Yakobo 5
1 Na sasa sikilizeni enyi matajiri! Lieni na kuomboleza kwa sababu ya taabu zitakazowajieni.
Go to now, you rich men! Weep aloud, howl for the miseries which are about to come upon you!
2 Mali zenu zimeoza, na nguo zenu zimeliwa na nondo.
For your riches lie rotting, and your clothing has become moth-eaten.
3 Dhahabu yenu na fedha vimeota kutu, na kutu hiyo itakuwa ushahidi dhidi yenu, nayo itakula miili yenu kama vile moto. Ninyi mmejilundikia mali katika siku hizi za mwisho!
Your gold and silver are rusted. and their rust will be for a testimony against you, and it will eat your flesh. For you have been storing up fire in these last days!
4 Hamkuwalipa mishahara watumishi waliofanya kazi katika mashamba yenu. Sikilizeni malalamiko yao! Kilio cha hao wanaovuna mashamba yenu kimefika masikioni mwa Bwana, Mwenye Nguvu.
Look! the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have been keeping back by fraud, are crying aloud! And the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth!
5 Mmeishi duniani maisha ya kujifurahisha na ya anasa. Mmejinenepesha tayari kwa siku ya kuchinjwa.
You have lived luxuriously on earth, you have taken your pleasure, you have fattened your hearts for a day of slaughter.
6 Mmemhukumu na kumwua mtu asiye na hatia, naye hakuwapigeni.
You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous man unresisting!
7 Basi, ndugu zangu, muwe na subira mpaka Bwana atakapokuja. Tazameni mkulima anavyongoja kwa subira mimea yake itoe mavuno mazuri. Yeye hungojea kwa subira mvua za masika na za vuli.
Be patient, then, brothers, till the coming of the Lord. Behold the farmer who waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it gets the early and the latter rains.
8 Nanyi pia mnapaswa kuwa na subira; imarisheni mioyo yenu, maana siku ya kuja kwake Bwana inakaribia.
So you also must be patient. Stablish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is at hand!
9 Ndugu zangu, msinung'unikiane ninyi kwa ninyi msije mkahukumiwa na Mungu. Hakimu yu karibu, tayari kuingia.
Do not make complaints against each other, brothers, lest you yourselves be condemned. Behold the Judge is standing before the very door!
10 Ndugu, mkitaka kuona mfano wa subira na uvumilivu katika mateso, fikirini juu ya manabii ambao walinena kwa jina la Bwana.
Take, my brothers, for an example the suffering and the patience of the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11 Tunawaita hao wenye heri kwa sababu walivumilia. Mmesikia habari za uvumilivu wa Yobu, na mnajua jinsi Bwana alivyomtendea mwishoni. Maana Bwana amejaa huruma na rehema.
Remember we count those that were stedfast happy. You have heard of the stedfastness of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord with him, seen how the Lord is full of tenderness.
12 Zaidi ya hayo yote, ndugu zangu, msiape kwa mbingu, wala kwa dunia, wala kwa kitu kingine chochote. Semeni “Ndiyo” kama maana yenu ni ndiyo, na “La” kama maana yenu ni la, na hapo hamtahukumiwa na Mungu.
Again, above all things, my brothers, swear not at all, neither by the heavens, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. Let your "yes" be "yes," and your "no," "no," so you will not fall under condemnation.
13 Je, pana mtu yeyote miongoni mwenu aliye na shida? Anapaswa kusali. Je, yuko mwenye furaha? Anapaswa kuimba nyimbo za sifa.
Is any one of you in trouble? Let him pray.
14 Je, yuko mgonjwa kati yenu? Anapaswa kuwaita wazee wa kanisa, nao watamwombea na kumpaka mafuta kwa jina la Bwana.
Is any in good spirits? Let him sing unto his harp. Is any one of you ill? Let him send for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, after anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
15 Wakiomba kwa imani mgonjwa ataponyeshwa; Bwana atampatia nafuu, na dhambi alizotenda zitaondolewa.
and the prayer of faith will restore the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him.
16 Basi, ungamanianeni dhambi zenu, na ombeaneni, ili mpate kuponywa. Sala ya mtu mwema ina nguvu ya kutenda mengi.
So confess your sins one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. For the fervent prayer of a righteous man is mighty in its working.
17 Eliya alikuwa binadamu kama sisi. Aliomba kwa moyo mvua isinyeshe, nayo haikunyesha nchini kwa muda wa miaka mitatu na miezi sita.
Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
18 Kisha akaomba tena, mvua ikanyesha kutoka angani na nchi ikatoa mazao yake.

19 Ndugu zangu, mmoja wenu akipotoka kuhusu ukweli, na mwingine akamrudisha,
My brothers, if any one of you strays from the truth, and some one brings him back,
20 fahamuni kwamba, huyo anayemrudisha mwenye dhambi kutoka njia yake ya upotovu, ataiokoa roho yake kutoka kifo, na dhambi nyingi zitaondolewa.
let him know that he who brings a sinner back from the error of his ways, saves his soul from death, and hides a multitude of sins.
