Mathayo 8
1 Yesu aliposhuka kutoka mlimani, makundi mengi ya watu yalimfuata.
And as he descended from the mountain, great multitudes gathered around him.
2 Basi, akaja mtu mmoja mwenye ukoma, akamsujudia akisema, “Bwana, ukitaka, waweza kunitakasa!”
And behold, a leper came and worshipped him, and said: My Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
3 Yesu akanyosha mkono wake, akamgusa na kusema, “Nataka! Takasika.” Mara huyo mtu akapona ukoma wake.
And Jesus stretched forth his hand, touched him, and said: I will: be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Kisha Yesu akamwambia, “Sikiliza, usimwambie mtu yeyote, ila nenda ukajionyeshe kwa kuhani, na ukatoe sadaka iliyoamriwa na Mose kuwathibitishia kwamba umepona.”
And Jesus said to him, See, thou tell no man: but go, show thyself to the priests, and present an oblation as Moses enjoined, for a testimony to them.
5 Yesu alipokuwa anaingia mjini Kafarnaumu, ofisa mmoja Mroma alimwendea, akamsihi
And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, and besought him,
6 akisema, “Mheshimiwa, mtumishi wangu amelala nyumbani, mgonjwa wa kupooza na anaumwa sana.”
and said: My Lord, my child lieth at home an is paralytic, and badly afflicted.
7 Yesu akamwambia, “Nitakuja kumponya.”
Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him.
8 Huyo ofisa akamwambia, “Mheshimiwa, sistahili uingie nyumbani mwangu. Lakini sema tu neno, na mtumishi wangu atapona.
The centurion replied, and said: My Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my child will be healed.
9 Maana, hata mimi niliye mtu chini ya mamlaka ya wengine, ninao askari chini yangu. Namwambia mmoja, Nenda! naye huenda; na mwingine, Njoo! naye huja; na mtumishi wangu, Fanya kitu hiki! naye hufanya.”
For I also am a man under authority, and there are soldiers under my hands, and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this thing, and he doeth it.
10 Yesu aliposikia hayo, alistaajabu, akawaambia watu waliokuwa wanamfuata, “Kweli nawaambieni, sijapata kumwona mtu yeyote katika Israeli aliye na imani kama hii.
And when Jesus heard this, he admired it; and he said to those walking with him, Verily I say to you, I have not found faith like this even in Israel.
11 Basi, nawaambieni kwamba watu wengi watakuja kutoka mashariki na magharibi, nao wataketi karamuni pamoja na Abrahamu, Isaka na Yakobo katika Ufalme wa mbinguni.
And I say to you, that many shall come from the east, and from the west, and shall recline with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;
12 Lakini wale ambao wangalipaswa kuwa katika Ufalme huo watatupwa nje, gizani, ambako watalia na kusaga meno.”
but the children of the kingdom shall go forth into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 Kisha Yesu akamwambia huyo ofisa Mroma, “Nenda nyumbani; na iwe kama ulivyoamini.” Na mtumishi wake akapona saa ileile.
And Jesus said to the centurion. Go; be it to thee as thou hast believed. And his child was cured in that same hour.
14 Yesu alifika nyumbani kwa Petro, akamkuta mama mkwe wa Petro amelala kitandani, ana homa kali.
And Jesus came to the house of Simon and saw his wife's mother prostrate, confined by a fever.
15 Basi, Yesu akamgusa huyo mama mkono, na homa ikamwacha; akasimama, akamtumikia.
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose and ministered to them.
16 Ilipokuwa jioni, walimletea watu wengi waliokuwa wamepagawa na pepo; naye, kwa kusema neno tu, akawafukuza hao pepo. Aliwaponya pia watu wote waliokuwa wagonjwa.
And when it was evening, they brought many demoniacs before him; and he expelled their demons by a word, and healed all them that were diseased:
17 Alifanya hivyo ili yale aliyosema nabii Isaya yatimie: “Yeye mwenyewe ameondoa udhaifu wetu, ameyachukua magonjwa yetu.”
that so might be fulfilled that which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, who said: He will bear our sorrows, and our infirmities he will take upon him.
