2 Samuelsboken 14

1 Men Joab, ZeruJa son, förmärkte att Konungens hjerta var vändt till Absalom.

And Joab son of Zeruial knows that the heart of the king [is] on Absalom,

2 Och han sände bort till Thekoa, och lät hämta dädan ena kloka qvinno, och sade till henne: Jämra dig, och drag sorgkläder uppå, och smörj dig icke med oljo; utan ställ dig såsom en qvinna, den en lång tid hafver haft sorg öfver någon dödan;

and Joab sends to Tekoah, and takes a wise woman from there, and says to her, “Please feign yourself a mourner, and now put on garments of mourning, and do not anoint yourself with oil, and you have been as a woman mourning for the dead [for] these many days,

3 Och skall gå in till Konungen, och tala så och så med honom. Och Joab gaf henne in hvad hon säga skulle.

and you have gone to the king, and spoken to him, according to this word”; and Joab puts the words into her mouth.

4 Och då Qvinnan af Thekoa ville tala med Konungenom, föll hon på sitt anlete neder på jordena, och tillbad, och sade: Hjelp mig, Konung.

And the woman of Tekoah speaks to the king, and falls on her face to the earth, and pays respect, and says, “Save, O king.”

5 Konungen sade till henne: Hvad är dig? Hon sade: Jag är en enka, en qvinna som sorg hafver, och min man är död;

And the king says to her, “What do you [want]?” And she says, “I [am] truly a widow woman, and my husband dies,

6 Och din tjenarinna hade två söner; de kifvade tillhopa på markene; och efter der var ingen, som dem förtagat kunde, slog den ene den andra, och drap honom.

and your maidservant has two sons; and both of them strive in a field, and there is no deliverer between them, and one strikes the other, and puts him to death;

7 Och si, nu reser sig upp hela slägten emot dina tjenarinno, och säga: Få hit den som slog sin broder ihjäl, att vi måge dräpa honom för hans broders själ, den han dräpit hafver, och göra dig arfvingalösa; och de vilja utsläcka mina gnisto, som ännu qvar är, att minom man intet namn och ingen återlefva blifva skall på jordene.

and behold, the whole family has risen against your maidservant, and say, Give up him who strikes his brother, and we put him to death for the life of his brother whom he has slain, and we also destroy the heir; and they have quenched my coal which is left—so as not to set a name and remnant on the face of the ground for my husband.”

8 Konungen sade till qvinnona: Gack hem, jag vill bjuda för dig.

And the king says to the woman, “Go to your house, and I give charge concerning you.”

9 Och qvinnan af Thekoa sade till Konungen: Min herre Konung, missgerningen vare uppå mig, och uppå mins faders hus; men Konungen och hans stol vare oskyldig.

And the woman of Tekoah says to the king, “On me, my lord, O king, [is] the iniquity, and on the house of my father; and the king and his throne [are] innocent.”

10 Konungen sade: Den som emot dig talar, honom haf till mig, så skall han intet mer röra dig.

And the king says, “He who speaks to you, and you have brought him to me, then he does not add to come against you anymore.”

11 Hon sade: Konungen tänke på Herran din Gud, att de blodhämnare icke varda för månge till att förderfva, och att min son icke förgörs. Han sade: Så sant som Herren lefver, skall icke ett hår falla på jordene af dinom son.

And she says, “Please let the king remember by your God YHWH, that the redeemer of blood does not add to destroy, and they do not destroy my son”; and he says, “YHWH lives; if there falls [even one] hair of your son to the earth.”

12 Och qvinnan sade: Låt dina tjenarinno något säga minom herra Konungenom. Han sade: Säg.

And the woman says, “Please let your maidservant speak a word to my lord the king”; and he says, “Speak.”

13 Qvinnan sade: Hvi hafver du ett sådant tänkt emot Guds folk, att Konungen detta sagt hafver, att han skall komma sig i skuld, och icke låta igentaga sin fördrefna?

And the woman says, “And why have you thought thus concerning the people of God? Indeed, the king is speaking this thing as a guilty one, in that the king has not brought back his outcast;

14 Ty vi dö döden, och förlöpe såsom vatten i jordena, det man icke uppehåller; och Gud vill icke taga lifvet bort, utan betänker sig, att det fördrefna icke också skall fördrifvet varda af honom.

for we surely die, and [are] as water which is running down to the earth, which is not gathered, and God does not accept a person, and has devised plans in that the outcast is not outcast by Him.

15 Så är jag nu kommen, till att tala med min herra Konungen dessa ord; ty folket hafver förskräckt mig; ty din tjenarinna tänkte: Jag skall tala med Konungenom; kanhända, att han gör det hans tjenarinna säger.

And now that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, [it is] because the people made me afraid, and your maidservant says, Please let me speak to the king; it may be the king does the word of his handmaid,

16 Ty han skall väl höra sina tjenarinno, att han hjelper mig ifrån allas deras hand, som mig, samt med minom son, ifrå Guds arf förgöra vilja.

for the king listens to deliver his handmaid out of the paw of the man [seeking] to destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God,

17 Och din tjenarinna tänkte: Mins herras Konungens ord skall vara mig en tröst; ty min herre Konungen är såsom en Guds Ängel, så att han kan höra godt och ondt; derföre varder ock Herren din Gud med dig blifvandes.

and your maidservant says, Please let the word of my lord the king be for ease; for as a messenger of God so [is] my lord the king, to understand the good and the evil; and your God YHWH is with you.”

