Yohana 13
1 Ilikuwa kabla ya sikukuu ya Pasaka. Yesu alijua kwamba saa yake ya kuondoka ulimwenguni na kwenda kwa Baba ilikuwa imefika. Alikuwa amewapenda daima watu wake walioko duniani; naam, aliwapenda mpaka mwisho!
And before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew that the hour had come when he should depart from this world unto the Father. And he loved his own people, who were in the world; and he loved them unto the end.
2 Basi, Yesu na wanafunzi wake walikuwa mezani kwa chakula cha jioni. Ibilisi alikwisha mtia Yuda, mwana wa Simoni Iskarioti, nia ya kumsaliti Yesu.
And when the supper was passed, it had been injected by Satan into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him.
3 Yesu alijua kwamba Baba alikuwa amemkabidhi kila kitu, na kwamba alikuwa ametoka kwa Mungu na anarudi kwa Mungu.
And Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands; and that he came out from the Father, and was going to God;
4 Basi, Yesu aliondoka mezani, akaweka kando vazi lake, akachukua kitambaa na kujifunga kiunoni.
arose from the supper, and laid aside his long garments, and took a linen cloth, and wrapped it about his loins;
5 Kisha akatia maji katika bakuli, akaanza kuwaosha wanafunzi wake miguu na kuipangusa kwa kile kitambaa alichojifungia.
and poured water into a wash-basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples: and he wiped them with the linen cloth with which he had girded his loins.
6 Basi, akamfikia Simoni Petro; naye Petro akasema, “Bwana, wewe utaniosha miguu mimi?”
And when he came to Simon Cephas, Simon said to him: Dost thou, my Lord, wash my feet for me?
7 Yesu akamjibu, “Huelewi sasa ninachofanya lakini utaelewa baadaye.”
Jesus answered, and said to him: What I do, thou understandest not now: but hereafter thou wilt understand.
8 Petro akamwambia, “Wewe hutaniosha miguu kamwe!” Yesu akamjibu, “Nisipokuosha hutakuwa na uhusiano nami tena.” (aiōn g165)
Simon Cephas said to him: Never shalt thou wash my feet. Jesus said to him: Unless I wash thee, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn g165)
9 Simoni Petro akamwambia, “Bwana, nioshe, si miguu tu, bali na mikono yangu na kichwa pia.”
Simon Cephas said to him: Then, my Lord, not my feet only shalt thou wash, but also my hands and my head.
10 Yesu akamwambia, “Aliyekwisha oga hana lazima ya kunawa isipokuwa miguu, maana amekwisha takata mwili wote. Ninyi mmetakata, lakini si nyote.”
Jesus said to him: He that hath bathed, needeth not but to wash his feet; for he is all clean. And ye also are clean; but not all of you.
11 (Yesu alimjua yule ambaye atamsaliti, ndiyo maana alisema: “Ninyi mmetakata, lakini si nyote.”)
For Jesus knew, who would betray him: therefore he said, Ye are not all clean.
12 Alipokwisha waosha miguu na kuvaa tena vazi lake, aliketi mezani, akawaambia, “Je, mmeelewa hayo niliyowatendeeni?
And when he had washed their feet, he resumed his long garments, and reclined. And he said to them: Understand ye what I have done to you?
13 Ninyi mwaniita Mwalimu na Bwana, nanyi mwasema vyema, kwa kuwa ndimi.
Ye call me, Our Rabbi, and Our Lord; and ye speak well; for I am so.
14 Basi, ikiwa mimi niliye Bwana na Mwalimu, nimewaosha ninyi miguu, nanyi pia mnapaswa kuoshana miguu.
If then I, your Lord and your Rabbi, have washed your feet, how much more ought ye to wash the feet of one another?
15 Nimewapeni mfano, ili nanyi pia mfanye kama nilivyowafanyieni.
For I have given you this example, that ye might do, as I have done to you.
16 Kweli nawaambieni, mtumishi si mkuu zaidi kuliko bwana wake, wala mtume si mkuu zaidi kuliko yule aliyemtuma.
Verily, verily, I say to you, That no servant is greater than his lord; and no legate is greater than he who sent him.
17 Basi, ikiwa mwayajua hayo, mtakuwa na heri mkiyatekeleza.
If ye know these things, happy will ye be if ye do them.
18 “Haya nisemayo hayawahusu ninyi nyote. Mimi nawajua wale niliowachagua. Lakini lazima yatimie Maandiko Matakatifu yasemayo: Yule aliyeshiriki chakula changu amegeuka kunishambulia.
Not of you all, do I speak: I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted his heel against me.
19 Mimi nimewaambieni mambo haya sasa kabla hayajatokea, ili yatakapotokea mpate kuamini kuwa mimi ndimi.
From this time, I tell you, before it occurs, that when it shall occur, ye may know that I am he.
