Yohana 14
1 Yesu aliwaambia, “Msifadhaike mioyoni mwenu. Mwaminini Mungu, niaminini na mimi pia.
“Don’t let your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.
2 Nyumbani mwa Baba yangu mna makao mengi; la sivyo ningalikwisha waambieni. Sasa nakwenda kuwatayarishieni nafasi.
In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you,
3 Na nikienda na kuwatayarishieni nafasi, nitarudi na kuwachukueni kwangu, ili nanyi muwe pale nilipo mimi.
and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may also be.
4 Mnajua njia ya kwenda huko ninakokwenda.”
You know where I go, and you know the way.”
5 Thoma akamwuliza, “Bwana, hatujui unakokwenda, tutawezaje basi, kuijua hiyo njia?”
Thomas asked Him, “Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Yesu akamjibu, “Mimi ni njia, na ukweli na uzima. Hakuna awezaye kwenda kwa Baba ila kwa kupitia kwangu.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 Ikiwa mnanijua mimi mnamjua na Baba yangu pia. Na tangu sasa, mnamjua, tena mmekwisha mwona.”
If you had known me, you would have known my Father too. From now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Filipo akamwambia, “Bwana, tuonyeshe Baba, nasi tutatosheka.”
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that would be enough for us.”
9 Yesu akamwambia, “Filipo, nimekaa nanyi muda wote huu, nawe hujanijua? Aliyekwisha niona mimi amemwona Baba. Unawezaje basi, kusema: Tuonyeshe Baba?
Jesus answered, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you haven’t known me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father, so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Je, huamini kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba, naye Baba yuko ndani yangu? Maneno ninayowaambieni nyote siyasemi kwa mamlaka yangu; Baba aliye ndani yangu anafanya kazi yake.
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you aren’t my own, but from the Father who lives in me. He does the works.
11 Mnapaswa kuniamini ninaposema kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba naye Baba yuko ndani yangu. Ama sivyo, aminini kwa sababu ya mambo ninayofanya.
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
12 Kweli nawaambieni, anayeniamini atafanya mambo ninayofanya mimi; naam, atafanya hata makuu zaidi, maana nakwenda kwa Baba.
“Most assuredly, I tell you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and even greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.
13 Na chochote mtakachoomba kwa jina langu nitafanya, ili Baba atukuzwe ndani ya Mwana.
I will do whatever you ask in my name, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 Mkiniomba chochote kwa jina langu, nitawafanyieni.
If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
15 “Mkinipenda mtazishika amri zangu.
If you sincerely love me, you will keep my commandments.
I will then ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor, that He may be with you forever — (aiōn g165)
17 Yeye ni Roho wa kweli. Ulimwengu hauwezi kumpokea kwa sababu hauwezi kumwona wala kumjua. Lakini ninyi mnamjua kwa sababu anabaki nanyi na yu ndani yenu.
the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, though, because He lives with you and will be in you.
18 “Sitawaacha ninyi yatima; nitakuja tena kwenu.
I won’t leave you orphans. I will come to you.
19 Bado kidogo nao ulimwengu hautaniona tena, lakini ninyi mtaniona; na kwa kuwa mimi ni hai, nanyi pia mtakuwa hai.
After a little while the world won’t see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will also live.
20 Siku ile itakapofika mtajua kwamba mimi niko ndani ya Baba, nanyi mko ndani yangu, nami ndani yenu.
In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 Azipokeaye amri zangu na kuzishika, yeye ndiye anipendaye. Naye anipendaye mimi atapendwa na Baba yangu, nami nitampenda na kujidhihirisha kwake.”
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, sincerely loves me. Whoever sincerely loves me will be sincerely loved by my Father, and I’ll sincerely love them and reveal myself to them.”
22 Yuda (si yule Iskarioti) akamwambia, “Bwana, itawezekanaje wewe kujidhihirisha kwetu na si kwa ulimwengu?”
Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Yesu akamjibu, “Mtu akinipenda atashika neno langu, na Baba yangu atampenda, nasi tutakuja kwake na kukaa naye.
Jesus answered him, “If anyone sincerely loves me, that person will keep my words; and my Father will sincerely love that person, and we will come and make our home with that person.
24 Asiyenipenda hashiki maneno yangu. Na neno mlilosikia si langu, bali ni lake Baba aliyenituma.
Whoever doesn’t sincerely love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
25 “Nimewaambieni mambo haya nikiwa bado pamoja nanyi
“I’ve told you these things while living with you,
26 lakini Msaidizi, Roho Mtakatifu, ambaye Baba atamtuma kwa jina langu, atawafundisheni kila kitu na kuwakumbusheni yote niliyowaambieni.
but the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and bring to your remembrance all that I told you.
27 “Nawaachieni amani; nawapeni amani yangu. Siwapi ninyi kama vile ulimwengu ufanyavyo. Msiwe na wasiwasi, wala msifadhaike.
I leave peace with you. I give you my peace. I don’t give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Mlikwisha sikia nikiwaambieni: Ninakwenda zangu, kisha nitarudi tena kwenu. Kama mngalinipenda mngalifurahi kwa sababu ninakwenda kwa Baba, maana yeye ni mkuu kuliko mimi.
You have heard me tell you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you sincerely loved me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for my Father is greater than I.
29 Nimewaambieni haya sasa kabla hayajatokea, ili yatakapotokea mpate kuamini.
Now I have told you before it happens, that when it does happen, you may believe.
30 Sitasema nanyi tena mambo mengi, maana mtawala wa ulimwengu huu anakuja. Kwangu mimi hawezi kitu;
I won’t talk much longer with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,
31 lakini ulimwengu unapaswa kujua kwamba nampenda Baba, na ndiyo maana nafanya kila kitu kama Baba alivyoniamuru. Simameni, tutoke hapa!”
but the world must learn that I sincerely love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come on. Let’s go.
