Apostlagärningarna 7
1 Då sade den öfverste Presten: Hafver detta sig ock så?
Then the high priest said, Are these things true?
2 Då sade han: I män, bröder och fader, hörer härtill. Härlighetenes Gud syntes vårom fader Abraham, medan han var i Mesopotamien, förr än han bodde i Haran;
And he said, My brothers and fathers, give hearing. The God of glory came to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he was living in Haran,
3 Och sade till honom: Gack utu ditt land, och ifrå dine slägt; och kom i det land, som jag vill visa dig.
And said to him, Go out of your land, and away from your family, and come into the land to which I will be your guide.
4 Då for han ut af de Chaldeers land, och bodde i Haran; och dädan, då hans fader var död, lät han föra honom hit i detta land, der I nu uti bon;
Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and went into Haran; and from there, when his father was dead, he was guided by God into this land, where you are living now:
5 Och gaf honom ingen arfvedel härinne, icke en fot bredt. Och han lofvade honom, att han skulle honom det gifva till att besitta, och hans säd efter honom, den tid han ännu inga barn hade.
And God gave him no heritage in it, not even enough to put his foot on: but he gave him an undertaking that he would give it to him and to his children after him, though he had no child at that time.
6 Men Gud sade alltså: Din säd skall varda främmande, uti främmande land; och de skola hafva dem under sig i träldom, och fara illa med dem, i fyrahundrade år.
And God said that his seed would be living in a strange land, and that they would make them servants, and be cruel to them for four hundred years.
7 Och det folk, som de tjena skola, vill jag döma, sade Gud; och sedan skola de gå derut, och skola tjena mig i detta rum.
And I will be the judge, said God, of that nation which made them servants: and after that, they will come out and give me worship in this place.
8 Och han gaf honom omskärelsens förbund; och han födde Isaac, och omskar honom på åttonde dagen; och Isaac födde Jacob; och Jacob födde de tolf Patriarcher.
And he made with him the agreement of which circumcision was the sign. And so Abraham had a son, Isaac, and gave him circumcision on the eighth day; and Isaac had a son, Jacob, and Jacob was the father of the twelve heads of the families of Israel.
9 Och de Patriarcher sålde Joseph, för afunds skull, in uti Egypten; och Gud var med honom.
And the brothers, moved with envy against Joseph, gave him to the Egyptians for money: but God was with him,
10 Och han halp honom utur all hans bedröfvelse, och gaf honom nåd och visdom inför Pharao, Konungen i Egypten; och han satte honom till höfvitsman öfver Egypten, och öfver allt sitt hus.
And made him free from all his troubles, and gave him wisdom and the approval of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and all his house.
11 Så kom hunger öfver hela Egypti land och Canaan, och stor tvång; och våre fäder funno ingen födo.
Now there was no food to be had in all Egypt and Canaan, and there was great trouble: and our fathers were not able to get food.
12 Men då Jacob hörde, att uti Egypten var korn, sände han våra fäder första gången ut.
But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers the first time.
13 Och då han åter sände dem ut, vardt Joseph känder af sina bröder; och Pharao vardt undervist om Josephs slägt.
And the second time his brothers had a meeting with Joseph, and Pharaoh had knowledge of Joseph's family.
14 Då sände Joseph, och kallade sin fader Jacob till sig, och all sin slägt, till fem och sjutio själar.
Then Joseph sent for Jacob his father and all his family, seventy-five persons.
15 Och Jacob for ned till Egypten; och blef död, han och våre fäder;
And Jacob went down to Egypt, and came to his end there, and so did our fathers;
16 Och vordo förde till Sichem, och lades i griften, som Abraham köpt hade, för penningar, af Hemors barn, som var Sichems ( son ).
And they were taken over to Shechem, and put to rest in the place which Abraham got for a price in silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.
17 Då nu tiden tillstundade om löftet, om hvilket Gud hade svorit Abraham, växte folket, och vardt förökadt uti Egypten;
But when the time was near for putting into effect the undertaking which God had given to Abraham, the people were increasing in Egypt,
18 Tilldess der uppkom en annar Konung, den intet visste af Joseph.
Till another king came to power, who had no knowledge of Joseph.
19 Han gick vårt slägte efter med list, och for illa med våra fäder, så att de utkasta måste sin barn, att de icke skulle blifva lefvande.
He, having evil designs against our nation, was cruel to our fathers, and they were forced to put out their young children, so that they might not go on living.
20 Samma tiden vardt Moses född, och han var Gudi täcker; och vardt fostrader i sins faders hus, i tre månader.
At which time Moses came to birth, and he was very beautiful; and he was kept for three months in his father's house:
21 Då han sedan utkastad vardt, tog Pharaos dotter honom upp, och födde honom upp sig för en son.
And when he was put out, Pharaoh's daughter took him and kept him as her son.
