2 Krönikeboken 13

1 Uti adertonde årena Konungs Jerobeams vardt Abia Konung i Juda;

In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah reigns over Judah;

2 Och regerade tre år i Jerusalem; hans moder het Michaja, Uriels dotter, af Gibea. Och en strid hof sig upp emellan Abia och Jerobeam.

he has reigned three years in Jerusalem (and the name of his mother [is] Michaiah daughter of Uriel, from Gibeah), and there has been war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 Och Abia gjorde redo till strid med fyrahundradtusend unga män, starka till strid; men Jerobeam gjorde redo till att strida emot dem med åttahundradtusend starka unga män.

And Abijah directs the war with a force of mighty men of war, four hundred thousand chosen men, and Jeroboam has set in array [for] battle with him, with eight hundred thousand chosen men, mighty men of valor.

4 Och Abia steg upp på Zemaraims berg, som ligger på Ephraims berg, och sade: Hörer härtill, Jerobeam, och hele Israel!

And Abijah rises up on the hill of Zemaraim that [is] in the hill-country of Ephraim, and says, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel!

5 Veten I icke, att Herren Israels Gud hafver gifvit David Israels Konungarike till evig tid; honom och hans söner ett saltförbund?

Is it not for you to know that YHWH, God of Israel, has given the kingdom over Israel to David for all time, to him and to his sons—a covenant of salt?

6 Men Jerobeam, Nebats son, Salomos tjenare, Davids sons, kastade sig upp, och satte sig emot sin herra;

And Jeroboam, son of Nebat, servant of Solomon son of David, rises up and rebels against his lord!

7 Och till honom hafva gifvit sig lösaktige män och Belials barn, och hafva förstärkt sig emot Rehabeam, Salomos son; förty Rehabeam var ung, och af blödigt hjerta, så att han icke varde sig för honom.

And vain men are gathered to him, sons of worthlessness, and they strengthen themselves against Rehoboam son of Solomon, and Rehoboam was a youth, and tender of heart, and has not strengthened himself against them.

8 Nu menen I vilja sätta eder emot Herrans rike, ibland Davids söner; efter I ären en stor hop, och hafven gyldene kalfvar, som Jerobeam eder för gudar gjort hafver.

And now you are saying to strengthen yourselves before the kingdom of YHWH in the hand of the sons of David, and you [are] a numerous multitude, and calves of gold [are] with you that Jeroboam has made for you for gods.

9 Hafven I icke fördrifvit Herrans Prester, Aarons söner, och Leviterna; och hafven gjort eder egna Prester, såsom folken i landen? Den som kommer till att fylla sina hand med en ung stut och sju vädrar, den varder Prest till dem som icke äro gudar.

Have you not cast out the priests of YHWH, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make priests for yourselves like the peoples of the lands? Everyone who has come to fill his hand with a bullock, a son of the herd, and seven rams, even he has been a priest for [those which are] not gods!

10 Men med oss är Herren vår Gud, den vi icke öfvergifve, och Presterna, som Herranom tjena, Aarons barn, och Leviterna i deras sysslor;

As for us, YHWH [is] our God, and we have not forsaken Him, and priests are ministering to YHWH, sons of Aaron and the Levites, in the work,

11 Och upptända Herranom bränneoffer, hvar morgon och hvar afton, dertill det goda rökverket, och tillreda bröden på det rena bordet, och den gyldene stakan med sina lampor, så att de varda upptände hvar afton; ty vi behålle Herrans vår Guds vakt; men I hafven öfvergifvit honom.

and are making incense to YHWH, burnt-offerings morning by morning, and evening by evening, and incense of spices, and the arrangement of bread [is] on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold, and its lamps, to burn evening by evening, for we are keeping the charge of our God YHWH, and you have forsaken Him.

12 Si, med oss är Gud i spetsen, och hans Prester och trummeterna till att trummeta; så att man skall trummeta emot eder; I Israels barn, strider icke emot Herran edra fäders Gud; ty det varder eder icke väl bekommandes.

And behold, with us—at [our] head—[is] God, and His priests and trumpets of shouting to shout against you; O sons of Israel, do not fight with YHWH, God of your fathers, for you do not prosper.”

13 Men Jerobeam gjorde en bakhär, att han måtte komma bakuppå dem; så att desse voro frammanför Juda, och bakhären efter dem.

And Jeroboam has brought around the ambush to come in from behind them, and they are before Judah, and the ambush [is] behind them.

14 Då nu Juda vände sig om, si, då var strid både för och efter. Då ropade de till Herran, och Presterna trummetade med trummeter;

And Judah turns, and behold, the battle [is] against them, before and behind, and they cry to YHWH, and the priests are blowing with trumpets,

15 Och hvar man i Juda skriade. Och då hvar man i Juda skriade, plågade Gud Jerobeam och hela Israel för Abia och Juda.

and the men of Judah shout; and it comes to pass, at the shouting of the men of Judah, that God has struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 Och Israels barn flydde för Juda; och Gud gaf dem i deras händer.

And the sons of Israel flee from the face of Judah, and God gives them into their hand,

17 Och Abia med sitt folk gjorde en stor slagtning på dem; och föllo af Israel slagne femhundradtusend unge män.

and Abijah and his people strike among them a great striking, and five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel fall wounded.

18 Alltså vordo Israels barn nedertryckte i den tiden; och Juda barn vordo tröste; förty de förläto sig på Herran deras fäders Gud.

And the sons of Israel are humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah are strong, for they have leaned on YHWH, God of their fathers.

19 Och Abia jagade efter Jerobeam, och vann honom städer af, BethEl med dess döttrar, Jesana med dess döttrar, och Ephron med dess döttrar;

And Abijah pursues after Jeroboam and captures cities from him: Beth-El and its small towns, and Jeshanah and its small towns, and Ephraim and its small towns.

20 Så att Jerobeam kom intet mer till magt, så länge Abia lefde. Och Herren plågade honom, så att han blef död.

And Jeroboam has not retained power anymore in the days of Abijah, and YHWH strikes him, and he dies.

21 Då nu Abia vardt förstärkt, tog han fjorton hustrur, och födde två och tjugu söner och sexton döttrar.

And Abijah strengthens himself, and takes fourteen wives for himself, and begets twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters;

22 Hvad nu mer af Abia sägande är, och om hans vägar, och hans gerningar, det är skrifvet uti den Prophetens Iddo Historia.
