1 Timotheo 2
1 Kwanza kabisa, basi naomba dua, sala, maombi na sala za shukrani zitolewe kwa Mungu kwa ajili ya watu wote,
First of all then, I am urging that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered regularly for all men;
2 kwa ajili ya wafalme na wote wenye mamlaka, ili tupate kuishi maisha ya utulivu na amani pamoja na uchaji wa Mungu na mwenendo mwema.
for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and peaceful life in all godliness an gravity.
3 Jambo hili ni jema na lampendeza Mungu Mwokozi wetu,
For this is good and pleasing in the eyes of our Saviour God,
4 ambaye anataka watu wote waokolewe na wapate kuujua ukweli.
whose will it is that all men should be saved, and come into full knowledge of the truth.
5 Maana yuko Mungu mmoja, na pia yuko mmoja anayewapatanisha watu na Mungu, binadamu Kristo Yesu,
For God is one; and one is mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 ambaye alijitoa mwenyewe kuwakomboa watu wote. Huo ulikuwa uthibitisho, wakati ufaao ulipowadia.
who gave himself as a ransom in behalf of all, to be attested in due time.
7 Kwa sababu hiyo mimi nilitumwa niwe mtume na mwalimu wa watu wa mataifa, niutangaze ujumbe wa imani na ukweli. Nasema ukweli; sisemi uongo!
It was for this testimony that I myself was appointed a herald and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), to be a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Basi, popote mnapokutana kufanya ibada nataka wanaume wasali, watu waliojitolea kweli na ambao wanaweza kuinua mikono yao wakisali bila hasira wala ubishi.
My wish, then, is that in every place the men should offer prayer, lifting up holy hands, free from anger and disputation;
9 Hali kadhalika, nawataka wanawake wawe wanyofu na wenye busara kuhusu mavazi yao; wavae sawasawa na si kwa urembo wa mitindo ya kusuka nywele, kujipamba kwa dhahabu, lulu au mavazi ya gharama kubwa,
in like manner also the women. I desire women to clothe themselves in suitable apparel, adorning themselves with reverence and self- restraint; not with hair plaited with gold or pearls, or with expensive clothes,
10 bali kwa matendo mema kama iwapasavyo wanawake wamchao Mungu.
but (as becomes women proclaiming godliness) with the ornament of good deeds.
11 Wanawake wanapaswa kukaa kimya na kuwa wanyenyekevu wakati wa kujifunza.
Let a woman learn quietly in entire submission.
12 Mimi simruhusu mwanamke amfundishe au amtawale mwanamume; anapaswa kukaa kimya.
I allow no woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man; but let her keep quiet.
13 Maana Adamu aliumbwa kwanza, halafu Hawa.
It was Adam who was first formed, then Eve.
14 Na wala si Adamu aliyedanganywa; bali mwanamke ndiye aliyedanganywa, akaivunja sheria ya Mungu.
And it was not Adam who was deceived; but it was the woman who was thoroughly deceived, and who became involved in transgression.
15 Hata hivyo, mwanamke ataokolewa kwa kupata watoto, kama akidumu katika imani, upendo, utakatifu na unyofu.
Notwithstanding she will be saved by the Child-bearing; (so will they all), if they live in faith and love and holiness, with self- restraint.
