1 Petrusbrevet 3
1 Sammalunda hustrurna, vare sina män underdåniga; på det ock de, som icke tro på ordet, måga af hustrurnas umgängelse, utan ord, blifva vunne;
Likewise let the wiues bee subiect to their husbands, that euen they which obey not the worde, may without the worde be wonne by the conuersation of the wiues,
2 När de förmärka edor kyska umgängelse med fruktan.
While they beholde your pure conuersation, which is with feare.
3 Hvilkas prydning icke skall vara utvärtes, med flätadt hår, eller kringhängande guld, eller i kostelig kläder;
Whose apparelling, let it not be that outwarde, with broyded heare, and golde put about, or in putting on of apparell:
4 Utan om den fördolda menniskan i hjertat är utan vank, med saktmodigom och stillom anda, det är kosteligit för Gudi.
But let it bee the hidde man of the heart, which consisteth in the incorruption of a meeke and quiet spirite, which is before God a thing much set by.
5 Ty i så måtto hafva ock de helga qvinnor fordom prydt sig, de der satte sitt hopp till Gud, och voro sina män underdåniga.
For euen after this maner in time past did the holy women, which trusted in God, tire them selues, and were subiect to their husbands.
6 Såsom Sara var lydig Abrahe, kallandes honom herra; hvilkens döttrar I vordna ären, om I väl gören, och ären icke så förfärade.
As Sara obeyed Abraham, and called him Sir: whose daughters ye are, whiles yee doe well, not being afraide of any terrour.
7 Sammaledes I män, bor när dem med förnuft, och gifver det qvinliga kärilet, såsom det der svagast är, sina äro; såsom ock medarfvingom till lifsens nåd; på det edra böner icke blifva förhindrade.
Likewise ye husbands, dwel with them as men of knowledge, giuing honour vnto the woman, as vnto the weaker vessell, euen as they which are heires together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not interrupted.
8 Men på sistone, varer alle vid ett sinne, medlidande, broderlig kärlek hafvande till hvarannan, barmhertige, vänlige;
Finally, be ye all of one minde: one suffer with another: loue as brethren: bee pitifull: bee courteous,
9 Icke vedergällande ondt för ondt, icke bannor för bannor; utan heldre tvärtemot, välsigner; vetandes att I ären dertill kallade, att I skolen ärfva välsignelse.
Not rendring euil for euill, neither rebuke for rebuke: but contrarywise blesse, knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should be heires of blessing.
10 Ty den der vill älska lifvet, och se goda dagar, han stille sina tungo ifrå det ondt är, och sina läppar, att de icke tala bedrägeri;
For if any man long after life, and to see good dayes, let him refraine his tongue from euill, and his lippes that they speake no guile.
11 Vände sig ifrå det ondt är, och göre det godt är; söke efter friden, och fare honom efter.
Let him eschew euil, and do good: let him seeke peace, and follow after it.
12 Ty Herrans ögon äro öfver de rättfärdiga, och hans öron till deras bön; men Herrans ansigte är öfver dem som ondt göra.
For the eyes of the Lord are ouer the righteous, and his eares are open vnto their prayers: and the face of the Lord is against them that do euil.
13 Och ho är den som kan göra eder skada, om I faren efter det goda?
And who is it that will harme you, if ye follow that which is good?
14 Ja, om I än något liden för rättfärdighetenes skull, ären I dock likväl salige. Frukter eder intet för deras trug; icke heller förskräcker eder;
Notwithstanding blessed are ye, if ye suffer for righteousnes sake. Yea, feare not their feare, neither be troubled.
15 Utan helger Herran Gud uti edor hjerta. Varer ock alltid redebogne till att svara hvarjom och enom, som begärar skäl till det hopp som i eder är; och det med saktmodighet och fruktan.
But sanctifie the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready alwayes to giue an answere to euery man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekenesse and reuerence,
16 Och hafver ett godt samvet; på det de, som vilja förtala eder såsom ogerningsmän, skola komma på skam, att de förlastat hafva edor goda umgängelse i Christo.
Hauing a good coscience, that whe they speake euill of you as of euill doers, they may be ashamed, which slander your good conuersation in Christ.
17 Ty det är bättre, om Guds vilje så är, att I för goda gerningar liden, än för onda.
For it is better (if the will of God be so) that ye suffer for well doing, then for euil doing.
18 Ty Christus led ock ena reso för syndernas skull, rättfärdig för orättfärdiga; på det han skulle offra oss Gudi, och är dödad efter köttet; men lefvande gjord efter Andan.
For Christ also hath once suffered for sinnes, the iust for the vniust, that he might bring vs to God, and was put to death concerning the flesh, but was quickened by the spirit.
19 I dem samma gick han ock bort, och predikade för andarna i fängelset;
By the which hee also went, and preached vnto the spirits that are in prison.
20 Som fordom icke trodde, när Gud en gång bidde, och tålamod hade i Noe tid, då arken byggdes, i hvilkom få, det är, åtta själar, blefvo frälste genom vattnet;
Which were in time passed disobedient, when once the long suffering of God abode in the dayes of Noe, while the Arke was preparing, wherein fewe, that is, eight soules were saued in the water.
21 Hvilket nu ock oss saliga gör i dopet, som genom hint betydt är (icke att köttsens smittor afläggas, utan att man hafver ett godt samvet till Gud), genom Jesu Christi uppståndelse;
Whereof the baptisme that nowe is, answering that figure, (which is not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but a confident demaunding which a good conscience maketh to God) saueth vs also by the resurrection of Iesus Christ,
22 Hvilken är på Guds högra hand, uppfaren till himla; och honom äro Änglarna, och väldigheterna, och krafterna underdåniga.
Which is at the right hand of God, gone into heauen, to whom the Angels, and Powers, and might are subiect.