22 Och vardt Moses lärd i all den visdom, som de Egyptier hade; och var mägtig i ord och gerningar.
And Moses was trained in all the wisdom of Egypt, and was great in his words and works.
23 Men då han vardt fyratio år gammal, kom honom i hjertat, att han ville bese sina bröder, Israels barn.
But when he was almost forty years old, it came into his heart to go and see his brothers, the children of Israel.
24 Och då han såg, att enom af dem skedde orätt, halp han honom, och hämnade hans skada, som orätt skedde, och slog den Egyptien.
And seeing one of them being attacked, he went to his help and gave the Egyptian a death-blow:
25 Och han mente att hans bröder skulle förstå, att Gud, genom hans hand, skulle frälsa dem; men de förstodo det intet.
And he was hoping that his brothers would see that God had sent him to be their saviour; but they did not see.
26 Och dagen derefter syntes han ibland dem, der de trätte tillhopa; och ville förlika dem, sägandes: I män, I ären bröder hvi gören I hvarannan orätt?
And the day after, he came to them, while they were having a fight, and would have made peace between them, saying, Sirs, you are brothers; why do you do wrong to one another?
27 Men den som orätt gjorde sinom nästa, han stötte honom bort, sägandes: Ho hafver satt dig till höfvitsman och domare öfver oss?
But the man who was doing wrong to his neighbour, pushing him away, said, Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Månn du vilja slå mig ihjäl, såsom du slog den Egyptien i går?
Will you put me to death as you did the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Då flydde Moses, för detta talets skull, och vardt en främling uti det landet Madian; der han två söner födde.
And at these words, Moses went in flight to the land of Midian, and was living there for a time, and had two sons.
30 Och efter fyratio år syntes honom Herrans Ängel i öknene, vid det berget Sina, uti en brinnande låga, utu buskanom.
At the end of forty years, an angel came to him in the waste land of Sinai, in the flame of a burning thorn-tree.
31 Då Moses det såg, förundrade han sig om den synena; men då han gick fram, och skulle skåda, skedde Herrans röst till honom:
And Moses, seeing it, was full of wonder, and when he came up to have a nearer view of it, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying,
32 Jag är dina fäders Gud, Abrahams Gud, Isaacs Gud, och Jacobs Gud. Då vardt Moses förfärad, och torde icke se dit.
I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob. And Moses, shaking with fear, kept his eyes from looking at it.
33 Då sade Herren till honom: Lös dina skor af dina fötter; ty det rum, som du står uppå, är ett heligt land.
And the Lord said, Take off the shoes from your feet, for the place where you are is holy.
34 Jag hafver väl sett mins folks tvång, som är uti Egypten, och hafver hört deras suckan, och är nederstigen till att frälsa dem; så kom nu hit, jag vill sända dig uti Egypten.
Truly, I have seen the sorrows of my people in Egypt, and their cries have come to my ears, and I have come down to make them free: and now, come, I will send you to Egypt.
35 Denna Mosen, som de försakade, sägande: Ho gjorde dig till höfvitsman och domare? honom ( säger jag ) hafver Gud sändt för en höfvitsman och förlossare, genom Ängelens hand, som honom syntes i buskanom.
This Moses, whom they would not have, saying, Who made you a ruler and a judge? him God sent to be a ruler and a saviour, by the hand of the angel whom he saw in the thorn-tree.
36 Han förde dem ut, görandes under och tecken uti Egypten, och uti röda hafvet, och uti öknene, i fyratio år.
This man took them out, having done wonders and signs in Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the waste land, for forty years.
37 Denne är Moses, som sade till Israels barn: En Prophet skall Herren, edar Gud, uppväcka eder af edra bröder, såsom mig; honom skolen I höra.
This is the same Moses, who said to the children of Israel, God will give you a prophet from among your brothers, like me.
38 Denne var den som uti församlingen, i öknene, var med Ängelen, som talade med honom på Sina berg, och med våra fäder; han undfick lifsens ord, till att gifva oss;
This is the man who was in the church in the waste land with the angel who was talking to him in Sinai, and with our fathers; and to him were given the living words of God, so that he might give them to you.
39 Hvilkom edre fäder ville icke lydaktige vara; utan drefvo honom ifrå sig, och vände sig om med sitt hjerta till Egypten;
By whom our fathers would not be controlled; but they put him on one side, turning back in their hearts to Egypt,
40 Sägande till Aaron: Gör oss gudar, som gå för oss; ty vi vete icke hvad denna Mosi vederfaret är, som oss utfört hafver af Egypti land.
