Wahebrania 8
1 Basi, jambo muhimu katika hayo tunayosema ni hili: sisi tunaye Kuhani Mkuu wa namna hiyo, ambaye anaketi upande wa kulia wa kiti cha enzi cha Mwenyezi Mungu mbinguni.
Now the sum of the whole is this, we have a High Priest, who is seated on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven:
2 Yeye hutoa huduma ya Kuhani Mkuu katika Mahali Patakatifu sana, yaani ndani ya ile hema ya kweli iliyojengwa na Bwana, siyo na binadamu.
And he is the minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which God hath pitched, and not man.
3 Kila Kuhani Mkuu ameteuliwa kumtolea Mungu vipawa na dhabihu, na hivyo Kuhani Mkuu wetu lazima pia awe na kitu cha kutolea.
For every high priest is established, to offer oblations and sacrifices; and therefore, it was proper that this one should also have something to offer.
4 Kama yeye angekuwa wa hapa duninani, asingekuwa kamwe kuhani, kwani wako makuhani wengine wanaotoa sadaka kufuatana na Sheria.
And if he were on earth, he would not be a priest; because there are priests there, who offer oblations agreeably to the law:
5 Huduma zao za kikuhani ni mfano tu na kivuli cha yale yaliyoko mbinguni. Ndivyo pia ilivyokuwa kwa Mose. Wakati alipokuwa karibu kuitengeneza ile hema, Mungu alimwambia: “Tengeneza kila kitu kufuatana na ule mfano ulioonyeshwa kule mlimani.”
namely they, who minister in the emblem and shadow of the things in heaven: as it was said to Moses, when he was about to build the tabernacle, See, and make every thing according to the pattern which was showed thee in the mount.
6 Lakini sasa Yesu amepewa huduma ya kikuhani iliyo bora zaidi kuliko yao, kama vile agano alilothibitisha kati ya watu na Mungu ni bora zaidi, kwani lina msingi wake katika ahadi za mambo yaliyo bora zaidi.
But now, Jesus the Messiah hath received a ministry which is better than that: as also the covenant, of which he is made the Mediator, is better, and is given with better promises than the former.
7 Maana kama lile agano la kwanza halingalikuwa na dosari, hakungalikuwa na haja ya agano la pili.
For, if the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no place for this second one.
8 Lakini Mungu aliwalaumu watu wake aliposema: “Siku zinakuja, asema Bwana, ambapo nitafanya agano jipya na watu wa Israeli na kabila la Yuda.
For he chideth them and saith: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will complete with the family of the house of Israel, and with the family of the house of Judah, a new covenant;
9 Agano hili halitakuwa kama lile nililofanya na babu zao siku ile nilipowaongoza kwa mkono kutoka nchi ya Misri. Hawakuwa waaminifu kwa agano langu; na hivyo mimi sikuwajali, asema Bwana.
not like the covenant which I gave to their fathers, in the day when I took them by the hand, and brought them out of the land of Egypt; and because they continued not in my covenant, I also rejected them, saith the Lord.
10 Na hili ndilo agano nitakalofanya na watu wa Israeli siku zijazo, asema Bwana: Nitaweka sheria zangu akilini mwao, na kuziandika mioyoni mwao. Mimi nitakuwa Mungu wao, nao watakuwa watu wangu.
But this is the covenant which I will give to the family of the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will put my law in their minds, and inscribe it on their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.
11 Hakuna mtu atakayemfundisha mwananchi mwenzake, wala atakayemwambia ndugu yake: Mjue Bwana. Maana watu wote, wadogo na wakubwa, watanijua mimi.
And one shall not teach his fellow-citizen, nor his brother, nor say: Know thou the Lord: because they shall all know me, from the youngest of them to the oldest.
12 Nitawasamehe makosa yao, wala sitakumbuka tena dhambi zao.”
And I will forgive them their iniquity; and their sins will I remember no more.
13 Kwa kusema juu ya agano jipya, Mungu alilichakaza lile la kwanza; na chochote kinachochakaa na kuwa kikuukuu kitatoweka karibuni.
In that he said a New Covenant, he made the first old; and that which is old and decaying, is near to dissolution.