18 Yesu alipoona kundi la watu limemzunguka, aliwaamuru wanafunzi wake waende ng'ambo ya ziwa.
And when Jesus saw great multitudes, around him, he ordered that they should go to the site shore.
19 Mwalimu mmoja wa Sheria akamwendea, akamwambia, “Mwalimu, mimi nitakufuata kokote uendako.”
And a Scribe came and said to him: Rabbi, I will follow thee to the place whither thou goest.
20 Yesu akamjibu, “Mbweha wana mapango, na ndege wana viota; lakini Mwana wa Mtu hana mahali pa kupumzikia.”
Jesus said to him, For foxes there are holes, and for the birds of heaven there are nests; but for the Son of man, there is not where he may recline his head.
21 Kisha mtu mwingine miongoni mwa wanafunzi wake akamwambia, “Bwana, niruhusu kwanza niende nikamzike baba yangu.”
And another of his disciples said to him: My Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
22 Lakini Yesu akamwambia, “Nifuate! Waache wafu wazike wafu wao.”
But Jesus said to him: Follow thou me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.
23 Yesu alipanda mashua, na wanafunzi wake wakaenda pamoja naye.
And when Jesus entered the ship, his disciples embarked with him.
24 Ghafla, dhoruba kali ikatokea ziwani, hata mawimbi yakaanza kuifunika mashua. Yesu alikuwa amelala usingizi.
And lo, a great commotion arose in the sea, so that the vessel was covered by the waves. But Jesus was asleep:
25 Wanafunzi wakamwendea, wakamwamsha wakisema, “Bwana, tuokoe, tunaangamia!”
and his disciples came to awake him, and said to him: Our Lord, deliver us; we are perishing!
26 Yesu akawaambia, “Enyi watu wenye imani haba; mbona mnaogopa?” Basi, akainuka, akazikemea pepo na mawimbi; kukawa shwari kabisa.
Jesus said to them, Why are ye afraid, ye small in faith! Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the sea; and there was great tranquillity.
27 Watu wakashangaa, wakasema, “Ni mtu wa namna gani huyu? Hata pepo na mawimbi vinamtii!”
And the men were amazed; and they said, What a man is this, to whom the winds and the sea are obedient!
28 Yesu alifika katika nchi ya Wagerasi, ng'ambo ya ziwa, na huko watu wawili waliopagawa na pepo wakakutana naye wakitokea makaburini. Watu hawa walikuwa wenye kutisha mno, hata hakuna mtu aliyethubutu kupita katika njia hiyo.
And when Jesus arrived at the farther shore, in the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two demoniacs, who came out from the sepulchres, very furious, so that no one could pass that way.
29 Nao wakaanza kupiga kelele, “Una shauri gani nasi, wewe Mwana wa Mungu? Je, umekuja kututesa kabla ya wakati wake?”
And they cried out, and said: What have we to do with thee? Jesus, thou Son of God. Hast thou come hither before the time to torment us?
30 Karibu na mahali hapo kulikuwa na nguruwe wengi wakichungwa.
And at a distance from them there was a herd of many swine feeding
31 Basi, hao pepo wakamsihi, “Ikiwa utatutoa, basi uturuhusu tuwaingie nguruwe wale.”
And the demons entreated of him, and said: If thou cast us out, suffer us to go into the herd of swine.
32 Yesu akawaambia, “Haya, nendeni.” Hapo wakawatoka watu hao, wakawaingia nguruwe. Kundi lote la nguruwe likaporomoka kwenye ule mteremko mkali, likatumbukia ziwani; nguruwe wote wakafa maji.
And Jesus said to them, Go ye. And immediately they came out, and entered into the swine; and that whole herd ran straight to a precipice and plunged into the sea, and perished in the waters.
33 Wachungaji wa hao nguruwe walikimbia, wakaenda mjini. Huko walitoa habari zote na mambo yaliyowapata wale watu waliokuwa wamepagawa.
And the herdsmen fled, and entered the city, and related all that had occurred, and concerning the demoniacs.
34 Basi, watu wote katika mji ule walitoka, wakamwendea Yesu; na walipomwona, wakamsihi aondoke katika nchi yao.
And all the city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him to retire from their coasts.