And saying to Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: as for this Moses, who took us out of the land of Egypt, we have no idea what has become of him.
41 Och gjorde de en kalf, i de dagar, och offrade offer till afgudar, och fröjdade sig öfver sina händers verk.
And they made the image of a young ox in those days, and made an offering to it, and had joy in the work of their hands.
42 Då vände Gud sig om, och gaf dem der till, att de dyrkade himmelens härskap; såsom skrifvet står i Propheternas bok: I Israels hus, hafven I ock i de fyratio år offrat mig i öknene offer och fä?
But God was turned from them and let them give worship to the stars of heaven, as it says in the book of the prophets, Did you make offerings to me of sheep and oxen for forty years in the waste land, O house of Israel?
43 Och I upptogen Molochs tabernakel, och edars Guds Remphans stjerno; de beläte, som I gjort haden, till att tillbedja dem; och jag skall bortkasta eder utom Babylonien.
And you took up the tent of Moloch and the star of the god Rephan, images which you made to give worship to them: and I will take you away, farther than Babylon.
44 Våre fader hade vittnesbördsens tabernakel uti öknene; såsom han dem förskickat hade, sägandes till Mosen, att han skulle göra det efter den eftersyn, som han sett hade;
Our fathers had the Tent of witness in the waste land, as God gave orders to Moses to make it after the design which he had seen.
45 Hvilket ock våre fäder anammade, och förde det med Josua uti det land, som Hedningarna innehade, hvilka Gud utdref för våra fäders ansigte, intill Davids tid;
Which our fathers, in their turn, took with them when, with Joshua, they came into the heritage of the nations whom God was driving out before the face of our fathers, till the time of David,
46 Hvilken fann nåd för Gudi, och bad, att han måtte finna ett tabernakel till Jacobs Gud.
Who was pleasing to God; and he had a desire to make a holy tent for the God of Jacob.
47 Men Salomon byggde honom ett hus.
But Solomon was the builder of his house.
48 Dock den Aldrahögste bor icke uti de tempel, som med händer gjord äro, såsom Propheten säger:
But still, the Most High has not his resting-place in houses made with hands, as the prophet says,
49 Himmelen är mitt säte, och jorden är min fotapall. Hvad hus viljen I då bygga mig, säger Herren; eller hvad rum är till mina hvilo?
Heaven is the seat of my power, and earth is a resting-place for my feet: what sort of house will you make for me, says the Lord, or what is my place of rest?
50 Hafver icke min hand gjort detta alltsammans?
Did not my hand make all these things?
51 I hårdnackade, och oomskorne i hjertat och öron, I stån alltid emot den Helga Anda; såsom edra föder, sammalunda ock I.
You whose hearts are hard and whose ears are shut to me; you are ever working against the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.
52 Hvilken af Propheterna hafva icke edra fäder förföljt? De hafva ihjälslagit dem som förkunnade dens Rättfärdigas tillkommelse, hvilkens förrädare och dråpare I nu voren;
Which of the prophets was not cruelly attacked by your fathers? and they put to death those who gave them the news of the coming of the Upright One; whom you have now given up and put to death;
53 I, som undfingen lagen genom Änglaskickelse; och höllen den intet.
You, to whom the law was given as it was ordered by angels, and who have not kept it.
54 Då de detta hörde, skar det dem i deras hjerta, och beto samman tänderna öfver honom.
Hearing these things, they were cut to the heart and moved with wrath against him.
55 Men han, full af dem Helga Anda, såg upp i himmelen, och fick se Guds härlighet, och Jesum stå på Guds högra hand.
But he was full of the Holy Spirit, and looking up to heaven, he saw the glory of God and Jesus at the right hand of God.
56 Och han sade: Si, jag ser himmelen öppen, och menniskones Son stå på Guds högra hand.
And he said, Now I see heaven open, and the Son of man at the right hand of God.
57 Då ropade de med höga röst, och höllo sin öron till, och stormade alle tillika till honom;
But with loud cries, and stopping their ears, they made an attack on him all together,
58 Och drefvo honom utu staden, och stenade honom. Och vittnen lade sin kläder af vid en ung mans fötter, som het Saulus.
Driving him out of the town and stoning him: and the witnesses put their clothing at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 Och de stenade Stephanum; och han åkallade, och sade: Herre Jesu, anamma min anda.
And Stephen, while he was being stoned, made prayer to God, saying, Lord Jesus, take my spirit.
60 Och så böjde han sin knä neder, och ropade med höga röst: Herre, räkna dem icke denna synden. Och när han hade det sagt, af somnade han.
And going down on his knees, he said in a loud voice, Lord, do not make them responsible for this sin. And when he had said this, he went to his rest.
