2 Petro 1
1 Mimi Simoni Petro, mtumishi na mtume wa Yesu Kristo, nawaandikia ninyi ambao, kwa wema wake Mungu wetu, na Mwokozi Yesu Kristo, mmejaliwa imani ileile ya thamani kuu tuliyojaliwa sisi.
Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained an equally precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Nawatakieni neema na amani tele katika kumjua Mungu na Yesu Bwana wetu.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you by the God and Father of Jesus our Lord.
3 Kwa uwezo wake wa kimungu, Mungu ametujalia mambo yote tunayohitaji, ili tuishi maisha ya kumcha Mungu kwa kumjua yeye aliyetuita tuushiriki utukufu na wema wake yeye mwenyewe.
For his power divine has granted to us everything needful for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue.
4 Kwa namna hiyo ametujalia zawadi kuu na za thamani ambazo alituahidia, ili kwa zawadi hizo mpate kuziepa kabisa tamaa mbaya zilizomo duniani, na mpate kuishiriki hali yake ya kimungu.
By these he has granted his promises to us, precious and splendid; so that through them you may become partners of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 Kwa sababu hiyo, fanyeni bidii ya kuongeza fadhila katika imani yenu: ongezeni elimu katika fadhila yenu,
For this very reason do your best to add to your faith manliness, and to manliness knowledge,
6 kuwa na kiasi katika elimu yenu, uvumilivu katika kuwa na kiasi, uchaji wa Mungu katika uvumilivu wenu,
and to knowledge self-control, and to self-control stedfastness, and to stedfastness piety,
7 udugu katika uchaji wenu, na mapendo katika udugu wenu.
and to piety brotherly love, and to brotherly love, love itself.
8 Mkiwa na sifa hizo zote kwa wingi, zitawawezesheni kuwa watendaji na kupata faida katika kumjua Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
For if these virtues are yours in abounding measure, they render you not idle nor unfruitful, until you come into the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Lakini mtu asiye na sifa hizo ni kipofu, hawezi kuona na amesahau kwamba alikwisha takaswa dhambi zake za zamani.
For the man who lacks these virtues is blind, short-sighted, forgetful of his cleansing from his old sins.
10 Kwa hiyo basi, ndugu zangu, fanyeni bidii zaidi kuufanya huo wito wenu mlioitiwa na Mungu uwe jambo la kudumu katika maisha yenu; kama mkiishi namna hiyo hamtaanguka kamwe.
So, brothers, take diligent care to make your calling and election sure; for if you do this, you will never stumble.
11 Kwa namna hiyo mtafaulu kupewa haki kamili ya kuingia katika Utawala wa milele wa Bwana na Mwokozi wetu Yesu Kristo. (aiōnios g166)
For so the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you. (aiōnios g166)
12 Kwa hiyo nitaendelea kuwakumbusheni daima mambo haya, ingawa mmekwisha yafahamu, na mko imara katika ukweli mlioupokea.
I shall therefore be always ready to remind you of all this, even though you know it, and are firmly founded in the truth which is with you.
13 Nadhani ni jambo jema kwangu, muda wote niishio hapa duniani, kuwapeni moyo na kuwakumbusheni juu ya mambo haya.
So I think it right, as long as I am in this "tent," to rouse you by way of reminding you,
14 Najua kwamba karibu nitauweka kando mwili huu wenye kufa, kama Bwana alivyoniambia waziwazi.
since I know that the time for me to strike tent comes swiftly on, even as our Lord Jesus Christ pointed out to me.
15 Basi, nitajitahidi kuwapatieni njia ya kuyakumbuka mambo haya kila wakati, baada ya kufariki kwangu.
So I will do my best to enable you, even after my departure, continually to call these things to mind.
16 Wakati tulipowafundisheni juu ya ukuu wa kuja kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo, hatukutegemea hadithi tupu zisizo na msingi. Sisi tuliuona utukufu wake kwa macho yetu wenyewe.
For we were not following cunningly devised fables, when we told you of the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eye-witnesses of his Majesty.
17 Sisi tulikuwapo wakati alipopewa heshima na kutukuzwa na Mungu Baba, wakati sauti ilipomjia kutoka kwake yeye aliye Utukufu Mkuu, ikisema: “Huyu ni Mwanangu mpenzi, nimependezwa naye.”
For he did receive honor and glory from God the Father, when there was borne such a voice to him from the Majestic Glory, This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I delight;
18 Tena, sisi wenyewe tulisikia sauti hiyo kutoka mbinguni wakati tulipokuwa pamoja naye juu ya ule mlima mtakatifu.
and this voice we ourselves heard, borne to us out of heaven, when we were with him on the holy hill.
19 Tena, ujumbe wa manabii watuthibitishia jambo hilo; nanyi mwafanya vema kama mkiuzingatia, maana ni kama taa inayoangaza mahali penye giza mpaka Siku ile itakapopambazuka na mwanga wa nyota ya asubuhi utakapong'ara mioyoni mwenu.
And so we possess the word of prophecy made yet more sure. Unto this you do well to give heed as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 Zaidi ya hayo, lakini, kumbukeni kwamba hakuna mtu yeyote awezaye kufafanua mwenyewe unabii ulio katika Maandiko Matakatifu.
But first be assured of this - that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.
21 Maana hakuna ujumbe wa kinabii unaotokana na matakwa ya binadamu, bali watu walinena ujumbe wa Mungu wakiongozwa na Roho Mtakatifu.
For no prophecy was ever brought by the will of man; but moved by the Holy Spirit, men spoke for God.