18 Konungen svarade, och sade till qvinnona: Ljug icke för mig i det jag frågar dig. Qvinnan sade: Min herre Konungen tale.

And the king answers and says to the woman, “Please do not hide from me the thing that I am asking you”; and the woman says, “Please let my lord the king speak.”

19 Konungen sade: Är icke Joabs hand med dig i allo desso? Qvinnan svarade, och sade: Så sant som din själ lefver, min herre Konung, det är ingen annan, antingen på högra handen eller den venstra, utan såsom min herre Konungen sagt hafver; ty din tjenare Joab hafver detta så budit mig, och han hafver allt detta dine tjenarinno ingifvit.

And the king says, “Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?” And the woman answers and says, “Your soul lives, my lord, O king, none [turn] to the right or to the left from all that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab commanded me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your maidservant.

20 Att jag skulle så vända denna sakena, det hafver din tjenare Joab gjort; men min herre är vis såsom en Guds Ängels vishet, så att han allt vet på jordene.

Your servant Joab has done this thing in order to bring around the appearance of the thing, and my lord [is] wise, according to the wisdom of a messenger of God, to know all that [is] in the land.”

21 Då sade Konungen till Joab: Si, jag hafver detta gjort; så gack nu bort, och haf pilten Absalom hem igen.

And the king says to Joab, “Now behold, you have done this thing; and go, bring back the young man Absalom.”

22 Då föll Joab på sitt ansigte till jordena, och tillbad, och tackade Konungenom, och sade: I dag förmärker din tjenare, att jag hafver funnit nåd för din ögon, min herre Konung, att Konungen gör hvad hans tjenare säger.

And Joab falls on his face to the earth, and pays respect, and blesses the king, and Joab says, “Today your servant has known that I have found grace in your eyes, my lord, O king, in that the king has done the word of his servant.”

23 Så stod då Joab upp, och for till Gesur, och hade Absalom till Jerusalem.

And Joab rises and goes to Geshur, and brings in Absalom to Jerusalem,

24 Men Konungen sade: Låt honom gå i sitt hus igen, och icke se mitt ansigte. Och så kom då Absalom igen i sitt hus, och såg intet Konungens ansigte.

and the king says, “Let him turn around to his house, and he does not see my face.” And Absalom turns around to his house, and he has not seen the face of the king.

25 Och i hela Israel var icke en man så dägelig och så prislig som Absalom; ifrå hans fotabjelle upp till hans hjessa var ingen brist på honom.

And there was no man [so] beautiful in all Israel like Absalom, to praise greatly; from the sole of his foot even to his crown there was no blemish in him;

26 Och när han skar sitt hår af; det skedde gemenliga hvart år, ty det var honom för tungt, så att man måste det afskära; så vog hans hufvudhår tuhundrade siklar, efter Konungsvigt.

and in his shaving his head—and it has been at the end of year by year that he shaves [it], for it [is] heavy on him, and he has shaved it—he has even weighed out the hair of his head—two hundred shekels by the king’s weight.

27 Och Absalom vordo födde tre söner, och en dotter; hon het Thamar, och var en dägelig qvinna.

And there are born to Absalom three sons and one daughter, and her name [is] Tamar; she was a woman of beautiful appearance.

28 Alltså blef Absalom i tu år i Jerusalem, att han Konungens ansigte intet såg.

And Absalom dwells in Jerusalem [for] two years of days, and he has not seen the face of the king;

29 Och Absalom sände efter Joab, att han skulle sända honom till Konungen; och han ville icke komma till honom. Han sände annan gången, likväl ville han icke komma,

and Absalom sends to Joab, to send him to the king, and he has not been willing to come to him; and he sends again a second time, and he has not been willing to come.

30 Då sade han till sina tjenare: Ser det stycket af Joabs åker bredevid min, och han hafver der bjugg uppå; så går bort, och sticker eld deruppå. Så stucko Absaloms tjenare eld på det stycket.

And he says to his servants, “See, the portion of Joab [is] by the side of mine, and he has barley there; go and burn it with fire”; and the servants of Absalom burn the portion with fire.

31 Då stod Joab upp, och kom till Absalom i huset, och sade till honom: Hvi hafva dine tjenare stuckit eld på mitt stycke?

And Joab rises and comes to Absalom in the house, and says to him, “Why have your servants burned the portion that I have with fire?”

32 Absalom sade till Joab: Si, jag sände efter dig, och lät säga dig: Kom till mig, att jag må sända dig till Konungen, och låta säga: Hvi kom jag ifrå Gesur? Det vore mig bättre, att jag ännu vore der. Så låt mig nu få se Konungens ansigte; är ock någon missgerning i mig, så dräp mig.

And Absalom says to Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, and I send you to the king to say, Why have I come in from Geshur? [It was] good for me while I [was] there—and now, let me see the king’s face, and if there is iniquity in me then you have put me to death.”

33 Och Joab gick in till Konungen, och sade det honom; och han kallade Absalom, att han kom in till Konungen; och han tillbad på sitt ansigte neder till jordena för Konungenom; och Konungen kysste Absalom.

And Joab comes to the king, and declares [it] to him, and he calls to Absalom, and he comes to the king, and bows himself to him, on his face, to the earth, before the king, and the king gives a kiss to Absalom.
