uttydningena.

So Daniel went and desired the king that he woulde giue him leasure and that he woulde shewe the king the interpretation thereof.

17 Sedan gick Daniel hem, och gaf det sina stallbröder, Hanania, Misael och Asaria, tillkänna;

The Daniel went to his house and shewed the matter to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah his companions,

18 Att de skulle bedja Gud af himmelen om nåd till denna hemlighet; att Daniel och hans medbröder, samt med de andra visa i Babel, icke förgöras skulle.

That they should beseech the God of heauen for grace in this secrete, that Daniel and his fellowes should not perish with the rest of ye wise men of Babel.

19 Då vardt denna hemlig ting Daniel genom ena syn om nattene uppenbarad; för hvilket Daniel lofvade Gud af himmelen.

Then was the secret reueiled vnto Daniel in a vision by night: therefore Daniel praysed the God of heauen.

20 Och Daniel tog till att tala, och säga: Lofvadt vare Guds Namn, ifrån evighet till evighet; ty hans är både vishet och starkhet.

And Daniel answered and sayde, The Name of God be praysed for euer and euer: for wisedome and strength are his,

21 Han förvandlar tider och stunder; han sätter Konungar af, och sätter Konungar upp; han gifver de visa deras vishet, och de förståndiga deras förstånd.

And hee changeth the times and seasons: he taketh away kings: he setteth vp kings: he giueth wisedome vnto the wise, and vnderstanding to those that vnderstand.

22 Han uppenbarar det djupt och hemligit är; han vet hvad i mörkrena ligger; ty när honom är alltsammans ljus.

Hee discouereth the deepe and secrete things: he knoweth what is in darkenes, and the light dwelleth with him.

23 Jag tackar och lofvar dig, mina fäders Gud, att du hafver förlänt mig vishet och starkhet, och hafver nu det uppenbarat, der vi dig om bedit hafve; det är, Konungens ärende hafver du oss uppenbarat.

I thanke thee and prayse thee, O thou God of my fathers, that thou hast giuen mee wisedome and strength, and hast shewed me nowe the thing that wee desired of thee: for thou hast declared vnto vs the kings matter.

24 Så gick Daniel upp till Arioch, den af Konungenom befallning hade till att dräpa de visa i Babel, och sade till honom alltså: Du skall icke förgöra de visa i Babel; utan haf mig upp till Konungen, jag vill säga Konungenom uttydelsen.

Therefore Daniel went vnto Arioch, whome the King had ordeyned to destroy the wise men of Babel: he went and sayde thus vnto him, Destroy not the wise men of Babel, but bring me before the King, and I will declare vnto the King the interpretation.

25 Arioch hade Daniel med hast upp för Konungen, och sade till honom alltså: En är funnen ibland Juda fångar, som Konungenom uttydningen säga kan.

Then Arioch brought Daniel before the King in all haste, and sayd thus vnto him, I haue found a man of the children of Iudah that were brought captiues, that will declare vnto the King the interpretation.

26 Konungen svarade, och sade till Daniel, den de Beltesazar kallade: Äst du den samme, som mig kan säga den dröm, som jag hafver, och hans uttydning?

Then answered the King, and sayde vnto Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to shew me the dreame, which I haue seene, and the interpretation thereof?

27 Daniel svarade inför Konungenom, och sade: Den hemlighet, som Konungen äskar af de visa, lärda, stjernokikare och spåmän, står icke i deras magt att säga Konungenom;

Daniel answered in the presence of the King, and sayd, The secret which the King hath demanded, can neither the wise, the astrologians, the inchanters, nor the southsayers declare vnto the King.

28 Utan Gud af himmelen, han kan uppenbara hemlig ting; han hafver tett Konungenom NebucadNezar, hvad i tillkommande tider ske skall; din dröm och din syn, då du sof, var denna;

But there is a God in heauen that reueileth secrets, and sheweth the King Nebuchad-nezzar what shall bee in the latter dayes. Thy dreame, and the things which thou hast seene in thine heade vpon thy bed, is this.

29 Du Konung tänker i dine säng, huru det måtte tillgå i framtiden; och den som hemlig ting uppenbarar, han tedde dig, huru det gå skulle.

O King, when thou wast in thy bedde, thoughts came into thy mind, what should come to passe hereafter, and he that reueyleth secretes, telleth thee, what shall come.

30 Så är mig denna hemlighet uppenbarad, icke igenom mina vishet, lika som hon större vore än allas de som lefva; utan derföre, att uttydningen måtte Konungenom undervist varda, och du dins hjertas tankar veta få.

As for me, this secret is not shewed mee for any wisedome that I haue, more then any other liuing, but onely to shewe the King the interpretation, and that thou mightest knowe the thoughts of thine heart.

31 Du Konung sågst, och si, ett ganska stort och högt beläte stod för dig; det var grufveligit att uppå se.

O King, thou sawest, and beholde, there was a great image: this great image whose glory was so excellent, stood before thee, and the forme thereof was terrible.

32 Dess belätes hufvud var af klart guld, dess bröst och armar voro af silfver, buken och länderna voro af koppar;

This images head was of fine golde, his breast and his armes of siluer, his bellie and his thighs of brasse,

33 Dess ben voro af jern, dess fötter voro somt af jern, och somt af ler.

His legges of yron, and his feete were part of yron, and part of clay.

34 Sådant sågst du, tilldess en sten nederrifven vardt utan händer; han slog belätet uppå dess fötter, som af jern och ler voro, och förkrossade dem.