20 Kweli nawaambieni anayempokea yule ninayemtuma anaponipokea mimi; na anayenipokea mimi, anampokea yule aliyenituma.”
Verily, verily, I say to you: He that receiveth him whom I send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
21 Alipokwisha sema hayo, Yesu alifadhaika sana rohoni, akasema wazi, “Kweli nawaambieni, mmoja wenu atanisaliti!”
These things said Jesus, and he was agitated in his spirit; and he testified, and said: Verily, verily, I say to you, That one of you will betray me.
22 Wanafunzi wakatazama wasiweze kabisa kujua anasema nani.
And the disciples stared at one another; because they knew not, of whom he spake.
23 Mmoja wa wanafunzi, ambaye Yesu alikuwa anampenda sana, alikuwa ameketi karibu na Yesu.
And there was one of his disciples, who was reclining on his bosom, he whom Jesus loved;
24 Basi, Simoni Petro akamwashiria na kusema: “Mwulize anasema juu ya nani.”
to him Simon Cephas beckoned, that he should ask him, who it was of whom he spoke.
25 Mwanafunzi huyo akasogea karibu zaidi na Yesu, akamwuliza, “Bwana, ni nani?”
And that disciple fell upon the breast of Jesus, and said to him: My Lord, which is he?
26 Yesu akajibu, “Yule nitakayempa kipande cha mkate nilichochovya katika sahani, ndiye.” Basi, akatwaa kipande cha mkate, akakichovya katika sahani, akampa Yuda, mwana wa Simoni Iskarioti.
Jesus answered and said: He it is, to whom I give the bread when I have dipped it. And Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 Yuda alipokwisha pokea kipande hicho, Shetani akamwingia. Basi Yesu akamwambia, “Unachotaka kufanya, kifanye haraka!”
And after the bread, then Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: What thou doest, do quickly.
28 Lakini hakuna hata mmoja wa wale waliokaa pale mezani aliyefahamu kwa nini alikuwa amemwambia hivyo.
And no one of those reclining, knew, wherefore he said this to him.
29 Kwa kuwa Yuda alikuwa na wajibu wa kuutunza mfuko wa fedha, baadhi yao walidhani kwamba Yesu alikuwa amemwambia anunue vilivyohitajiwa kwa sikukuu, au kwamba alikuwa amemwambia akatoe chochote kwa maskini.
For some of them supposed, because the purse was in the hands of Judas, that Jesus expressly charged him to buy something needful for the feast, or that he should give something to the poor.
30 Basi, Yuda alipokwisha twaa kile kipande cha mkate, akatoka nje mara. Na ilikuwa usiku.
And Judas took the bread at once, and went out of the house. And it was night when he went out.
31 Baada ya Yuda kuondoka, Yesu akasema, “Sasa Mwana wa Mtu ametukuzwa, naye Mungu ametukuzwa ndani yake.
And Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified; and God is glorified in him.
32 Na kama utukufu wa Mungu umefunuliwa ndani ya Mwana, basi, naye Mungu ataudhihirisha utukufu wa Mwana ndani yake mwenyewe, na atafanya hivyo mara.
And if God is glorified in him, God will glorify him in himself; and will glorify him speedily.
33 “Watoto wangu, bado niko nanyi kwa muda mfupi tu. Mtanitafuta, lakini sasa nawaambieni yale niliyowaambia viongozi wa Wayahudi: Niendako ninyi hamwezi kwenda!
My children, a little longer I am with you; and ye will seek for me; and, as I said to the Jews, Whither I go ye cannot come, so I now say to you.
34 Nawapeni amri mpya: pendaneni; pendaneni kama nilivyowapenda ninyi.
A new commandment I give to you, that ye be affectionate to each other. As I have loved you, do ye also love one another.
35 Mkipendana, watu wote watajua kwamba ninyi ni wanafunzi wangu.”
By this will every one know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love for each other.
36 Simoni Petro akamwuliza, “Bwana, unakwenda wapi?” Yesu akajibu, “Niendako huwezi kunifuata sasa, lakini utanifuata baadaye.”
Simon Cephas said to him: Our Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, and said to him: Whither I go, thou canst not now come after me; but thou wilt at last come.
37 Petro akamwambia “Bwana, kwa nini siwezi kukufuata sasa? Niko tayari kufa kwa ajili yako!”
Simon Cephas said to him: My Lord, why can I not come after thee? I would lay down my life for thee.
38 Yesu akajibu, “Je, uko tayari kweli kufa kwa ajili yangu? Kweli nakwambia, kabla jogoo hajawika utanikana mara tatu!”
Jesus said to him: Wouldst thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock will not crow, until thou hast three times denied me.