Thou beheldest it til a stone was cut without hands, which smote the image vpon his feete, that were of yron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Då vordo all tillhopa förkrossad, jernet, leret, kopparen, silfret och guldet, och vordo såsom agnar på enom sommarloga, och vädret bortförde det, så att man kunde intet mer finna det; men stenen, som slog belätet, vardt till ett stort berg, så att det uppfyllde hela verldena.

Then was the yron, the clay, the brasse, the siluer and the golde broken all together, and became like the chaffe of the sommer floures, and the winde caryed them away, that no place was founde for them: and the stone that smote the image, became a great mountaine, and filled the whole earth.

36 Detta är drömmen. Nu vilje vi säga uttydningen för Konungenom.

This is the dreame, and we will declare before the King the interpretation thereof.

37 Du Konung äst en Konung öfver alla Konungar, den Gud af himmelen rike, magt, starkhet och äro gifvit hafver.

O King, thou art a king of Kings: for the God of heauen hath giuen thee a kingdome, power, and strength, and glorie.

38 Och allt det, der menniskor bo, och djuren på markene, och foglarna under himmelen, hafver han gifvit i dina händer, och förlänt dig magt öfver detta allt; du äst det gyldene hufvudet.

And in all places where the children of men dwell, the beasts of the fielde, and the foules of the heauen hath he giuen into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler ouer them al: thou art this heade of golde.

39 Efter dig skall ett annat Konungarike uppkomma, sämre än ditt; derefter det tredje Konungarike, som af koppar är, hvilket öfver all land regera skall.

And after thee shall rise another kingdome, inferiour to thee, of siluer, and another third kingdome shalbe of brasse, which shall beare rule ouer all the earth.

40 Det fjerde skall vara hårdt såsom jern; ty lika visst som jern sönderslår och sönderkrossar all ting; ja, lika som jern sönderslår all ting, så skall ock detta sönderkrossa och sönderslå alltsamman.

And the fourth kingdome shall be strong as yron: for as yron breaketh in pieces, and subdueth all things, and as yron bruiseth all these things, so shall it breake in pieces, and bruise all.

41 Men att du sågst fötterna och tårna, somt af ler, och somt af jern, det skall vara ett söndradt Konungarike; dock skall af jerns planto blifva deruti, såsom du sågst jern beblandadt med ler.

Where as thou sawest the feete and toes, parte of potters clay, and part of yron: the kingdome shalbe deuided, but there shalbe in it of the strength of the yron, as thou sawest the yron mixt with the clay, and earth.

42 Och att tårna på dess fötter, somt af jern, och somt af ler voro, det skall vara endels ett starkt, och endels ett svagt rike.

And as the toes of the feete were parte of yron, and parte of clay, so shall the kingdome be partly strong, and partly broken.

43 Och att du sågst jern beblandadt med ler, skola de väl beblanda sig efter menniskos blod tillsammans; men de skola likväl intet hänga tillhopa, lika som jern icke kan bemängas med ler.

And where as thou sawest yron mixt with clay and earth, they shall mingle themselues with the seede of men: but they shall not ioyne one with another, as yron can not bee mixed with clay.

44 Men uti dessa Konungarikes tid skall Gud af himmelen upprätta ett Konungarike, det aldrig skall förlagdt varda; och hans rike skall icke komma till något annat folk; det skall förkrossa och förstöra all dessa riken; men det skall blifva i evig tid.

And in the dayes of these Kings, shall the God of heauen set vp a kingdome, which shall neuer be destroyed: and this kingdome shall not be giuen to another people, but it shall breake, and destroy al these kingdomes, and it shall stand for euer.

45 Såsom du sågst en sten nederrifven af ett berg utan händer, hvilken sönderslog jernet, kopparen, leret, silfret och guldet, alltså hafver nu den store Gud tett Konungenom, hvad som framdeles ske skall; och detta är visserliga drömmen, och uttydningen är rätt.

Where as thou sawest, that the stone was cut of the mountaine without handes, and that it brake in pieces the yron, the brasse, the clay, the siluer, and the golde: so the great God hath shewed the King, what shall come to passe hereafter, and the dreame is true, and the interpretation thereof is sure.

46 Då föll Konungen NebucadNezar uppå sitt ansigte, och tillbad inför Daniel; och befallde, att man skulle göra honom spisoffer och rökoffer.

Then the King Nebuchad-nezzar fell vpon his face, and bowed himselfe vnto Daniel, and commanded that they should offer meate offrings, and sweete odours vnto him.

47 Och Konungen svarade Daniel, och sade: Det är intet tvifvel, edar Gud är en Gud öfver alla gudar, och en Herre öfver alla Konungar, den hemlig ting uppenbara kan; efter du dessa hemlig ting hafver kunnat uppenbara.

Also the King answered vnto Daniel, and said, I know of a trueth that your God is a God of gods, and the Lord of Kings, and the reueiler of secrets, seeing thou couldest open this secret.

48 Och Konungen upphöjde Daniel, och gaf honom stora myckna skänker; och gjorde honom till en Första öfver hela landet Babel, och satte honom till en öfversta öfver alla de visa i Babel.

So the King made Daniel a great man, and gaue him many and great giftes. Hee made him gouernour ouer the whole prouince of Babel, and chiefe of the rulers, and aboue all the wise men of Babel.

49 Och Daniel bad Konungen, att han måtte sätta Sadrach, Mesach och AbedNego öfver de landskap i Babel; men Daniel sjelf blef när Konungenom i hans gård.

Then Daniel made request to the King, and hee set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ouer the charge of the prouince of Babel: but Daniel sate in the gate of the King.
